docs(harness): import the Gateway app from the module that defines it (#6169)
Both the en and zh integration guides show `from deerflow.app.gateway.main import
app`, but there is no deerflow.app package and no gateway/main.py in the tree: the
FastAPI instance is created by create_app() and bound at module level in
backend/app/gateway/app.py, which is also how backend/AGENTS.md documents it.

The copy-pasteable snippet now names that module, so mounting the Gateway as a
sub-application works from the documented import instead of failing at runtime.

fix(frontend): key the Julia entry of extensionMap by its extension (#6130)
extensionMap is keyed by extension and valued by language, but the Julia row
was written backwards as `julia: "jl"`. checkCodeFile tests membership with
`extension in extensionMap`, so ".jl" never matched and a Julia artifact was
not a code file at all, while ".julia" resolved to a language named "jl".

Add both `jl: "julia"` and `julia: "julia"`, the same pair form the map already
uses for haskell/hs and elixir/ex, so no extension that classified before stops
classifying.

fix(threads): re-anchor re-persisted history rows to their earliest seq (#6128)
* fix(threads): re-anchor re-persisted history rows to their earliest seq

reconcileThreadHistoryRows collapsed a repeated (run_id, identity) to
its latest-seq copy, deleting the earliest-seq row before
buildVisibleHistoryMessages could apply its earliest-seq-wins
anchoring. A message re-persisted under a newer seq therefore jumped
to the tail of the thread, contradicting the documented contract in
this function's docstring, in buildVisibleHistoryMessages, and in the
backend get_message_seqs earliest-seq-wins rule.

Re-anchor the surviving row to the earliest seq its identity held in
the merged window after deduping, and make the retained-history
stability check value-based so re-anchored rows do not force a state
update on every pass.

fix(docs): harness docs document an async client API that does not exist (#5843)
* docs: replace nonexistent async client API in harness docs

DeerFlowClient has no async methods: client.astream() and client.ainvoke()
do not exist, so the "Create Your First Harness" tutorial and the harness
integration guide fail with AttributeError on their first call. Overrides
were also shown as a nested config={"configurable": {...}} dict, which
stream()/chat() swallow via **kwargs and silently ignore.

Switch the examples to the shipping API (sync stream()/chat(), flat kwarg
overrides, agent_name as a constructor arg) in the EN and ZH copies of both
pages. backend/docs/STREAMING.md is left alone: its astream mentions are
design discussion and LangGraph internals, not user-facing examples.

* docs: serialize StreamEvent before StreamingResponse, use real event names

Review follow-up on the two points raised in #5843.

P2 — the streaming examples handed a generator of `StreamEvent` dataclasses
straight to Starlette. `StreamingResponse` calls `.encode()` on any chunk that
is not `str`/`bytes`, so the first event raised
`AttributeError: 'StreamEvent' object has no attribute 'encode'`. Both
occurrences (the `run_agent` snippet and the inline FastAPI route, which shipped
the dataclass `repr()` through an f-string) now serialize to SSE frames built
from `event.type` / `event.data`.

P3 — the tutorial showed mapping literals with `messages` and `thread_state`,
neither of which exists. The real contract is
`StreamEventType = Literal["values", "messages-tuple", "custom", "end"]`
(backend/packages/harness/deerflow/client.py:128) and the stream yields
dataclasses, so the section now shows `StreamEvent(...)` with the real names
plus a consuming loop.

The zh tutorial had no equivalent section at all; added for parity.

* docs: drop the nonexistent load_config() from every harness snippet

Review follow-up on #5843 (@willem-bd): the rewritten tutorial still opened
with `from deerflow.config import load_config`, which raises ImportError
before `client.stream(...)` is ever reached — `deerflow/config/__init__.py`
exports `get_app_config` and friends, and the string `load_config` does not
appear anywhere under `backend/packages/harness/deerflow/` (the only near
match is `load_configured_extension_middlewares`).

The call was also unnecessary: `DeerFlowClient.__init__` already resolves
configuration itself (client.py:220-222 — `reload_app_config(config_path)`
when a path is given, otherwise `get_app_config()`, which auto-loads from
the default path or DEER_FLOW_CONFIG_PATH).

Fixed the class rather than the one snippet you flagged: the same dead
import appeared 10 times across 4 pages (EN + ZH tutorial and integration
guide). Every one is gone. The "configuration in embedded mode" section now
shows the API that exists — `DeerFlowClient(config_path="...")` — instead of
`load_config(config_path="...")`.

Also from the review:
- the `end` example showed only `total_tokens`; `stream()` always yields
input/output/total (client.py:920), and the snippet right below prints the
whole usage dict, so a reader saw keys the docs omitted. Both EN and ZH now
show the full payload, and the `values` example visibly elides `artifacts`
and `summary_text` instead of pretending they are absent.
- the two SSE comments on the ZH integration page stayed English while the
example above them was translated; translated.

Verified statically, not executed: `grep` for the symbol across the harness
package (zero hits) and a read of `DeerFlowClient.__init__`. I did not stand
up a backend to run the tutorial end to end.

fix(sandbox): expose DEERFLOW_USER_ID to every bash command (#6058)
* fix(sandbox): expose DEERFLOW_USER_ID to bash commands

A skill's SKILL.md can trigger scripts, but those scripts run as bash
subprocesses inside the sandbox and cannot reach the Gateway auth context,
so get_effective_user_id() is unavailable to them and user-scoped skills
are impossible to write. The maintainer settled the direction on #3919:
inject the id as DEERFLOW_USER_ID.

Every bash command now begins with 'export DEERFLOW_USER_ID=<resolved>; '
(or 'unset' when the resolved id is unusable), mirroring the existing
DEERFLOW_CHANNEL_USER_ID channel-identity prefix (#3914). The id rides the
command string rather than execute_command(env=...), because a non-empty env
switches AioSandbox to the bash.exec API reserved for request-scoped secrets.

The earlier attempt (#4029) was closed for making every command carry the
new export without updating the exact-command assertions in
tests/test_channel_user_id_env.py. Those assertions are updated here, and the
composition of the two prefixes is pinned by a dedicated test.

* fix(sandbox): fix the DEERFLOW_USER_ID unit test and cover review findings

Follow-up to the review on this PR.

Unit test (CI `backend-unit-tests (2)`): the change moved the command
contract but left the exact-command assertion in
tests/test_skill_request_scoped_secrets.py::test_local_bash_forwards_env_and_timeout
expecting the bare `echo hi`. The local validation run used a `-k` filter that
did not select that file, so the breakage was invisible there. The assertion
now pins the composed command, and `_is_windows` is patched explicitly so it no
longer depends on the host OS.

[P2] Windows local sandbox: `export` is invalid under the PowerShell/cmd.exe
fallback, but skipping the prefix outright left the promise unmet on Windows.
The id is published through `execute_command(env=...)` there instead:
LocalSandbox layers `env` into the per-process environment and, unlike
AioSandbox, has no persistent session that could carry a stale value. It is
deliberately kept out of `injected_env` so the identifier does not enter the
secret-redaction set.

Docstring: `_user_identity_prefix` now carries the same "informational, not
authenticated identity" caveat the channel variable has in
backend/app/channels/AGENTS.md. The value is authorization-grade at the Gateway
boundary, but any bash command can overwrite its own environment, so skills
must not treat the shell variable as proof of identity.

Docs: the en/zh sandbox.mdx identity sections and the channels/AGENTS.md
identity paragraph now describe the second, outermost prefix, its ordering
against the channel prefix, and the Windows behaviour.

fix(integrations): keep Lark runtime status consistent (#5994)
* fix(integrations): keep Lark runtime status consistent

Probe sandbox runtime readiness for every Lark mutation response outside the credential lock. Expose explicit sandbox_runtime_probed state so the frontend can distinguish conservative fallbacks without inferring semantics from runtime detail text, while cancelling stale reads before updating the cache.

* style(frontend): format Lark cache test

* fix(integrations): snapshot Lark credential status under the lock

Why this change is needed:
PR #5994 moved the post-mutation status read outside the per-user
credential lock so the new sandbox runtime probe would not extend the
critical section. As flagged in review, that lets a concurrent app
switch or auth flow land between the committed mutation and the status
read; in remote-provisioner mode the runtime probe can spend seconds
before probe_lark_auth runs, so the raced switch can clear the new
tokens and make a completed login report success=false, or mix an old
app_id with a newer auth state.

What changed:
- add _LarkCredentialSnapshot (app config + auth probe) and capture it
in the same _lark_credential_lock section that commits the mutation
- thread the snapshot through _get_lark_mutation_status into
  get_lark_integration_status(credential_snapshot=...); only the
credential-independent runtime probe still runs after the lock
- apply to complete_lark_auth, complete_lark_config, and
set_lark_app_credentials; install keeps the one-shot status build

Problem solved:
Mutation responses stay tied to the just-committed credential
generation: a raced app switch can no longer flip a completed
device-code login to success=false or blend a stale app_id with newer
auth state, while the runtime probe stays off the lock.

* fix(integrations): address Lark status review follow-ups

- install_lark_integration: snapshot credential-derived status fields
under _lark_credential_lock so the install response cannot mix newer
credential state read across the unlocked runtime probe
- useInstallLarkIntegration: route the cache write through
cacheLarkMutationStatus so install cancels in-flight reads and keeps
probed runtime fields under frontend/backend version skew
- README: soften the UI claim - the status API exposes
sandbox_runtime_probed and the mutation cache honors it

* test(integrations): tighten Lark status fixtures and guidance docs

- cache.test: use a distinct mutation runtime mode in the unprobed-merge
case so the assertions prove the cached runtime fields win
- e2e mock: include broker in the sandbox_runtime_mode union cast so the
  fixture cannot drift from LarkSandboxRuntimeMode
- AGENTS.md (gateway + skills): mention sandbox_runtime_probed alongside
the existing runtime readiness fields, keeping the gateway guidance
  file under its byte budget

* fix(integrations): harden Lark mutation cache against skew and races

- cacheLarkMutationStatus: await cancelQueries before writing so an
in-flight GET whose fetch already resolved cannot clobber the fresher
mutation status, matching the existing threads/archive pattern
- self-heal version skew: an unprobed (pre-field backend) mutation
response now triggers a status refetch instead of risking the
conservative runtime fallback lingering until the next focus/remount
- api: normalize a missing sandbox_runtime_probed to false at the
boundary so the declared-non-optional type matches skewed runtimes
- tests: pin the skew contract (missing-field cases for cache and api)
and add a useInstallLarkIntegration regression test proving the
install cache write goes through cacheLarkMutationStatus
- README: describe the probed flag as cross-version semantics instead of
claiming the same-version API surfaces both states
- lark_cli: note that install's credential snapshot runs the auth probe
subprocess while holding the credential lock

* refactor(integrations): derive sandbox_runtime_probed inside the resolver

_resolve_sandbox_runtime_readiness now returns a fourth probed element
next to the branch that produces the unevaluated remote fallback, so the
'was readiness actually evaluated' invariant can no longer drift from the
fallback logic it mirrors. Callers and resolver-level tests updated to
pin probed per branch.

fix(tui): report headless --print/--json failures instead of leaking tracebacks (#5963)
* fix(tui): report headless --print/--json failures instead of leaking tracebacks

The headless --print and --json runners dispatched straight into the
embedded client with no error boundary, so session-creation, thread-
resolution, chat, and stream failures escaped main() and surfaced as
unhandled Python tracebacks from the console script - for example the
documented CheckpointModeMismatchError case, which the checkpoint
operations/troubleshooting docs recorded as a raw traceback.

Both runners now catch Exception (KeyboardInterrupt/SystemExit still
propagate), mirroring the TUI's stream_actions() boundary:

- --print writes one concise 'Error: ...' line to stderr and returns 1
- --json appends a terminal {"type": "error"} record to the NDJSON
stream (diagnostics stay on stderr) and returns 1; every stdout line
remains independently valid JSON, including failures mid-stream

The checkpoint operations/troubleshooting docs (en + zh) no longer
describe the headless runners as printing an uncaught traceback.

Fixes #5962

* fix(tui): close the broken-pipe edge and document the --json error contract

Review follow-ups on #5963 (both non-blocking):

- print(answer) sat outside the headless boundary, so a consumer closing
the pipe early (deerflow --print ... | head) still got a
BrokenPipeError traceback plus the interpreter's shutdown-flush noise.
The final --print write and the --json terminal error-record write now
catch BrokenPipeError, point the stdout descriptor at devnull (the
documented SIGPIPE-adjacent recipe) and exit 1 without a traceback.
- The terminal {"type": "error"} record is a real contract for --json
scripters but was only documented in the checkpoint pages; the
backend/docs/TUI.md command table and the README cheat line now state
the error record and the exit-1 semantics where CLI consumers look.

fix(frontend): keep additional_kwargs on the optimistic bubble through an upload (#5982)
* fix(frontend): keep additional_kwargs on the optimistic bubble through an upload

When a send carried files, the upload-complete update replaced the
optimistic human message's additional_kwargs with only the uploaded
files. Quote and conversation reference chips vanished until the server
echoed the message, and project attachments staged with the send were
missing from the bubble both while uploading and after. The submitted
message was always intact.

The optimistic copy (before and after the upload) and the submit now
build additional_kwargs through one helper,
buildHumanMessageAdditionalKwargs, and share a single uploaded-files
value, so the bubble always matches what was sent.

feat(community): add Unbrowse web fetch provider (#5981)
* feat(community): add Unbrowse web fetch provider

Add a community web_fetch provider backed by Unbrowse
(https://unbrowse.ai), a hosted service that returns a page as markdown,
over plain HTTP when that is enough and through a cloud browser when the
page needs JavaScript. The tool sends one JSON-RPC tools/call POST
(unbrowse.scrape) to Unbrowse's MCP endpoint, so it needs no extra Python
package and no MCP client (uses httpx, already a dependency).

Unbrowse is not a general web search engine, so only web_fetch is added.

Changes:
- backend/packages/harness/deerflow/community/unbrowse/{__init__,tools}.py
web_fetch_tool with the same output shape as the Sofya, Exa and
Firecrawl fetch tools (# <title> plus markdown, 4KB cap). API key is read
from the config.yaml api_key field or the UNBROWSE_API_KEY env var.
Optional render: auto|never|always; unknown values log a warning and fall
back to auto. JSON-RPC errors, isError tool results, HTTP errors and
malformed payloads come back as "Error: ..." strings.
- backend/tests/test_unbrowse_tools.py: key resolution, render handling,
request shape, structuredContent vs text payloads, error paths.
- scripts/doctor.py, scripts/wizard/providers.py: register the key and the
web_fetch provider; backend/tests/test_doctor.py covers both doctor paths.
- config.example.yaml, .env.example, backend/docs/CONFIGURATION.md,
  tools/AGENTS.md, EN/ZH harness/tools.mdx: document the provider.

fix(models): deep-merge when_thinking_enabled on the legacy path (#5894)
* fix(models): deep-merge when_thinking_enabled on the legacy path

The legacy thinking path (profiles without a `reasoning:` block, i.e. every
existing config.yaml) applied `when_thinking_enabled` with a shallow
`dict.update`, so a template such as `extra_body.thinking.type=enabled`
replaced the profile's whole `extra_body` and silently dropped sibling keys
like GLM's `extra_body.tool_stream` — but only while thinking was on. The
disable branch of the same function already deep-merged into `extra_body`,
and the contract path added in #5780 deep-merges through `_merge_settings`
for exactly this reason (its docstring names `tool_stream`). The on/off
asymmetry cannot be intended: the same profile sent `tool_stream` with
thinking off and lost it with thinking on.

Route the enable template through `_merge_settings` as well. Precedence is
unchanged (template values win on conflicts); the only observable
difference is that keys present only in the profile now survive a
thinking-on request. Everything else on the legacy path — the synthesized
`reasoning_effort=minimal`, the disable payloads, the supports_thinking
guard — is untouched.

Tests pin both directions for a base extra_body beside a thinking template,
recursive merging of nested chat_template_kwargs, and template precedence.

* docs(changelog): reference #5894 in the when_thinking_enabled entries

* fix(models): keep the template's vLLM switch spelling authoritative when merging

Review follow-up. Deep-merging the thinking template into a profile keeps
both spellings of vLLM's toggle when they differ — base
`chat_template_kwargs.enable_thinking: false` plus a template using the
legacy `thinking: true` alias — and VllmChatModel's normalizer maps the
alias onto `enable_thinking` only when the latter is absent, so the
profile's `false` won and thinking stayed off despite thinking_enabled=True.
The previous shallow replacement never hit this because it discarded the
base switch. The contract path had the same trap since it already
deep-merged, and both disable branches had the mirror image (a base
`enable_thinking: true` outlived a template `thinking: false`).

Route every thinking on/off merge through _merge_thinking_payload: it drops
the profile's *other* spelling of the switch before the deep merge, so the
payload's spelling decides in both directions on both paths, and unrelated
chat_template_kwargs still survive.

Tests cover both spelling combinations, both directions, and both paths,
asserting the switch as the provider will send it after normalization.

* fix(models): deep-merge the legacy disable template and mirror the vLLM switch instead of pruning

Review of the previous head found two regressions. The legacy
when_thinking_disabled branch was still dict.update-ed, so a profile that
declares both templates (the shape of most extra_body examples) kept
tool_stream while thinking was on and lost it while off. And the merge
pruned the profile's other vLLM switch spelling for every model class,
although only VllmChatModel maps `thinking` onto `enable_thinking`: on a
plain ChatOpenAI profile the prune removed the only key vLLM reads, so
thinking-off could no longer switch reasoning off.

Route when_thinking_disabled through _merge_thinking_payload too, and
replace the prune with mirroring: after the deep merge, the value the
payload declares for its switch spelling is copied onto the profile's
other spelling when the profile carries it. VllmChatModel collapses the
pair, plain OpenAI-compatible classes send both, and either way the
server reads the template's intent. No spelling is invented, a payload
that spells both is left alone, and non-mapping template values are
forwarded unchanged instead of raising. _VLLM_THINKING_SWITCHES is now
the single definition used by the disable, toggle and dialect helpers.

Docs state the merge semantics (keys are never removed; a template can
only add or override) and drop the "byte-for-byte" wording; tests cover
the disable template on/off, nested inheritance, non-mapping values, the
raw payload for a non-normalizing class, and the no-invention rule.

* fix(models): copy thinking templates on merge and document the never-remove rule

Review follow-up. Templates merged into the constructor settings were
stored by reference wherever the profile lacked the key, so the kwargs
handed to the model class aliased the cached ModelConfig; the mirroring
step now writes into that mapping, so make _merge_settings and
_deep_merge_dicts deep-copy every template mapping they store. Pinned at
every depth by a test that also checks the profile is unchanged.

Deep-merging the legacy when_thinking_disabled template means it can no
longer clear a key the profile's base extra_body sets: a base
extra_body.thinking {type: enabled, budget_tokens} reaches the provider
as {type: disabled, budget_tokens}, which Anthropic-style APIs reject.
The synthesized disable payloads and the contract path already behaved
this way. State the rule and the migration (enable-only keys belong in
when_thinking_enabled) in the changelog, models/AGENTS.md and
configuration.mdx, and pin it with a test for both shapes.

Route the legacy synthesized OpenAI disable through
_merge_thinking_payload too (identical output), narrow the docstring and
guidance wording about the native-Anthropic disable, and make the two
vLLM switch suites resolve the real VllmChatModel / ChatOpenAI classes
so a class-gated merge would fail the case it is named after.

docs(memory): correct backend contract details in the MemoryManager guide (#5943)
Follow-up to #5929. A config or custom backend written from a few
statements on the page fails:
- OpenViking's failure_policy.read takes fail_open or raise, and the
  backend supports middleware mode only.
- from_config is abstract, so it belongs in the mandatory set.
- Tool mode also needs get_memory() and fact CRUD, because it skips the
  per-turn add() writes.
- Management methods return the DeerMem shape, and create_fact returns a
  (memory_data, fact_id) tuple.
- staleness_review_enabled is on by default, and the governance flags
  live under memory.backend_config.

The zh page gets the same fixes plus a typo (回记 -> 召回).

feat(agents): persist tool artifacts as resolvable handles (#4676) (#4929)
* feat(agents): persist tool artifacts as resolvable handles (#4676)

MCP and sandbox tools return file paths, URLs, and task ids that are
lost when context compaction summarizes the conversation. This adds a
per-thread artifact handle registry so the model can reference
artifacts by short deterministic handles (art_xxxxxxxx) that survive
compaction and resolve to real references at the tool-call boundary.

- ThreadState.tool_artifacts: reducer channel capped at 100 entries,
  same-handle latest-wins, survives summarization compaction
- artifact_registry: deterministic handle derivation from
  (thread_id, tool_call_id, call_index); extraction precedence
  structured_content -> file/image blocks -> conservative text scan;
HTML-escaped model-context rendering with char budget
- ArtifactCaptureMiddleware: before_model hook captures lightweight
metadata (never content) and tracks handle consumption
- ArtifactResolutionMiddleware: rewrites handles in tool-call args to
real references before execution; unknown handles untouched
- DurableContextMiddleware: projects the registry into the hidden
  durable-context data block ([available]/[consumed] status)
- config: new tool_artifacts section (all switches default on)
- frontend: artifact badges on tool-call steps keyed by tool_call_id

Fixes #4676

* fix(agents): harden artifact registry after review (#4676)

Review findings on #4929:

- capture/consumption updates emitted in the same before_model call are
now concatenated instead of dict-merged; dict-merging clobbered the
shared tool_artifacts key and permanently dropped fresh captures
- handles embed a per-result ordinal so multiple references inside one
tool result never collide (two paths in one text block previously
  collapsed into one handle)
- structured_content extraction pulls concrete refs from known keys
(file/path/url/task_id/..., string or list-of-string values) instead
of storing a truncated JSON preview, falls back to an untruncated
whole-object data entry, and no longer skips file/image content blocks
- plain-string tool results (e.g. bash/write_file output) are scanned
for sandbox paths / remote URLs too, gated by detect_refs_in_text
- wire max_entries through configure_tool_artifact_max_entries at
assembly (clamped 10..1000) and gate detect_refs_in_text scans
- resolution requires both enabled and resolve_handles_in_args,
  matching its docs
- add real ToolCallRequest.override coverage and the spec 14.4
integration cycle (capture -> inject -> resolve -> consumption)

* fix(agents): address second-round artifact registry review (#4676)

Follow-up findings on #4929:

- drop generic `output`/`outputs` from structured ref keys: prose under
those keys no longer becomes a bogus file entry (falls back to the
whole-object data entry; path-shaped refs are still caught by the
  free-text scan)
- strip closing quotes, brackets, and backticks from detected refs so
markdown- and JSON-wrapped paths resolve to clean real references
- remove the process-wide cap setter: the reducer enforces only an
absolute ceiling (1000) and ArtifactCaptureMiddleware applies the
configured max_entries per agent when emitting updates, so agents
with different configs in one process never share or flap a cap
- skip extraction for tool messages whose tool_call_id already has
registry entries and memoize known-empty results (bounded FIFO), so
steady-state capture cost drops to the new message tail instead of a
  full-history rescan per model call
- correct the inverted ordering claim: capture is position-independent
in the wrap chain because it is a before_model hook reading state
messages; fixed the assembly comment, AGENTS.md item 15, and the
  ordering test docstring

CI parity verified locally: ruff check + format --check, full offline
suite, blocking-io suite, collect-only, uv lock --check,
check_agent_guidance, frontend format/lint/typecheck/build/tests.

* fix(agents): sliding-window cap and URI gates for artifact registry (#4676)

Third-round review findings on #4929:

- max_entries is now a sliding retention window: fresh captures are
always registered, and when the projection exceeds the configured
  cap the middleware appends a trailing {"op": "trim_to", "keep": N}
directive that the reducer applies by evicting the oldest entries.
The previous remaining-budget emission froze the registry at the cap,
permanently dropping post-compaction artifacts — the exact failure
mode #4676 targets — and silently disabled the round-2 rescan
optimizations at the point threads grew longest
- _track_consumption memoizes settled tool-call args in a bounded FIFO
alongside the existing empty-result memo, so historical AIMessage
args are not regex-rescanned every model call
- file/image content-block URLs must be http(s) or path-shaped;
data:/blob: URIs (MCP embedded resources carrying base64 payloads)
can no longer enter thread state, tool args, or crowd out the render
budget; protocol-relative //host forms are rejected as well
- structured-content ref values go through the same URI-shape gate as
content blocks, closing the embedded-payload hole via known keys such
  as url/urls
- tool_artifacts.enabled now gates the whole middleware including
consumption tracking via an early return in before_model

Docs updated to describe the sliding window, URI gates, enabled scope,
and both bounded memos.

* fix(agents): final evictions and pending-aware consumption for artifact registry (#4676)

Fourth-round review findings on #4929:

- the sliding window interacted with the seen_call_ids skip to
resurrect evicted entries every round: once an entry was trimmed, its
tool_call_id left the seen set while its ToolMessage stayed in
context, so the next model call re-extracted it, re-registered it as
newest, and evicted something else — a never-converging rotation.
The empty-result memo is now a unified _processed_results memo that
records every extraction regardless of outcome, making evictions
final; steady state over a saturated thread is quiescent (pinned by
a multi-round test asserting no updates and zero extractions)
- the consumption scan built its handle map from pre-capture state, so
a call referencing a handle captured in the same before_model call
missed, got settled as quiet, and its consumption mark was lost
forever. _track_consumption now receives the pending capture entries
and resolves against state + pending; a call settles as quiet only
after every referenced handle resolved, so transient misses retry
next round instead of permanently suppressing the mark

AGENTS.md entry 15 updated to describe both memos and the
eviction-is-final semantics.

* fix(artifacts): address occurrence identity, PII and URL review findings

* fix(artifacts): enforce resolved policy checks and bounded registry handling

fix(frontend): stop treating a fence line with an info string as a closer (#5919)
CommonMark forbids an info string on a closing fence, so "```python" inside a
plain ``` fence is content, not the end of the block. The closer check that two
fence consumers share only compared character and run length, which ends the
block early and pushes whatever follows back into prose: on the render path a
system marker inside the sample loses its tags and its content becomes visible
text, and on the export path stripInternalMarkers deletes real user content from
the thread markdown.

mermaid.ts already had the correct predicate privately. Move it into the shared
leaf module and use it from both consumers, so the three fence scanners in
core/streamdown and core/messages agree on what closes a block.

fix(projects): label untitled threads in the conversation-files view (#5879)
* fix(projects): label untitled threads in the conversation-files view

GET /api/projects/{id}/threads/files returns each member thread's
display_name as `str | None`: the thread meta row is created with NULL and
only filled once title generation has run after the first reply, or never
if that step fails. The frontend's ProjectThreadFileGroup declared the field
as a required string and ConversationFileGroup rendered it verbatim, so a
thread whose files were uploaded before its first reply showed them under
an empty heading. The sibling ProjectThread type already models the field
as nullable and every consumer of it falls back to t.projects.untitled.

Make the group type nullable to match the wire, and render the heading
through a shared threadTitle() helper that both the thread-name map and the
file group now use, so the "Untitled" rule lives in one place.

The DOM test covers null, missing and whitespace-only titles.

feat(authz): add plugin resource targets, provenance, action and management enforcement (#5842)
* feat(authz): add plugin resource targets, provenance, action and management enforcement

PR1 of the extension-tool-authorization series
(docs/plans/2026-09-24-extension-tool-authorization-spec.md): plugin
authorization plumbing, no new author-facing declaration.

- `authz/plugin_targets.py` is the single encoder/validator for composite
targets (`namespace/part`), with one validating composer behind three
kind-checked constructors; invalid input raises instead of degrading.
- `authz/plugin_authz.py` is the harness decision layer (`plugin_action`,
`plugin_management`, plus the batch filters the page slice will consume):
disabled is a no-op, an explicit deny raises, and provider errors follow
  `fail_closed` like the sandbox gate.
- `POST /api/plugins/{ns}/actions/{name}` decides `plugin_action:invoke`
after the action resolves and before the body is streamed.
- `deerflow_extension_api.auth` publishes `require_plugin_management` /
`arequire_plugin_management` with two `app.state` resolver keys; the
Gateway installs both. Contract version 0.2.3 -> 0.2.4.
- `tools/tool_provenance.py` records host-written plugin provenance for
display (assembly descriptor, Layer-2 context later); no decision reads a
  label.
- Plugin providers use a `(config signature, loop key)` cache so a
loop-affine provider is never handed to another loop or to a sync caller.
- RBAC gains `plugin_actions` / `plugin_management` aliases;
  `config_version` 47 -> 48 across the three mirrors.

Tests: new plugin target/provenance/action/management suites plus a
blocking-IO anchor whose offloads were reverted to prove red->green.

* fix(authz): decide plugin resources from the request's config snapshot

Review round 1 on PR #5842 (willem-bd).

P1 — the decision layer no longer reloads the configuration. The six
`authz/plugin_authz.py` functions take a required `app_config` snapshot (the
same request-scoped config the Gateway used to resolve the provider), and
`resolve_/aresolve_plugin_authorization` return it as a third element, so
`enabled`/`fail_closed` can never come from a second read that drifted from
the one that produced the provider. A snapshot the caller could not read at
all is *unavailable*, not disabled: it fails closed as
`authz.config_unavailable`. The Gateway's `_plugin_app_config` now separates
an absent `config.yaml` (no gate, today's behavior) from a config that exists
but cannot be read or validated (deny) instead of swallowing both through
`safe_app_config`.

P2 — `_validated_decision` requires `type(decision.allow) is bool` on both
the sync `authorize` and async `aauthorize` paths, so a provider returning
`AuthzDecision(allow="false")` is a malformed verdict that follows
`fail_closed` instead of being read as an allow.

Both fixes are covered by regression tests that were verified red against the
pre-fix behavior (P1: 200 vs 403 and resolver True vs False; P2: 12 cases
across fail_closed/fail_open and sync/async), plus tests pinning that an
absent config and `authorization.enabled: false` keep today's behavior.

* fix(authz): treat a request-time config absence as unavailable

Review round 2 on PR #5842 (willem-bd).

P1 — `_plugin_app_config[_async]` no longer maps a missing `config.yaml` to
`None` ("no gate"). A Gateway cannot have started without a readable config
(`app/gateway/app.py` reads it through this same accessor in `lifespan`), so
absence *during a request* means the configuration this process was running on
became unavailable — a hot reload, an atomic replace, a ConfigMap remount. It is
unavailable, not disabled: the error propagates,
`resolve_/aresolve_plugin_authorization` raise
`_PluginAuthorizationUnavailable(fail_closed=True)`, the action dispatcher
returns 403 and the management resolvers answer `False`. The dead
`(None, None, None)` allow path is gone, the resolvers return a non-optional
`AppConfig` as their third element, and callers key "authorization disabled" on
`provider is None` alone. This matches the rule the decision layer already
documented (`authz.config_unavailable`) and the public docs.

P2 — `_deny_reason_code` is total: a `reasons` that is not iterable degrades the
code to `authz.denied` instead of raising `TypeError` outside the guarded
provider path, which turned a denial into an unhandled error. It is deliberately
not folded into `_validated_decision`: `allow` was a real `bool`, so the verdict
is a valid denial, and treating it as malformed would flip it to an allow under
`fail_closed: false`.

Both fixes are covered by regression tests verified red against the pre-fix
behavior (P1: resolver True vs False, async `PermissionError` not raised, route
200 vs 403; P2: `TypeError: 'NoneType' object is not iterable` at
`plugin_authz.py:113`). The action-route tests in
`tests/test_plugin_contributions.py` now install a readable
`authorization.enabled: false` config instead of relying on a config-less
process, and `docs/full-stack-plugins.md` plus the PR1 decision log record the
new rule.

* fix(authz): apply the running policy when the plugin config is unreadable

Follow-up to f03d2ea9 (review round 2 on PR #5842, willem-bd).

The first attempt read the P1 finding as "absence is never disabled" and failed
every config read closed unconditionally. That is too broad for this repo: a
config-less host is deliberately treated as having no policy to apply
(`_get_route_authorization_config` falls back to a disabled config,
`sandbox_authz.safe_app_config` documents the same no-op for "CI runners and
direct-call tests"), and the rule turned the config-less e2e plugin host
(`extension_test_fixtures.bookmark_plugin_gateway`) into a 403 — the three
`bookmark-plugin.spec.ts` cases lost the save action. Reproduced locally:
`POST /api/plugins/community.bookmarks/actions/save` against that fixture host
returned 403 before, 200 after this change.

The rule is now "has this process loaded a configuration?", not "was the last
read successful?":

- No loaded config (`peek_loaded_app_config()`, new read-only accessor on
`deerflow.config.app_config`) and no `config.yaml`: no policy to apply, so the
gate stays a no-op — unchanged for CI runners, direct-call tests and hosts
that mount only the plugins router.
- A loaded config whose file disappears or cannot be read: *unavailable*, never
*disabled*. The resolvers raise `_PluginAuthorizationUnavailable` carrying the
failure flag of the configuration this process runs on (authorization
  disabled there -> no gate; enabled -> that policy's `fail_closed`, `True` by
default), so an enabled Gateway answers 403/False in the window instead of
letting protected plugin actions and management routes through.
- A config file that exists but cannot be read or validated right now: fail
closed when nothing is loaded (round 1's rule), otherwise the loaded policy
  decides.

`peek_loaded_app_config()` is preferred over a Gateway-side startup snapshot: it
reflects the last successfully loaded config, so a hot-reloaded policy is what
applies during the window, and there is no lifecycle hook to keep in sync.

Evidence: the three no-config/lost-config branches in
`tests/test_plugin_management_guard.py` and
`tests/test_plugin_action_authorization.py`, round 1's unreadable-config tests
unchanged, `test_peek_loaded_app_config_survives_a_missing_file` in
`tests/test_app_config_reload.py`, and the fixture-host probe above. Docs
(`docs/full-stack-plugins.md`, `reference.mdx` en/zh) and the PR1 decision log
state the final rule; the log records the superseded variant.

* fix(authz): keep a denial whose reasons raise while being read

* fix(authz): intersect plugin batch filters with the candidates

The plugin_page/plugin_management batch helpers returned the provider's
`filter_resources` answer verbatim, so a custom provider could hand the
projections a target that was never asked about ("*", another namespace,
a phantom page). Every other filter call site re-projects from its own
candidate list; do the same here, state the intersection on the provider
contract, and pin it with a regression test that fails on the old
pass-through.

* docs(plugins): map a management denial to 403 in the route example

The contributed-route example called `arequire_plugin_management` and let
the documented `PermissionError` escape. The Gateway installs no
`PermissionError` handler, so a route copied from the example answered 500
on a normal policy denial instead of 403. Both example routes now translate
the denial, and the surrounding bullets say why the translation is the
route's job.

* docs(extensions): point the 0.2.4 contract row at the PR that ships it

Every other row in the version-history table links the pull request that
shipped the version; 0.2.4 linked the authorization tracking issue instead.
Both the English and Chinese tables now link this PR.

docs(checkpoints): add a ten-chapter checkpoint storage manual in both languages (#5845)
* docs(checkpoints): add a bilingual checkpoint storage manual

Add the missing docs-site coverage for dual-mode checkpoint storage (`database.checkpoint_channel_mode: full | delta`) as a ten-chapter manual under `harness/checkpoints/` in both languages: concepts, quick start, channel modes, snapshot cadence, history cache, resume and rollback, operating checkpoints, observability, troubleshooting by symptom, and a reference of every configuration key, error message, HTTP status mapping, public symbol, load-bearing test, and pinned upstream defect.

The index page is `asIndexPage`, so `/docs/harness/checkpoints` is the section itself and its `_meta.ts` lists only the nine child chapters. Discovery: `harness/_meta.ts` registers the section, the harness configuration module table gains a `database` row, and the thread persistence section of `agents-and-threads` links to the manual.

Content is grounded in the code. Only the three measured values recorded in `backend/docs/runtime-guidance-details.md` are quoted; the upstream-derived 41x storage figure in the untracked delta-channel RFC is deliberately not cited. Pinned upstream defects are documented with their issue and PR numbers and the versions they are pinned at (`langgraph 1.2.9`, `langgraph-checkpoint 4.2.0`, `langgraph-checkpoint-postgres 3.1.2`).

* docs(checkpoints): correct the history-cache restart requirement

The history cache is built with the checkpointer at Gateway startup (`langgraph_runtime()` -> `make_checkpointer()` -> `make_checkpoint_cache()`), so editing `database.checkpoint_cache.*` does not change a running process. The manual previously marked the whole section "not restart-required", which conflated "not frozen for correctness" with "hot-reloadable" and could mislead an operator changing capacity, credentials, or retention.

Distinguish the two properties everywhere the section is described: history-cache.mdx marks every field as needing a restart and adds a callout explaining the difference, reference.mdx redefines the Restart column and fixes the five rows and the effect list (adding the `asyncprov` evidence alias), troubleshooting.mdx replaces the "two keys need no restart" claim and gains a dedicated symptom entry, and observability.mdx notes that changed counters need a restart. The Chinese text is corrected in parallel.

Verified: the docs link test and the docs unit suite pass, frontmatter parses for all 20 pages, and every in-page anchor resolves on the rendered English and Chinese history-cache, troubleshooting, reference, and observability pages.

* docs(checkpoints): account for periodic snapshots in the storage-growth claim

Every periodic snapshot stores the entire message list as of that step (`_DeltaSnapshot(ch.get())`, persisted as a checkpoint blob), so with a fixed snapshot frequency K the retained total after N turns is O(N²/K + N), not O(N). The manual claimed unconditional linear growth, which understated capacity planning — the more so because nothing in DeerFlow prunes those snapshots yet.

Distinguish per-step delta writes from total retained storage in index.mdx (prose and table), modes.mdx (step-cost row), and operations.mdx; note in cadence.mdx that K is also the capacity knob that scales the snapshot bytes. The English and Chinese chapters are corrected in parallel. The reference chapter keeps the released #4292 wording as a verbatim quotation and now names the retained-storage bound beside it.

Verified: `_DeltaSnapshot(ch.get())` and its blob serialization in the pinned langgraph (channels/delta.py:196-198, checkpoint/serde/types.py:19-25) confirm the premise; the docs link test and docs unit suite pass; all ten changed pages render with resolving anchors and no stale linear-growth wording.

* docs(checkpoints): correct the run-error surfaces and repair two evidence pointers

Review follow-ups on the checkpoint manual, both languages.

Error-surface corrections:
- Run creation is not always asynchronous: when a thread's run-event feed is
empty but a checkpoint head exists, ensure_checkpoint_history_seeded reads
that head inside start_run, where only ConflictError (409) and
UnsupportedStrategyError (501) are mapped, so a mode mismatch returns a
plain 500 before admission. Troubleshooting, observability and the
reference route tables now scope the "does not pre-gate" claim.
- The 503 symptom is retargeted. Only Gateway startup, make_lead_agent and
DeerFlowClient.__init__ call the freeze helpers, so a config.yaml edit
cannot make a state/history/thread route answer 503. A mode edit is
injected over by the run worker and ignored until a restart; a cadence edit
fails the next run with the restart-required message. The router's 503
mapping is marked defensive in modes and the reference.
- The regenerate section title no longer groups the state endpoints, which
  map a mismatch to 409.
- operations: the Textual TUI catches the mismatch through stream_actions();
only the headless --print/--json runners print a traceback.

Evidence-pointer repairs:
- reference: this branch's CHANGELOG insertion shifted the #5734 entry from
  3032-3039 to 3040-3048; the citation is re-pointed.
- reference: the #8548 row cited an untracked worktree plan file; replaced by
the in-repo test anchor, and "mirror issue #8551" reworded to "related".
- reference: new `agent` alias for the agent-factory freeze sites.
- history-cache: the bare `deps:`/`asyncprov:` aliases are expanded to full
paths; the alias legend lives only on the reference page.

* docs(checkpoints): say a delta fork is accepted, not refused

"Delta mode cannot fork" overstated the constraint. Nothing in the stack
rejects the fork: LangGraph stores the second child, no saver checks for an
existing sibling, and ensure_checkpoint_mode_compatible returns immediately
when the process mode is delta. What breaks is the read — the walk replays
the abandoned sibling's writes stored under the shared parent.

Reproduced on the pinned stack (langgraph 1.2.9 / langgraph-checkpoint
4.2.0, AsyncSqliteSaver) by running this repo's own #4458 fixture without
the linearization call: the forked resume returns
["h1", "a1", "h2", "a2", "a2-new"] instead of ["h1", "a1", "h2", "a2-new"],
i.e. the superseded answer comes back.

- resume-and-rollback: title/description/heading now say "cannot fork
correctly"; new "Forks are accepted, not refused" subsection covering the
  unguarded write side.
- troubleshooting: the "old answer reappears" cause states the same split.
- reference: the POST /threads/{id}/state row notes that a client-supplied
checkpoint_id older than the head is applied as a delta fork with no
linearization — the write shape upstream tracks as #8551 (open), which the
  run-path linearization does not cover.

* docs(checkpoints): scope the unguarded state-update fork to what the probe showed

The previous commit said a mutation against an older checkpoint stores its
writes under the shared parent and implied the sibling branch suffers for it.
Probing the pinned stack (AsyncSqliteSaver, delta messages channel) shows:

- the write does land under the shared parent and joins the write set the
parent's other children walk (raw walk for a sibling includes the abandoned
  head's own write);
- but reducer channels are written with Overwrite, which replaces the
accumulated value, so the forked branch reads clean and the abandoned
  branch is unchanged in that shape — #8551 did not reproduce;

state the masking mechanism and the upstream tracking issue, not a corruption
claim.

* docs(checkpoints): fix a frontmatter description that broke the docs build

`resume-and-rollback.mdx` shipped `description: Delta mode cannot fork a
thread correctly: a forked delta read ...` in the previous commit. The
unquoted ": " turns the value into a nested mapping, so Nextra's YAML
frontmatter parse failed and the e2e lane could not start its web server
(YAMLParseError at line 2, column 14) — the exact failure class this manual
warns docs authors about, introduced by me two commits ago.

- Replace the colon with an em dash in the English description (the Chinese
one uses a full-width colon and was unaffected).
- Add tests/unit/content/docs-frontmatter.test.ts: every `src/content/**/*.mdx`
frontmatter block must be YAML-parseable, implemented as the one rule that
actually breaks it (an unquoted scalar containing ": "), because the unit
suite never compiles MDX and only a build or a dev render catches it.
Verified the guard fails on the broken line and passes on the fix.

Verified with a clean `BETTER_AUTH_SECRET=local-dev-secret pnpm build` on this
tree: all pages prerender, resume-and-rollback EN/ZH included.

`deerflow.agents.memory.storage` does not exist (memory/__init__.py says

feat(models): add declarative reasoning capability contract (#5780)
* feat(models): add declarative reasoning capability contract (#5073)

Introduce an optional per-model `reasoning:` block beside the legacy
`supports_thinking` / `supports_reasoning_effort` booleans. It declares
thinking availability (unsupported | optional | required), the accepted
effort values with aliases, default, and serialization path, the payload
dialect, and the reasoning-history requirement. When present the booleans
are derived from it and contradictory profiles fail at config load.

`deerflow.models.reasoning` normalizes legacy and declared profiles into
one immutable contract and resolves every caller's generic request against
it. `create_chat_model` is the single enforcement point: required-thinking
models never receive a synthesized disable payload, unsupported effort
values never reach the provider, and the dialect synthesizes the on/off
payload when no template exists. Legacy profiles keep the historical path
byte-for-byte. The lead agent and subagent descriptor resolve the same
policy first so run metadata reports effective values.

`/api/models` and `DeerFlowClient` project the contract as `reasoning`;
the frontend derives mode clamping and effort choices from it through
`core/models/reasoning.ts`, and user preferences accept provider-specific
effort tokens. The setup wizard's Z.AI GLM-5.3-Flash profile migrates to
the contract, restoring its low/high/max effort control.

* docs(models): move the reasoning contract guidance into models/AGENTS.md

backend/AGENTS.md sits within 46 bytes of the 96 KiB effective-chain hard
limit for the middlewares, runtime, sandbox, and subagents guides, so the
new section pushed scripts/check_agent_guidance.py over it. The models
guide is the nearest file for the factory and the contract module, and
its chain has ample room.

* fix(models): address review on the reasoning contract

- vLLM dialect: the enable path now mirrors whichever chat_template_kwargs
switch the template declares, like the disable path already did, so a
template using the older `thinking` key no longer also grows
  `enable_thinking`.
- Validate operator-supplied effort values at `effort.path` inside
  `when_thinking_enabled`, `when_thinking_disabled`, and the `thinking`
shortcut against the contract, not only the profile-level value; they are
forwarded when the caller chooses nothing, so the "unknown values never
reach the provider" guarantee now holds for them too.
- Constrain `effort.path` to dotted identifiers and reject single-segment
paths that would replace a whole mapping (`extra_body`, `thinking`,
  `model_kwargs`, `default_headers`, `default_query`).
- Z.AI GLM-5.3-Flash profile: `default: high` instead of `max`, because the
default also governs summarization, title generation, and subagent calls
that never choose an effort; `max` stays selectable. Documented in the
config example, the configuration manual, and the design note.

* fix(models): close reasoning contract review gaps

* fix(models): preserve native Ollama reasoning config

* fix(models): keep native reasoning strings and project reasoning into the descriptor

- `ModelConfig.reasoning` also accepts the level string ChatOllama takes
  for gpt-oss style models (`low` / `medium` / `high`); the factory forwards
both the boolean and the string on the legacy path, so profiles that
passed `reasoning: high` through before the contract field existed keep
  loading and keep sending it.
- The assembly descriptor no longer excludes `reasoning` from
`model_parameters`: the native ChatOllama value and a declared contract's
dialect/history/effort change the request payload, so they now move the
  assembly fingerprint.
- e2e: the sidecar spec pinned the pre-contract body where a model without
effort control still received `reasoning_effort: minimal`; the preset is
now dropped for such models (the Gateway discarded it anyway), so the
assertion expects the key to be absent.

docs: fix the documented skill and MCP enable/disable endpoints (#5778)
The docs site pointed at POST /api/extensions/{skills,mcp}/{name}/enable
and /disable, and backend/docs/API.md at POST /api/skills/{name}/enable
and /disable. None of these routes exist. The gateway toggles a skill
with PUT /api/skills/{skill_name} and an MCP server with
PATCH /api/mcp/config, both admin-only, which is also what the
frontend calls.

docs(configuration): document the real frontend API base variables (#5829)
The frontend environment table listed NEXT_PUBLIC_API_URL, which no code reads: the validated client schema in frontend/src/env.js only accepts NEXT_PUBLIC_BACKEND_BASE_URL, NEXT_PUBLIC_LANGGRAPH_BASE_URL, and NEXT_PUBLIC_STATIC_WEBSITE_ONLY, and frontend/src/core/config/index.ts builds the API base URL from the first two. Following the old row silently did nothing. Replace it with the two variables that actually override the Gateway and LangGraph base URLs.

fix(composer): keep IME-composition Enter out of the slash-skill catalog (#5741)
* fix(composer): keep IME-composition Enter out of the slash-skill catalog

`handlePromptTextareaKeyDown` called `handleSkillSuggestionKeyDown` with no
composition guard, unlike its two siblings: the inline-skill editor wraps the
same call in `isIMEComposing(...)` with a comment naming this exact hazard, and
`handlePromptHistoryKeyDown` checks it too. `PromptInputTextarea` calls the
prop's `onKeyDown` *before* its own `isIMEComposing` check, so the suggestion
handler won the event.

With an IME active and the `/` catalog open, pressing Enter to commit the
composition instead ran `event.preventDefault()` and applied the highlighted
suggestion — discarding the text still being composed and selecting a skill the
user never chose. The catalog opens from the live `textInput.value`, and React
`onChange` fires during composition, so a CJK user typing `/res` to reach a
skill hits it directly.

Guard the main composer's call site the same way the inline-skill editor does,
and pin it with a happy-dom regression test: `keyCode: 229` (the keydown a
browser reports for a key an active IME consumed) must leave both the catalog
and the draft untouched, while a plain Enter still selects the highlighted
skill.

Verified:
- new test `tests/unit/components/workspace/input-box-skill-suggestion-ime.dom.test.tsx`
fails on main (the IME case applies the skill) and passes here; the plain-Enter
  control case passes on both
- `rstest run --pool threads tests/unit/components/workspace` -> 69 files / 448
  tests passed
- `tsc --noEmit`, `eslint`, `prettier --check` clean on the touched files

* fix(composer): ignore the Enter that follows IME compositionend

Safari emits the confirming Enter after compositionend, with neither
isComposing nor keyCode 229. Drop that Enter in PromptInputTextarea for
a short window, before the skill catalog or prompt history can treat it
as a plain key.

fix(mcp): invalidate cache only for effective MCP config changes (#5750)
* fix(mcp): avoid cache resets for unrelated config changes

extensions_config.json carries MCP servers, skills and middleware settings, but the MCP cache treated any whole-file signature change as MCP state change, so toggling a skill retired every cached tool and closed all pooled sessions.

Record a snapshot of the effective MCP slice (enabled servers' parsed config plus mcpInterceptors) and retire MCP state only when that slice changes. Hand the exact config revision to tool discovery so a change during discovery cannot publish tools built from a superseded revision, and add a non-initializing refresh entry point so disabling the last enabled server still converges the cache and pool on the next tool assembly.

* docs(mcp): align cache guide and restore error diagnostics

Review feedback on #5750 flagged three non-blocking issues: the MCP module guide still described the pre-semantic-snapshot invalidation contract; the tools.py sanitization covered every exception in the MCP block, discarding diagnostics for failures that cannot carry resolved credentials; and _is_cache_stale()'s docstring presented it as a pure predicate despite adopting a new file signature.

Narrow the type-only logging to ExtensionsConfig.from_file() and restore logger.exception() for tool caching, pool cleanup and plugin filtering, with a regression test asserting the message and traceback survive. Document the effective-MCP-slice comparison, the stable config handoff to discovery, refresh_mcp_cache_if_active() and the _initialized_without_config handling in the module guide, and note the signature-adoption side effect in the docstring.

* fix(mcp): unify config normalization and verify signatures

Review follow-up on #5750.

- Normalize mcpInterceptors (bare string == single-element list; missing key == empty list) and the type/transport alias through one shared module used by the tools cache, the interceptor builder and the durable-task config snapshot, so equivalent spellings no longer retire tools/sessions or raise McpTaskConfigurationError.
- Treat a resolved-path switch as a signal to re-read the effective MCP slice instead of an invalidation reason: an identical slice adopts the new path and signature and keeps pooled sessions.
- Refuse to publish or adopt a signature whose sha256 digest is missing ((mtime, size, None) from a file that could not be read).
- Sync the English and Chinese MCP user docs with the effective-config comparison, and document that the Gateway admin reset stays unconditional.

* docs(mcp): note the unverifiable-signature fail-closed branch

A present config file whose content cannot be hashed is treated as stale, unlike a deleted file which keeps the last-known-good cache. Record that asymmetry in the module guide.

* docs(mcp): scope the no-hash rationale to never-initialized processes

The cost-free early return in refresh_mcp_cache_if_active() only covers a process that never published an MCP cache. A process that did publish one (including an empty cache from the zero-server or LangGraph Studio lazy-init path) still pays one stat+sha256 per tool assembly. Correct the rationale in the docstring and the matching comment in get_available_tools().

docs(configuration): document runtime environment variables in English (#5774)
* docs(configuration): document runtime environment variables in English

* docs(configuration): correct env vars flagged in review

`LOG_LEVEL` is not read by DeerFlow: log verbosity comes from `log_level` in
`config.yaml`. `DEER_FLOW_ROOT` is not a process variable either — it is a
host-side value that only `docker/docker-compose-dev.yaml` interpolates, and it
has no fallback there, so `scripts/docker.sh` supplies one for the
`make docker-*` wrapper only.

Both rows are removed, and the table now lists only variables the process
actually reads: `DEER_FLOW_PROJECT_ROOT`, `DEER_FLOW_HOME`,
`DEER_FLOW_CONFIG_PATH`, `DEER_FLOW_SKILLS_PATH` and `AUTH_JWT_SECRET`. The
config-file home for log verbosity and the host-side home for `DEER_FLOW_ROOT`
are cross-referenced instead.

The zh page carried the same two incorrect rows; it is corrected the same way
so both locales agree.

* docs(configuration): scope the project-root rule to the variable that uses it

The blanket claim that relative path values resolve against
`DEER_FLOW_PROJECT_ROOT` is false for two rows in this table. At this head:

- `runtime_paths.runtime_home()` resolves a relative `DEER_FLOW_HOME` with
`Path(env_home).resolve()`, and `config/paths.py` resolves the state directory
the same way, so both land under the process working directory.
- `AppConfig.resolve_config_path()` builds `Path(os.getenv("DEER_FLOW_CONFIG_PATH"))`
directly, so a relative value is taken from the working directory as well.

`DEER_FLOW_SKILLS_PATH` is the only one that goes through `resolve_path()`, the
single project-root-aware helper (`base or project_root()`).

The prose now names that variable, states that the other two are used as given,
and asks operators to set them to absolute paths so writable state and the
loaded config file land where they expect. The `DEER_FLOW_HOME` row repeats the
absolute-path requirement, `DEER_FLOW_SKILLS_PATH` records the project-root
rule, and the `DEER_FLOW_PROJECT_ROOT` row no longer implies it governs relative
runtime paths in general. The zh page carries the same correction.

feat(memory): add cognitiveStyle for collaboration preferences (#3182)
* feat(memory): add cognitiveStyle for collaboration preferences

Extend cross-session memory with user.cognitiveStyle and cognitive facts,
backward-compatible normalization, prompt injection as Thinking Style, and
settings UI. Add design notes and unit tests.

Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>

* fix(memory): normalize legacy memory imports on frontend

Add normalizeMemoryPayload aligned with backend normalize_memory_data,
use it for Settings import and API reads, and add unit/regression tests.
Document schema-evolution steps and sync FACT_EXTRACTION_PROMPT cognitive category.

* fix(memory): harden legacy memory normalization

* fix(memory): keep import envelope validation strict

* fix(memory): keep unknown fields through frontend import normalization

normalizeMemoryPayload rebuilt the memory document from a section whitelist,
so every key it did not name was dropped. Because readMemoryResponse routes
all memory API responses through it, the loss showed up on read, export, and
import alike: revision vanished, and any future backend field would silently
break lossless export/import.

The Gateway models are extra="allow" and deermem normalizes additively, which
left the frontend as the only lossy hop in the chain. Spread before overriding
at each nesting level so normalization only validates and defaults
contract-owned fields, leaving the envelope check as strict as before.

Covered by a unit test on the strict import path, two backend tests for
extension preservation and caller immutability, and an E2E round-trip that
asserts on the captured import request body.

* docs(memory): state the normalization invariant that actually holds

The docstring cited `display` as a backend-driven field alongside
`revision`, but #4546 was closed unmerged and no such field exists in the
contract. It also promised lossless export/import, which the Gateway's
`extra="ignore"` models preclude for any undeclared field.

Replace both with the invariant the code is really defending: the frontend
must not be narrower than the Gateway contract, using the declared
top-level `revision` as the concrete example.

* fix(memory): preserve legacy migration and reject lossy imports

* fix(memory): align legacy fact normalization defaults

* test(memory): use authenticated app for import regression

fix(authz): cover create/run/memory/agent routes with permission checks; scope USER.md per user (#4989)
* fix(authz): cover create/run/memory/agent routes with permission checks; scope USER.md per user

Route permissions: the AuthorizationProvider model only applied to routes
carrying @require_permission, so POST /api/threads, /api/threads/search,
POST /api/runs/stream and /api/runs/wait (runs:create), every /api/memory
route and the custom-agent routes ran with authentication only — a
provider configured to deny threads:write/runs:create/... could not
enforce those decisions. Add the missing decorators (threads:write,
threads:read, runs:create, memory:read/write, agents:read/write) and
register the new permission names in authz.Permissions. No owner checks
are added: per-user data scoping stays in the repository layer.

User profile: GET/PUT /api/user-profile read and wrote a single global
{base_dir}/USER.md, so in a multi-user deployment any authenticated user
could overwrite the prompt context injected for everyone else (and read
it). Scope the file to the caller's bucket
({base_dir}/users/{user_id}/USER.md) like user-scoped skills; no other
consumer of the old global path exists in the tree (verified by grep and
the updated tests). test_put_user_profile asserted the wrong effective
user under the autouse conftest user fixture; fixed to test-user-autouse.

* fix(authz): bind positional args in require_permission; migrate legacy USER.md

Review follow-up on #4989 (willem-bd):

- require_permission's wrapper only looked for request in keyword
arguments, so direct positional calls like
create_thread(body, request) made the injected keyword stub collide
with the positional request (TypeError: multiple values). The wrapper
now binds the wrapped signature via inspect.signature().bind() and
honors a positionally-passed request (and thread_id) instead of
assuming kwargs; the test-stub injection only fires when request is
absent everywhere. The two positional callers in
tests/test_threads_router.py pass again (8/8 channel tests).
- migrate_user_isolation.py now claims the legacy global USER.md for
--user-id (default 'default') like the other unowned legacy
artifacts; without it, upgrading installs with an existing profile
would read content: null and later strand the old file beside the
new per-user one. Conflict handling mirrors migrate_memory (rename to
  USER.legacy.md).

* style(scripts): keep migrate_user_isolation help within the line budget

* test(authz): give internal-request stubs realistic auth fields

The create_thread permission wrapper added in this PR authenticates
the direct calls in the internal-owner tests; their SimpleNamespace
requests had state.user but no auth_source and no cookies, so
get_current_user_from_request fell through to request.cookies.get and
raised AttributeError (verified introduced by this branch: both tests
pass on the base commit).

The stubs now carry cookies={} and
state.auth_source=AUTH_SOURCE_INTERNAL, which is exactly what
AuthMiddleware stamps on real internal requests, so state.user is
honored without the JWT path. All 80 tests in the file pass.

* fix(pat): keep memory/agent permissions out of PAT scopes by design

The route permissions exist (they guard the memory/agent routers) but PATs
govern the thread/run lifecycle only: _PAT_ROUTE_RULES default-denies those
routers for PAT callers regardless of scopes. The alignment invariant
becomes a subset check plus a pinned exclusion, and pat.py documents that
opening these scopes is a product decision requiring three synchronized
changes.

* test/docs: cover migrate_user_profile; drop the unclaimed USER.md injection wording

Five-scenario test class mirroring the sibling migration steps (move,
conflict-rename, noop, both under dry-run). The GET/PUT descriptions no
longer say USER.md is 'injected into agents' — nothing at this head consumes
it for prompts; the routes are storage/retrieval only. The memory AGENTS.md
migration pointer now enumerates skills/ and the global USER.md.

* docs(paths): align the USER.md layout comment with the injection disclaimer

* test(authz): align effective permission contracts

The old page becomes the section index (asIndexPage), so existing links to
/docs/harness/subagents keep working; the two anchor links in
middlewares.mdx now point at limits#runaway-guards. Every chapter compiles
with @mdx-js/mdx and the docs link tests pass. Changelog entries added in
both languages.

* docs(subagents): fix the docs build and align the manual with the code

Remove the `index` key from both subagents `_meta.ts` files. The index page
is marked `asIndexPage`, so Nextra treats it as the folder itself; listing it
as a child failed `_meta` validation and returned 500 for every docs page.

Correct claims that disagreed with the backend, in both languages:
- GET /api/subagents is open to all users; only writes need an admin
- subagents use their own subagents.token_budget, not the Lead Agent's
- warn_threshold injects a model-visible warning, not just a log line
- [SUBAGENT LIMIT REACHED] and subagent_limit_capped fire only when the
per-run total was already exhausted before the response
- per-response concurrency defaults to subagent_runtime.max_running
- batch tools are not registered when a supplied runtime lacks a batch
  service
- ask_clarification / present_files are default denies that a config.yaml
  agent can lift
- smaller fixes to result text formats, event payloads, batch item states,
  MAX_SHELL_SESSIONS handling, and UI labels

The changelog entry now says only page-level links survive the split.
