fix(channels): stream-cap and validate WeChat/WeCom inbound media downloads, fixes #5223 (#5225)
* fix(channels): stream-cap and validate WeChat/WeCom inbound media downloads, fixes #5223 * fix(channels): address WeCom APPID, decompression, and log-sanitization review findings (#5223) Round-4 review follow-ups on the inbound-media download cap: - The COS bucket numeric suffix is the owner's Tencent Cloud APPID and bucket names are user-chosen, so any Tencent Cloud account could register a matching ww-aibot-img-* bucket and pass the shape gate. The built-in rule now admits only the APPID observed in Tencent's published aibot callback examples (1258476243), across regions; any other account (including a future WeCom rotation) goes through channels.wecom.allowed_media_hosts. - aiter_bytes() transparently decodes Content-Encoding, and the decoder allocates the full decompressed body before the byte cap sees a chunk (an ~8 KB gzip wire chunk decoding to 8 MiB reproduces it). Both URL readers now send Accept-Encoding: identity, refuse a response with a residual Content-Encoding before reading, and iterate aiter_raw(). - httpx.HTTPStatusError formats the signed URL (path + query credentials) into its message, so _ingest_inbound_files' reader-failure branch logs a sanitized summary (class + status) instead of logger.exception, and the WeChat extract paths catch httpx.HTTPError so the polling loop's per-message logger.exception can never render a media URL. Every change ships with a red/green regression: the reviewer's 403 mock-transport repro asserted against caplog.text (fully formatted logs), the reviewer's different-APPID bucket host, and gzip bombs driven through real httpx mock transports in both readers. Docs (channels AGENTS.md, README, config.example.yaml) updated for the APPID pinning and encoding gate. * docs(channels): document why the inbound-media cap is 50 MB, not WeCom's 100 MB ceiling * fix(logging): redact URLs in httpx request logs down to scheme + host, fixes #5223 httpx emits 'HTTP Request: GET <full URL>' at the Gateway's INFO level before any response handling runs, so even successful signed-media downloads leaked their credentials. HttpxUrlQueryRedactionFilter (installed by configure_logging) rewrites those records in place — path and query become /<redacted>, method/status/duration observability is preserved — which also keeps Telegram's token-bearing Bot API paths out of the logs. Reader-level regression tests run at production INFO level with a real MockTransport, success paths included. * fix(logging): blank userinfo credentials in httpx request-log redaction * fix(logging): redact authority-only URLs and cover urllib3 redirect logs Two follow-ups from the review plus one extrapolation of the same class: - rest is now optional in _URL_REDACT_RE, so an authority-only URL (scheme://user:pass@host, no path) is rewritten too — userinfo had nowhere else to hide and previously passed through verbatim. A bare credential-free origin still passes through unchanged. - Renamed to UrlRedactionFilter / install_url_log_redaction and attached to the urllib3 logger as well: urllib3 logs 'Redirecting <url> -> <url>' at INFO with full URLs on both sides, the same leak class on a different library logger. No gateway path today both uses requests and redirects a signed URL, but the class stays closed instead of dormant. - Unit tests now build records with the real httpx 0.28.1 format string ('HTTP Request: %s %s "%s %d %s"', 5 args) and httpx.URL args, per the nit, instead of a synthetic shape httpx never emits. * fix(logging): install URL redaction at handler level so propagated records are covered A logging.Filter on a logger only runs for records emitted through that exact logger — child loggers neither inherit it nor trigger it on propagation — so the previous attachment to the bare urllib3 logger was dead code: urllib3 emits Redirecting via urllib3.poolmanager at INFO and urllib3.connectionpool at DEBUG. The filter is now attached to every root handler (mirroring _install_trace_filter, which already iterates root handlers; handler-level filters see propagated records) in addition to the httpx logger (httpx emits via the bare name, and emission-point coverage survives handlers added later). The wiring is pinned by tests that emit through the real urllib3 child loggers — a mutation removing the handler-level install turns them red. Comments, docstrings, and AGENTS.md now state the actual emitter names and levels. * fix(logging): redact urllib3 DEBUG request lines, whose split shape evaded the URL regex urllib3's per-request line (connectionpool.py:545 on 2.7.0) renders as `scheme://host:port "METHOD /path?query HTTP/x.x" status len` — the authority ends at a space so _URL_REDACT_RE's bare-origin early return applies, and the quoted origin-form target has no scheme, so neither half was rewritten. UrlRedactionFilter now runs a dedicated request-line shape first (collapsing the target to /<redacted>, keeping scheme+host+method+ version), then the absolute-URL pass. Regressions pin the exact format string both at unit level and through the real urllib3.connectionpool DEBUG emit path; AGENTS.md wording now names both covered DEBUG shapes. * fix(logging): redact urllib3 retry lines and linearize scheme scanning Closes the two open review threads on the inbound-media log hardening: Retry/redirect targets: urllib3 logs the request target with no scheme in five shapes the generic absolute-URL pass cannot see - `Retry: <target>` (connectionpool.py:954 DEBUG), `Incremented Retry for (url='<target>')` (util/retry.py:545 DEBUG, absolute on the redirect path), `Retrying (...) after connection broken by '<err>': <target>` (connectionpool.py:869 WARNING, above the INFO root), and origin-form halves of both Redirecting emitters (poolmanager.py:500 INFO / connectionpool.py:922 DEBUG). Each gets a rewrite anchored to the exact urllib3 format, collapsing the target to /<redacted>; the generic pass's rest now stops at quote characters so a quoted URL keeps its closing punctuation (previously the absolute-form increment line was mangled), and the request-line method class accepts any case. The emitter enumeration in channels AGENTS.md is closed against the installed urllib3 2.7.0 source. Quadratic scanning: both scheme-bearing patterns start with a character class, so re.sub retried every suffix of a long token - 64K paths cost ~1.8s and URL-free 64K error bodies ~3.1s per record, synchronously in every root handler. The two passes are now driven from literal "://" occurrences: _scheme_starts walks back over the scheme charset to each run's first letter and the pattern is attempted only there, reproducing re.sub's leftmost-non-overlapping result in linear time (256K path: 5.6ms; worst adversarial shapes <= 28ms). Long-input regressions pin the URL-bearing and URL-free cases with mutation-verified bounds, plus nested-scheme and digit-headed-run equivalence cases. Validation: tests/test_logging_config.py 12/12; scheme-pass equivalence against the old re.sub pipeline verified by two independent 30k+ case fuzz runs; full-suite A/B against HEAD shows zero tests that pass on HEAD and fail with this diff. * fix(logging): boundary-aware quote stops and whole-message Redirecting anchor Two follow-ups on the urllib3 redaction shapes: Embedded quotes: `rest` treated ANY quote as a closing mark, so a URL with an apostrophe in the path kept everything after it verbatim (`https://h/path'quoted'?token=Q` rendered the credential suffix in full) while the class docstring claimed path/query/fragment are replaced. A quote now closes `rest` only at a boundary - followed by whitespace, a closing parenthesis, or end of string - so urllib3's Incremented Retry (url='...') scaffolding keeps its ') closer while an embedded quote stays consumed. The increment line's url capture gets the same rule narrowed to its fixed ')' closer. Redirecting anchoring: the origin-half pass matched `(? <=-> )/path` as a substring, and an `-> /path` arrow is not urllib3-owned shape - the sandbox provider's actionable mount error (`sandbox.mounts entry <host> -> /mnt/knowledge ignored: ...`) had its container path rewritten to /<redacted>, failing test_setup_path_mappings_logs_actionable_error_for_missing_host_path on CI (backend-unit-tests shard 3). The pass is now anchored to the whole `Redirecting <t> -> <t>` message, which is exactly urllib3's record; origin slots collapse, absolute slots stay for the generic pass. Regression tests pin the embedded-quote shapes and the sandbox error's byte-for-byte passthrough; both mutations verified red. Validation: tests/test_logging_config.py 14/14; the CI-failing sandbox test green locally; every test file asserting redaction/arrow log content passes (attachments, support bundle, run metadata, skill secrets, ragflow, skillscan, sandbox provider); full offline backend suite 14084 passed / 164 failed with the failure set matching this machine's documented Windows-environment baseline (NTFS chmod/symlink, docker/lark/langfuse absences) - no failure involves redaction output. * fix(logging): redact redirects with spaced locations * fix(logging): grammar-complete Redirecting anchor; neutral WeChat guard labels Round-13 P3 (Redirecting anchor strictness): the whole-message anchor kept the ^Redirecting prefix (the urllib3-owned literal that stops the sandbox false positive) but required BOTH slots whitespace-free, so a Location header with an interior space voided the pass and leaked the origin-form request target in the first slot - redirect_location is the raw header string and interior spaces are legal field syntax. The tail is now loose (\S.*$) and the first slot gets the same grammar treatment (\S.*?): the recursive urlopen frame passes the previous raw Location as its url, so t1 can carry interior spaces too, lazy-split at the first arrow the way the line is constructed. A space-carrying slot collapses whole when it starts with /; the sandbox mount error keeps passing through untouched. Round-14 nit (None conflation): _download_cdn_bytes returns None for two reasons (in-flight cap abort, Content-Encoding refusal) but both image and file callers labeled it "exceeds size limit (N bytes)" - contradicting the accurate encoding line right above it, and reporting the plaintext limit for a ciphertext-cap decision. Callers now log a neutral "skipped by download guard" line (the manager reader callers' shape); the accurate reason stays inside the download function. The same sweep also logs _stage_downloaded_file's silent None (no state dir configured), which made an attachment vanish with no log line at all. Also anchors the emitter-enumeration closure to its urllib3 version: the closure reopens if an upgrade changes these format strings, so the comment now says so explicitly. Validation: logging 15/15 and attachments 60/62 (the two pre-existing Windows symlink-privilege failures documented in the PR body); three mutations verified red (old wording, strict t1, silent staging None); ruff clean. Full offline suite run before push (per round-11 lesson). --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> |

chore(discord): best-effort flush thread mappings on stop() + restart regression tests (#5461)
* fix(discord): flush thread mappings on shutdown to survive restart (#2897) The Discord channel already persists channel->thread mappings, but a mapping created right before a hard shutdown (process killed between thread creation and its background persistence write) could still be lost. Flush in-memory mappings in stop() as a best-effort safety net. Add regression tests covering the persist/load round-trip across a simulated restart and the stop() flush path. Refs #2897 * fix(discord): gate stop() flush on _thread_store_loaded (#5461 review) Address review feedback: - Only flush thread mappings from stop() once _load_active_threads() has run, so a stop() taken before the load (start() bailed on a missing bot_token / discord import error) cannot overwrite the store with {}. - Fix isort order in the test module (ruff I001). - Make the restart test a plain sync test (it never awaits). - Add a regression test proving stop() does not clobber the store before load. * fix(discord): gate stop() flush on _thread_store_loaded (#5461 review) Address review feedback: - Only flush thread mappings from stop() once _load_active_threads() has run, so a stop() taken before the load (start() bailed on a missing bot_token / discord import error) cannot overwrite the store with {}. - Fix isort order in the test module (ruff I001). - Make the restart test a plain sync test (it never awaits). - Add a regression test proving stop() does not clobber the store before load. --------- Co-authored-by: wcy12378 <wcy12378@users.noreply.github.com> |

fix(channels): cap WeCom outbound content at the 20480-byte protocol limit (#5148)
* fix(channels): cap WeCom outbound content at the 20480-byte protocol limit Both _send_ws paths sent unbounded text. Stream replies now clip on a character boundary with a truncation marker (one stream carries the whole reply and cannot split mid-way), and proactive pushes split into sequential markdown messages at newline boundaries. Measured in UTF-8 bytes, matching the documented protocol cap. Signed-off-by: Yufeng He <40085740+he-yufeng@users.noreply.github.com> * test(channels): pin emoji boundary behavior in the WeCom content limit Review on #5148 raised 4-byte emoji cut points. Probes show the split path already carries a byte-split character into the next chunk and terminates on all-emoji input; these tests pin that behavior so a later refactor cannot regress it. Signed-off-by: Yufeng He <40085740+he-yufeng@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(channels): preserve the delimiter when splitting WeCom pushes The boundary newline was stripped by lstrip, so the sequential markdown messages lost one delimiter per split and could not rebuild the original response. Keep it on the chunk's tail and assert the exact round trip in the tests, including leading blank lines. Signed-off-by: Yufeng He <40085740+he-yufeng@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(channels): serialize WeCom proactive chunk batches per chat Each chunk send awaits, so two manager workers pushing long texts to the same chat could interleave markdown messages (A1, B1, A2, B2) and break the sequential-message contract. Hold a per-chat lock across the whole split batch; different chats still send concurrently. Signed-off-by: Yufeng He <40085740+he-yufeng@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(channels): keep WeCom split advancing and cap the chunk batch Two edge cases in _split_for_byte_limit left after the delimiter fix: - A limit narrower than one whole character made the decode window empty, so the hard cut became 0 and the loop appended empty chunks forever. Take the character anyway when the window decodes empty, so the loop always advances. - A single oversized push produced one message per 20480 bytes with no ceiling, flooding the chat and holding the per-chat lock for the whole drain. Cap one push at 10 messages: keep the first nine verbatim and collapse the rest into one clipped tail carrying the truncation marker, with a warning log when the cap trips. Signed-off-by: Yufeng He <40085740+he-yufeng@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(channels): reclaim completed WeCom send locks, cap the split before it does the work Two leftovers from the last review round: - _ws_send_locks kept one lock per chat forever. A guard-locked refcount now reclaims an entry only when no sender is queued on it, so a waiter can never land on a fresh lock mid-batch for the same chat. Pinned by three reclamation tests (single push, capped batch, 20 concurrent chats). - _split_for_byte_limit built every chunk and then joined the discarded tail to clip it — quadratic work on pathological pushes. The batch cap now applies inside the loop: once the kept chunks are full, the remainder is clipped whole. A spy test pins that the clipper receives the unsplit remainder. tests/test_wecom_content_limit.py 25 passed, plus tests/test_wecom_ws_text.py. Signed-off-by: Yufeng He <40085740+he-yufeng@users.noreply.github.com> * docs(channels): describe the WeCom push cap, pin the staggered-lock race The channels guide still described proactive pushes as an uncapped split. Also add the staggered-start regression the reviewer asked for: a waiter queuing while the holder's cleanup runs must share one lock, keep batches contiguous, and leave both lock registries empty. fix(gateway): confine artifact PUT to /mnt/user-data/outputs after path resolution (#5321)
* fix(gateway): confine artifact PUT to /mnt/user-data/outputs after path resolution
The outputs-only guard on PUT /api/threads/{id}/artifacts/{path} was a
string-prefix check on the raw path. A percent-encoded `..`
(`outputs/%2e%2e/uploads/x.txt`) survives nginx's variable proxy_pass
untouched, is decoded by Starlette, passes the prefix check, and the
resolver only confines the result to `user-data/` -- so an owner could
overwrite a sibling upload or workspace file in their own thread.
Collapse dot segments before the prefix check, and re-check the resolved
host path against the resolved outputs root so a symlink planted inside
`outputs/` cannot redirect the write either. The normalized virtual path
is what the response echoes and what non-mounted sandboxes receive.
* refactor(gateway): share the outputs-confinement rule with channel attachments
Review follow-up on #5321: the "only under /mnt/user-data/outputs" rule was
implemented independently by the artifact editor and by IM-channel
attachment delivery, and the two copies had already drifted.
Move it into app/gateway/path_utils.py as normalize_outputs_virtual_path
(collapse `..` before the prefix check) and resolve_outputs_confined_path
(re-check the resolved host path against the resolved outputs root, which
also catches a symlink planted inside outputs/). PUT /artifacts and
ChannelManager._resolve_attachments both call the helper; artifact_archive
keeps its stricter ZIP-member rules layered on top.
Tests that previously stubbed resolve_thread_virtual_path for the editor now
stub resolve_outputs_confined_path, and the channel attachment tests patch
path_utils.get_paths, which the helper binds at import like the other
consumers. The confinement itself is pinned by tests/test_gateway_path_utils.py.

fix(channels): bound Discord outbound cross-loop awaits and restart dead clients, fixes #5226 (#5227)
* fix(channels): bound Discord outbound cross-loop awaits and restart dead clients, fixes #5226 * docs: reduce inherited agent guidance size * fix(channels): stop half-started channels before discarding them _start_channel now tears the instance down (stop + untrack) whenever start() raises or the channel never reaches is_running, so an outbound listener subscribed before the transport was confirmed cannot outlive its channel. Addresses the review on #5227. * fix(channels): retain half-started channels until failed-start cleanup completes Ownership in _stop_and_discard_channel now mirrors ChannelService.stop(): the instance is dropped only after its stop() completes. A cancellation arriving mid-cleanup (or a stop() that raises) leaves it tracked, so a retried readiness attempt stops it again before replacing it and service shutdown can still reach it — untracking first orphaned resources nobody could clean up. Addresses the round-3 review on #5227. * fix(channels): defer replacement when a retained channel fails to stop The pre-retry stop in ensure_channel_ready popped unconditionally, so a retained instance whose second stop() raised was untracked with its outbound listener still subscribed — the same orphan one hop later. restart_channel (del after failed stop) and remove_channel (pop before stop) had the same shape. All three now route through _stop_and_discard_channel and decline the operation for that round when the instance is retained, so _start_channel can never overwrite a still-listening channel. Addresses the review on #5227. * fix(channels): enforce the retention guarantee inside the readiness attempt loop A failed attempt whose cleanup retained the instance used to let the next attempt (attempts=2 is the production default) construct a fresh instance and overwrite the retained one via _start_channel's unconditional assignment — orphaning the first instance's subscribed listener one hop earlier than the cross-round guard covers. The guard now lives at the mechanism: _start_channel refuses to install while the name is still tracked, and ensure_channel_ready ends the loop on retention. The shared discard helper's log message is path-neutral. Addresses the review on #5227. * fix(channels): make the retained-instance guard message path-neutral The guard can fire for any still-tracked instance, not only failed cleanup, so the message must not assume the cause. --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> |

feature(gateway): issue request trace ids unconditionally (#5119)
* refactor(gateway): issue request trace ids unconditionally The request trace id was gated behind logging.enhance.enabled at every entry point, so downstream code had to keep asking whether one existed: a header-provenance flag in its own ContextVar, a precedence resolver, and three-level carrier fallbacks at each consumer. Bind one unconditionally instead. TraceMiddleware covers Gateway HTTP; ensure_trace_context covers the entry points that never touch ASGI -- scheduled occurrences, MCP task notification runs, IM channel messages, and the embedded client -- each scoped to one unit of work so a long-lived worker task cannot leak one occurrence's id into the next. The ContextVar becomes the only source; the response header, runtime context, run metadata and log records are derived outputs. Consumers now use ensure_trace_id() or resolve_trace_id(*carriers) and drop their presence guards. Removed: resolve_deerflow_trace_id, the header-provenance flag and its three helpers, set/reset_current_trace_id, is_trace_correlation_enabled and its gateway alias. BREAKING CHANGE: every Gateway HTTP response now carries X-Trace-Id and it cannot be turned off; logging.enhance.enabled controls log output only. Installations on the default enabled: false will start seeing the header. No config keys were added or removed. * fix(gateway): stop persisting a caller-supplied trace id on the run record body.metadata forks two ways: through build_run_config into the live run config, which the run worker restamps, and through create_or_reject into the run record that the runs API echoes verbatim. Only the first was covered, so a client sending metadata.deerflow_trace_id made the most durable and most visible surface of a run disagree with the X-Trace-Id and the log lines the same request produced -- a correlation id that does not match the logs is worse than none. Stamp the server-issued id once at the trust boundary so both forks receive it, preserving the caller's own metadata keys. Close the same gap on config.context, which reaches the runtime context by a separate path: _build_runtime_context no longer merges server-owned keys from the caller, and _install_runtime_context assigns rather than setdefaults. A thread's metadata is no longer seeded with the run-scoped id of whichever run created it -- one thread spans many runs and as many trace ids. Found by driving a real run through the Gateway and reading the run back from the runs API; every unit test built its metadata by hand and so could not see it. * fix(gateway): expose X-Trace-Id to split-origin browser clients X-Trace-Id is not on the CORS safelist, so a browser client served from a separate origin could not read it -- and those are exactly the clients that cannot read the Gateway's logs either, leaving them with nothing to quote in a bug report. Same-origin nginx deployments were unaffected, which is why this stayed hidden. Add it to CORS_EXPOSED_HEADERS beside Content-Location, referencing TRACE_ID_HEADER rather than repeating the literal. * fix(gateway): keep X-Trace-Id on unhandled-exception 500s Starlette's ServerErrorMiddleware sits outside every user middleware and emits unhandled-exception 500s through the raw send, so those responses never pass TraceMiddleware's header-writing wrapper. The 500 for a server bug is exactly the response a user most needs to correlate with a log line, and it was the one response that shipped without the id. TraceMiddleware now tracks whether http.response.start has been sent. On an exception with no response started it emits its own plain 500 carrying the header, then re-raises: the outer ServerErrorMiddleware sees the response already started and only re-raises too, so the server's exception logging is untouched. An exception mid-stream keeps propagating unchanged — a second response start cannot be sent, and the already-written header stands. The trace id is printable ASCII by construction (normalize_trace_id / generate_trace_id), which is what makes the raw latin-1 header encoding safe. * fix(gateway): strip the forged trace id from the persisted request echo The run-record fix stopped a forged metadata.deerflow_trace_id on the authoritative metadata surface, but the raw request echo still carried one: create_or_reject persists body.config verbatim as runs.kwargs_json, which the runs API serves back. A client posting config.context.deerflow_trace_id therefore still got its forged value stored and echoed on one API surface while the header, logs, run metadata, and checkpoint all carried the real id — the id is ignored as input there, so echoing it back only manufactures disagreement. Two changes close it. redact_config_secrets — already the shared scrub for that echo, applied at admission and again at serve time, so historical records are covered too — now also drops deerflow_trace_id from config.metadata and config.context. And build_run_config now merges run metadata onto a copy of the caller's config["metadata"] instead of updating it in place: the nested values of the request config are reference copies, so the in-place merge was writing the server-stamped key through into body.config, contaminating the "what the client sent" record before it was persisted (and incidentally masking the forged-value echo on the metadata container). The regression test posts a forged id through body.metadata, config.metadata, and config.context at once and reads the kwargs echo back off the run record, failing if either leak returns. * docs(harness): record the trace-echo scrub, 500 fallback, and accepted retry divergence The trace section of the harness AGENTS.md now covers the two fixes that close the derived-output rule (the kwargs-echo scrub in redact_config_secrets plus build_run_config's copy merge, and TraceMiddleware's own 500 for unhandled exceptions), and CHANGELOG gains their Fixed entries. It also writes down the one accepted divergence: a crash-recovered scheduled launch reuses the durable run through its idempotency key, and start_run returns early on idempotency_reused without restamping — so the run record keeps the first attempt's deerflow_trace_id while the retry's own log lines carry the freshly minted id of its ensure_trace_context binding. The divergence is confined to the crash-recovery window and is accepted rather than fixed: restamping on reuse would rewrite a persisted record for a run that already exists, which is worse than two ids that each correlate their own attempt's logs. Written down so the next reader of the scheduler recovery path does not diagnose it as a bug. * docs(config): align the logging.enhance schema note with the unconditional trace id The config-module AGENTS.md still described logging.enhance as the gate for the Gateway X-Trace-Id header and Langfuse deerflow_trace_id. That model is gone: ids are issued unconditionally and this block decides log output only. Left as-is, the stale wording invites an agent to "restore" a header gate it believes was lost. Reworded to match the sibling AGENTS.md files and config.example.yaml, with a pointer to the Request Trace Context section that owns the full model. * docs(changelog): link the trace entries to #5119 The five new entries pointed at the ([#XXXX]) placeholder with no reference definition, rendering as literal text instead of a link — and RELEASING.md step 2 relies on those references when the section becomes release notes. All five now point at #5119, with the definition appended to the reference block. * refactor(harness): rename _stream_without_trace_context to _stream_turn The name asserted the opposite of what the method now does. It was accurate while logging.enhance.enabled could route stream() around the trace scope; with the gate gone it is the only stream implementation left, and it binds the id itself via ensure_trace_id(). Private, so the rename touches only the definition and the one stream() call site. * docs(harness): fit the trace-context guidance inside the AGENTS.md chain budget The expanded Request Trace Context section pushed the effective AGENTS.md chain for agents/middlewares to 99,815 bytes, past the 98,304 hard limit scripts/check_agent_guidance.py enforces in CI (AG002). Compressed the section from 7,359 to 4592 bytes with no facts removed: the entry-point table, the derived-output rule and its enforcement points, the accepted scheduled-retry divergence, the two resolution helpers, the stream() binding rationale, the log-output-only gate, the CORS listing, the 500 fallback, and the test map all remain. Sized against the merge, not just the branch: current main grew the same chain by ~724 bytes, so the check was verified on the merged tree as well (97,772 bytes; branch tree 97,048). * fix(gateway): declare content-length on the fallback 500 The pre-response 500 declared content-type but no content-length, leaving the framing to the ASGI server: chunked on HTTP/1.1, close-delimited on HTTP/1.0 — the one wire difference from the ServerErrorMiddleware response it replaces, which sends content-length: 21. The explicit header keeps the fallback byte-identical to what clients saw before. * docs(readme): drop the trace-correlation condition from the translations The zh/ja/fr/ru Langfuse sections still said metadata.deerflow_trace_id matches X-Trace-Id "when request trace correlation is enabled". The id now always matches and that condition no longer exists, so each bullet states the unconditional match and that logging.enhance.enabled only controls whether the id is printed into logs — the one piece of the feature a user can still configure. * test(gateway): pin TraceMiddleware wiring through create_app() Every X-Trace-Id test exercised a hand-built four-route app, so the real stack's add_middleware(TraceMiddleware) line was pinned by nothing: deleting it — or short-circuiting above it — passed CI while silently dropping both the response header and the ambient id the run-record stamp and enhanced log records derive from. One case now drives /health through create_app() and asserts the inbound id round-trips; mutation-checked by removing the wiring line, which fails exactly this test. * docs(gateway): note the fallback 500 is CORS-opaque The pre-response 500 is emitted outside CORSMiddleware — the exception has already unwound past it — so it carries no Access-Control-Allow-Origin and a split-origin browser client cannot read the id on this one response, unchanged from the ServerErrorMiddleware 500 it replaces. Documented on the class and in the CHANGELOG entry rather than fixed: replicating the origin allowlist outside CORSMiddleware would let the two policies drift. * fix(harness): keep abandoned-stream cleanup inside the trace binding stream() binds the turn's id around each next(inner) and resets it before yielding, but the finally's inner.close() ran after that binding was gone. Abandoning the stream therefore drove the inner LangGraph generator's GeneratorExit/finally path with no trace id — or an unrelated ambient one from whichever context ran the close — so cancellation and finalization logs and callbacks did not correlate with the turn they belong to. inner.close() is now wrapped in a local bind/reset of the same turn id. The token is set and reset in the same frame, never across a yield, so the per-step cross-context safety is preserved even when GC closes the generator from another Context — pinned by the existing copy_context close test, which now exercises this path. The regression test records the id from the inner generator's finally and fails without the binding. * test(harness): teach the worker-trace fake about RunManager.cleanup Upstream #5112 (bound gateway memory after terminal runs) added a run_manager.cleanup(run_id) call to run_agent's finalization, so the merge-commit CI run failed all five worker-trace-binding tests with AttributeError on this PR's _FakeRunManager. The fake gains the same no-op shape as its other methods. * docs(gateway): bring the gateway AGENTS.md back under its soft budget Upstream #5092 grew backend/app/gateway/AGENTS.md to 40,966 bytes, 6 over the 40,960 soft budget that test_agent_guidance_check.py::test_repository_guidance_stays_below_soft_budgets_and_avoids_doc_indexes enforces — its Unit Tests run on main was cancelled by push concurrency, so main is currently red on that test and every PR merge-run inherits the failure. Two whitespace/wording trims in the row #5092 touched (a doubled space, and "its configured `context_window`" → "its `context_window`") bring the file to 40,953 with no content change. --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> |

fix(channels): retain strong reference to Discord ack-reaction tasks (#5049)
* fix(channels): retain strong reference to Discord ack-reaction tasks The event loop keeps only weak references to scheduled tasks, so the bare asyncio.create_task(self._add_reaction(message)) at both message-acceptance sites could be garbage-collected mid-flight and silently drop the ✅ acknowledgment. The module-level retention set holds each task until completion and logs failures, mirroring the deferred subagent cleanup fix in #4928 and the stream bridge cleanup fix in #4931. * fix(channels): drain in-flight ack reactions on Discord channel shutdown Adversarial follow-up to the retention fix: stop() cancelled typing tasks but left in-flight ack-reaction tasks in the module retention set when the channel stopped mid-HTTP-call, pinning the channel instance and the discord Message object graph across restart cycles. _cancel_ephemeral_tasks / _discard_ephemeral_tasks now cover both families at every stop() cleanup point and the _run_client finally. Also tests the done-callback error-log branch and documents the GC test as a contract pin. * test(channels): pin Discord ack-reaction drain wiring and sharpen wording Second adversarial pass found the drain test cancelled a never-started task (no yield between schedule and cancel), nothing exercised the real stop() cross-loop wiring, and the cleanup log messages still said "typing-task" while now covering both families. The drain test now yields so the task genuinely suspends first, a new test drives stop() through a real background loop and fails if the wiring reverts to typing-only cleanup, wording covers ephemeral tasks, and the discard path snapshots the set before iterating. * refactor(channels): scope Discord ack-reaction retention to the channel instance The retention set was module-level, so one DiscordChannel's stop() would cancel every other instance's in-flight ack reactions. Instance-level matches the typing-task bookkeeping and keeps shutdown scoped; pinned by a two-channel isolation test. * test(channels): drive two-channel ack isolation through full stop() Independent review of the instance-scoping refactor confirmed the P2 fix but suggested matching the review's letter exactly: the isolation test now shuts the first channel down via stop() instead of the drain helper, and one stale docstring reference to the former module-level set is corrected. |

fix(channels): move Telegram _attach_connection_identity to main event loop (#4815)
Move SQL-dependent connection identity and /start bind work onto the Gateway main loop via _submit_threadsafe_coroutine, and send PTB replies through _run_on_telegram_loop so the Telegram worker never blocks or touches SQLAlchemy/HTTP across event loops. When the main loop is not running (e.g. during gateway shutdown), the bind path logs a warning and returns False instead of running SQLAlchemy on the wrong loop, matching the Feishu bind pattern. |

fix(buzz): drop replayed events across reconnects with a persistent seen-id store (#4888)
* fix(buzz): drop replayed events across reconnects with a persistent seen-id store
The Buzz connector's resubscribe filter replays by design: 'since' is the
created_at of the last processed event and NIP-01 'since' is inclusive, so
every relay reconnect redelivers at least that event. The guard against
re-running the agent on it was the manager's inbound dedupe, whose default
store is in-process with a 10-minute TTL — so any reconnect more than ten
minutes after a channel's last message (or any gateway restart) re-answered
that message. Users saw the agent respond to an old question after every
relay restart.
Fix: persist the ids of fully processed events per channel
(BuzzSeenEventStore, JSON under {base_dir}/channels/, atomic writes) and
drop redelivered ids in _handle_chat_event before the /connect branch —
a replayed /connect would otherwise be re-answered with a spurious
'code invalid or expired'. Matching is by exact event id only, never
timestamp, so a genuinely new event (same-second or clock-skewed author)
can never be skipped, preserving the connector's fail-toward-replay
invariant. Only fully processed events are recorded, mirroring the
watermark rule: a gated drop or failed publish stays replayable.
Fail-open in both directions: an unreadable store loads empty (costs one
replayed reply, the previous behavior) and a failed write is logged and
retried on the next record. Id lists and the channel map are bounded like
the connector's other remote-fed maps. The persistent path is wired in
ChannelService (like channel_store); directly constructed channels get a
memory-only store so tests and tooling stay free of filesystem side
effects.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(buzz): coalesce seen-store writes, clean up temp files, harden docs and coverage
Address review on the seen-event store:
- record() now marks the store dirty and coalesces persistence to one
write per FLUSH_DELAY_SECONDS on the event loop, so a reconnect
backlog burst pays one O(store) file write instead of one per event;
sync callers (no running loop) keep immediate writes, and
BuzzChannel.stop() flushes so a clean shutdown loses nothing. A crash
inside the window only costs replay, never a skip.
- _save() unlinks its temp file on failure (ChannelStore parity), so a
persistently unwritable path no longer accumulates *.tmp litter.
- Module docstring now documents that restart protection is bounded to
the newest MAX_IDS_PER_CHANNEL ids per channel (and to raise it if a
relay ever serves a deeper default backlog), and pins the
single-event-loop assumption that makes the class safe without a lock.
- New tests: MAX_CHANNELS LRU eviction, coalescing behavior, flush
idempotence, temp-file cleanup, stop() flushing, and the
ChannelService wiring that injects seen_event_store_path (the line
that makes real deployments durable).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(buzz): reschedule the coalesced flush when the pending timer's loop is gone
A pending flush handle pinned to a since-closed event loop kept
_flush_handle non-None forever, so later record() calls on a new loop
never scheduled a timer and the store silently stopped persisting until
an explicit flush(). Track the scheduling loop (TimerHandle has no
public get_loop()) and reschedule when it differs from the running one.
Unreachable in production (one loop per process, stop() flushes), but
now hardened and tested.

feat(channels): add Buzz (Nostr) channel connector (#4649)
* feat(channels): add Buzz (Nostr) channel connector Adds a Buzz (https://github.com/block/buzz) channel so DeerFlow can join a Nostr-relay workspace as a member: it answers @mentions in channels, replies to DMs, and streams answers by editing one message in place. * app/channels/buzz_nostr.py — pure NIP-01 helpers: canonical event ids, BIP-340 signing/verification, chat/edit/auth builders, relay frames. * app/channels/buzz.py — BuzzChannel: one NIP-42-authenticated websocket, channel discovery (kind 39000) with one subscription per channel, live membership tracking (44100/44101), per-channel replay watermarks, and replies posted once then edited in place (kind 40003). * app/channels/buzz_run_policy.py — same-thread serialization, mirroring the Feishu precedent. Inbound is gated in order: signature verification, self-drop, /connect bind-and-return, pubkey allowlist, then mention / DM / mention-free / thread-follow. Off by default; needs the new optional `buzz` extra (coincurve, lazily imported), which detect_uv_extras resolves from channels.buzz.enabled the same way it already handles channels.discord. Two relay behaviours drove the design and are worth knowing when reviewing: a global {"kinds":[9]} subscription receives nothing from buzz-relay and a multi-value "#h" filter receives nothing either, so one REQ per channel is required; and a single global `since` cursor skips quiet channels, so watermarks are per channel. Signed-off-by: Ajay R <ajayr@formbuddy.com> * fix(channels): only publish assistant messages from the IM stream `_accumulate_stream_text` decided what streamed `messages-tuple` payloads become displayable text by rejecting ONLY payloads whose `type` contained "tool", so it published everything else. DeerFlow writes hidden model context into the messages channel as ordinary messages -- memory recall and the rewritten user turn as hidden HumanMessages (DynamicContextMiddleware), the `<durable_context_data>` block as another (DurableContextMiddleware) -- and LangGraph fans those state writes out on the messages stream, so they reached every streaming IM channel as the assistant's reply. Proved live on a Buzz relay: the connector published a `<memory>` fact block and, in another run, a verbatim echo of the user's own inbound message. Affects Feishu, Telegram, WeCom and Buzz; worst on Buzz, where each update is an immutable public Nostr event that a corrective edit cannot unpublish. Invert the filter to an allowlist of assistant message types. Two new pure helpers keep it testable: - `_stream_payload_type` resolves the type from both shapes the function already handles: the `model_dump()` shape the gateway emits, and LangChain's `to_json()` constructor shape whose own `type` is the literal "constructor" and whose class name is the tail of the `id` path. - `_is_assistant_stream_type` matches "ai"/"assistant" by PREFIX, not substring -- ordinary words contain "ai" ("chain", "domain"), and a substring test would admit a foreign type name by accident. The bare-`str` branch is removed: an untyped payload cannot be attributed to the assistant, nothing in DeerFlow produces one (serialize_messages_tuple always emits `[message_dict, metadata]`), and a runtime that emitted raw text deltas would emit hidden context the same way. Per-message-id buffering and merging are unchanged. Tests pin both directions, including multi-chunk merging across one message id, so the allowlist cannot silently kill streaming, plus an end-to-end `_handle_streaming_chat` test asserting the live payload never reaches an outbound message. feat(dingtalk): support inbound file and image attachments (#4423)
* feat(dingtalk): support inbound file and image attachments DingTalk previously dropped picture and file (document) messages because `_on_chatbot_message` ignored any message with empty text, so users could not send files to the agent. This adds inbound attachment support, mirroring `FeishuChannel`: - `_extract_files` parses `picture`/`richText` image downloadCodes and `file` (document) descriptors. `dingtalk_stream.ChatbotMessage.from_dict` does not parse `file` messages, so `_DingTalkMessageHandler.process` stashes the raw callback payload on the message (`_df_raw_data`) for the document descriptor. - `receive_file` downloads each attachment by `downloadCode` via the robot `messageFiles/download` OpenAPI, persists it into the thread uploads bucket, syncs it into a non-local sandbox, and prepends the sandbox virtual path to the message text so the agent can read the file by path. - Filenames go through the shared `uploads.normalize_filename` helper, which strips directory components and rejects traversal patterns. Outbound `send_file` already existed; this completes DingTalk file parity with Feishu on the inbound side. Adds 21 tests covering extraction, download-by-code, persistence/sandbox sync, filename sanitization, and the handler raw-data stash. * fix(dingtalk): address inbound-file review feedback Follow-up to the review on #4423: - Make the fallback filename safe by construction. `download_code` is attacker-controllable webhook data and was embedded into `fallback_name` unsanitized; it only avoided escaping the uploads directory because the resulting write failed with OSError. It is now restricted to `[A-Za-z0-9_-]` before use. Covered by a test that reproduces the old behaviour (`uploads/dingtalk_../../evil.png`) and by a test that actually exercises the previously untested `except ValueError` branch (`".."`, whose basename — unlike `../../etc/passwd` — does raise). - Log the swallowed `get_image_list()` failure instead of silently returning no images, so an SDK parse failure is distinguishable from a richText message that genuinely has no inline images. - Surface failed downloads to the agent as a short `[failed to load ...]` marker rather than silently omitting the attachment, so a user whose file did not load does not simply appear to be ignored. Keeps the cleaner text shape while restoring the signal Feishu provides. Tests: 119 passed (was 115). * fix(dingtalk): claim unique upload names and refuse symlinked destinations Round 2 review follow-up on #4423. Both findings reproduce as failing tests against the previous head. - Inbound attachments no longer overwrite each other. Generated names repeat across messages (every picture message yields "image.png", richText yields "image_0.png"), so a later attachment silently replaced an earlier one whose virtual path had already been prepended to the message text — the agent could read bytes that were not the ones its prompt referenced. The destination name is now claimed with the shared `claim_unique_filename` against the live directory contents, which also covers a real filename sent twice (`quote.xlsx`), a case Feishu's inline naming does not handle either. The claim and the write happen under one lock so two attachments cannot resolve to the same free name. - Writes go through the shared `write_upload_file_no_symlink` instead of `Path.write_bytes`. Uploads dirs may be mounted into local sandboxes, so a sandbox process could leave a symlink at a future upload name and redirect a gateway-privileged write outside the bucket; the regression test shows the old code creating the out-of-bucket target. Tests: 123 passed (was 119). * fix(dingtalk): harden the inbound download path (self-audit) Proactive hardening pass over the new inbound path; each fix reproduces as a failing test against the previous head. - Contain token failures. `_get_access_token()` sat outside the try in `_download_by_code`, and the manager awaits `receive_file` without one — a DingTalk auth hiccup during a file message aborted the whole chat turn with no reply. Token acquisition moves inside the try, and `receive_file` gains per-attachment isolation so no unforeseen error can escape past the marker. - Cap inbound size. The download buffered arbitrary bytes in memory (`response.content`) with no limit, while outbound uploads already enforce one. The body is now streamed and dropped once it exceeds `_MAX_INBOUND_FILE_SIZE_BYTES` (50 MB), surfacing as a failed-load marker. - Sanitize the failure marker. It embedded the raw webhook `fileName`; a newline could forge a standalone `/mnt/user-data/uploads/...` line inside msg.text and an over-long name bloated it. Markers now collapse whitespace and cap at 80 chars. - Keep blocking IO off the event loop. `ensure_thread_dirs`, the uploads-dir resolve, sync `SandboxProvider.acquire`, and `sandbox.update_file` all ran on the loop; directory prep now lives inside the same `asyncio.to_thread` as the claim+write, and sandbox sync uses `acquire_async` + an offloaded `update_file`. Locked by a strict Blockbuster anchor (tests/blocking_io/test_dingtalk_receive_file.py), verified to fail with `BlockingError: Blocking call to os.mkdir` when the offload is reverted. Tests: 127 + 1 blocking-io anchor (was 123); tests/blocking_io/ suite 55 passed. * fix(dingtalk): surface missing-sandbox sync as a failed load Round 3 follow-up on #4423: - When a non-local sandbox acquire succeeds but the provider cannot resolve the instance, _receive_single_file returned the virtual path anyway — a path the agent's sandbox cannot read. Mirror Feishu: log and return "", so the [failed to load ...] marker fires instead. Red-first test: test_missing_sandbox_after_acquire_yields_marker. - Drop the dead GetResponse / FakeClient.get scaffolding left in test_oversized_download_is_dropped from its red-first iteration. Tests: 128 + 1 blocking-io anchor (was 127 + 1). * fix(dingtalk): treat non-local sandbox sync failure as a failed load Round 4 follow-up on #4423. The sync except-branch logged and still returned the virtual path when acquire or update_file raised on a non-local sandbox — the same handing-the-agent-an-unreadable-path failure mode the sandbox-is-None branch was just fixed for, and exactly the leg the suite did not exercise. Feishu's except-branch returns its failure marker; DingTalk now does the equivalent (return "" so the failed-load marker fires). Red-first test: test_update_file_failure_yields_marker. Tests: 129 + 1 blocking-io anchor (was 128 + 1). --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> |

fix(feishu): check response.success() on card/reaction SDK calls (#4234)
* fix(feishu): check response.success() on card/reaction SDK calls _reply_card, _create_card, _update_card, and _add_reaction call the lark-oapi SDK and only used the response on the happy path, never checking response.success(). lark-oapi signals a business-level failure (invalid/expired card, permission error, etc.) by returning a response with success()=False rather than raising, so these calls looked identical to callers whether Feishu accepted them or not. This file's own _upload_image/_upload_file/_receive_single_file already guard against exactly this by checking response.success() before trusting the response; the card/reaction helpers just didn't follow that established pattern. The gap is most exposed on _update_card: Feishu supports streaming, so a single conversation issues many _update_card patches, each one a chance to silently drop an update. _send_card_message already has a try/except around _update_card that retries (via _send_with_retry) on non-final failures and falls back to a brand-new card on final ones - but that logic was unreachable because _update_card could never raise on a business failure. Adds response.success() checks to all four methods, raising for _reply_card/_create_card/_update_card (mirroring the upload helpers, and making the existing retry/fallback logic in _send_card_message reachable) and logging a warning for _add_reaction (mirroring _receive_single_file, since a failed reaction is fire-and-forget and must not trigger a redundant resend of the whole card). Adds regression coverage in TestFeishuCardSuccessChecks: a business-failure mock response for each of the four methods, plus two tests driving _send_card_message end to end to confirm the retry and fallback-to-new-card paths actually engage now. * fix(feishu): include log_id in card SDK failure errors + cover create_card retry path willem-bd's review on this PR suggested two non-blocking follow-ups: - _reply_card/_create_card/_update_card's RuntimeError on a business-level failure omitted the Feishu log_id, unlike _add_reaction and _receive_single_file in this same file, which already include it in their warning logs. Adding it gives a Feishu support-traceable id once retries exhaust and the error reaches the caller. - _create_card's failure on the no-thread_ts path (the tail of _send_card_message) only had direct unit coverage (test_create_card_raises_on_business_failure_response), unlike _update_card's failure path, which also has an end-to-end test through send() confirming _send_with_retry engages (test_send_retries_after_update_card_business_failure_then_succeeds). Adds the mirrored end-to-end test for the _create_card path. |

feat(uploads): lazy-load historical files via list_uploaded_files tool (#4174)
* feat(uploads): lazy-load historical files via list_uploaded_files tool
Replace per-turn injection of all historical upload metadata with on-demand
discovery via a new `list_uploaded_files` built-in tool, following the same
deferred-discovery pattern used by skills.
- Rename <uploaded_files> block to <current_uploads> (current-run files only)
- Add list_uploaded_files tool with include_outline: bool|list[str]
- Extract outline helpers to shared deerflow/utils/file_outline.py
- Update system prompt to reflect lazy-loading behaviour
- Historical file scan removed from UploadsMiddleware.before_agent()
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(uploads): clear uploaded_files state when no new files in current turn
When before_agent() returns None on empty turns, the LastValue
uploaded_files field retains the previous turn's filenames.
list_uploaded_files then incorrectly excludes those files as
"current-run" files, making them invisible until the next upload.
Fix: return {"uploaded_files": []} instead of None to explicitly
clear state. Add two-turn regression test covering the exact
scenario from review feedback.
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix: resolve CI lint errors and stale test assertion from merge
- Split long prompt line to fit 240-char limit
- Add missing `Any` import in list_uploaded_files_tool
- Remove unused `re` import in file_conversion (outline code moved)
- Remove unused `os` import in middleware test
- Fix test assertion: <uploaded_files> → <current_uploads> after main merge

The lazy-loading PR renamed <uploaded_files> to <current_uploads>.
The anti-drift guard scans all framework XML blocks and requires each
to be either blocked or explicitly exempted. current_uploads wraps
trusted server-generated file metadata, not user input, so it belongs

* fix: review feedback — memory pipeline, stale tags, state clearing, nits
- Match both tags in memory stripping pipeline (uploaded_files|current_uploads)
- Remove stale uploaded_files from _BLOCKED_TAG_NAMES
- Clear uploaded_files on all before_agent early-return paths
- Fix ponytail: stray word in file_conversion re-export comment
- Remove dead total_omitted branch in _format_omitted_summary

* fix: block current_uploads, sanitize only original user content
Per review feedback: instead of exempting <current_uploads> (which
allows user forgery), move it to _BLOCKED_TAG_NAMES and change
InputSanitizationMiddleware._process_request to scan only the
original user content (ORIGINAL_USER_CONTENT_KEY) when available.
Server-injected trusted blocks are no longer checked against the
blocked-tag denylist.

fix: third-round review feedback — state visibility, sanitization, regex, nits
- list_uploaded_files_tool: logger.warning instead of silent try/except
on runtime.state read failure (High)
- input_sanitization_middleware: _extract_text_from_content skips empty
text blocks to match message_content_to_text behaviour; rfind fallback
path logs warning for observability (Medium)
- memory pipeline regexes: backreference (?P<tag>)(?P=tag) in
message_processing.py and prompt.py (Low)
- file_conversion.py: re-export moved to top of file (Low)
- Tests: middleware→tool state bridge test; integrated forged-tag +
multimodal sanitization tests

fix: 4th-round review — denylist, sanitization, scandir, nits
- Add "uploaded_files" back to _BLOCKED_TAG_NAMES (old tag still processed by
deermem; user forgery must be escaped) (consistency)
- Fix inaccurate rfind-fallback comment: UploadsMiddleware keeps string as
string, fallback is unreachable for strings (doc fix)
- Distinguish "empty string key" (upload without text) from "non-string key"
(caller forgery) so empty-text uploads never escape the server block (edge)
- Merge dual os.scandir(uploads_dir) calls into one list re-use (minor)
- Add comment on .md sibling skip known limitation: user-uploaded .md files
whose stem collides with a converted doc are hidden (boundary, no code change)

fix: tighten rfind-failure fallback — distinguish server blocks from user blocks
When _extract_text_from_content and message_content_to_text disagree on
multimodal list content and rfind fails, use content[0] (server-injected
<current_uploads> block) vs content[1:] (user blocks) to sanitize only
user blocks. Raw strings and non-standard dict blocks that
_extract_text_from_content misses are now also sanitized.
Non-distinguishable paths (< 2 text blocks, non-list content) still
degrade to full sanitization (safe — server block may be escaped but
user forgery never leaks). All fallback paths log via logger.warning.

* fix: 5th-round review — dead code, subagent gating, integration test, perf, consistency
- Delete unreachable ORIGINAL_USER_CONTENT_KEY guard in rfind fallback
branch (original_user_content guaranteed non-empty str at that point)
- Remove list_uploaded_files from BUILTIN_TOOLS; add include_upload_tool
param to get_available_tools(), default True; task_tool.py passes False
so subagents no longer receive a tool whose state exclusion is broken
- Add integration test exercising real create_agent graph (not mocked
runtime.state) to verify LangGraph propagates before_agent state writes
into ToolRuntime.state during same-turn tool calls
- Cache DirEntry.stat() st_size in candidates tuple to avoid second
per-file syscall in the rendering loop
- Make the upload-tag pre-check case-insensitive (content_str.lower())
to match _UPLOAD_BLOCK_RE re.IGNORECASE

* fix(channels): pass files metadata through _human_input_message() for IM uploads
_human_input_message() was not passing additional_kwargs.files to the
downstream message. UploadsMiddleware read no files, wrote
uploaded_files=[], and list_uploaded_files reported same-run IM
attachments as historical files (fancyboi999 repro).
Fix: add files parameter to _human_input_message(), call site passes
files=uploaded. Regression test locks the contract.
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(channels): remove legacy <uploaded_files> manual prepend to fix double-injection regression
Commit 8d86dbf6 added files= pass-through to UploadsMiddleware but
left the manual _format_uploaded_files_block() prepend in place.
Every IM attachment reached the model twice — once via the legacy
<uploaded_files> block and once via <current_uploads>.
This commit removes the manual prepend and the now-dead
_format_uploaded_files_block() function. UploadsMiddleware is the
sole upload-context producer for both IM and web paths.

* docs: update #4212 issue body to reflect completed fixes and narrowed remaining scope
* chore: remove temporary scratch file
* fix(middleware): neutralize user-derived values inside <current_uploads> block
Upload-derived filenames, paths, outline titles, and preview text are
interpolated verbatim inside the trusted <current_uploads> wrapper,
which InputSanitizationMiddleware exempts from sanitization. A crafted
filename or document heading containing blocked authority tags would
bypass the guardrail and enter model context as trusted framework data.
Fix: call neutralize_untrusted_tags() on all four user-derived values
inside _format_file_entry(), preserving the outer <current_uploads>
wrapper untouched.
Reported-by: fancyboi999 (P1 security review)
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(middleware): neutralize extension labels in omitted-file summary
Files exceeding the 10-item context cap bypass _format_file_entry().
Their extensions, derived from user-controlled filenames via
_extension_label(), were interpolated verbatim into the trusted
<current_uploads> wrapper — another path for blocked authority tags
to escape the guardrail.
Fix: neutralize extension values inside _extension_label(), the
single extraction point for all extension labels.
Reported-by: fancyboi999 (P1 security review)
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(tools): neutralize user-derived values in list_uploaded_files tool result
Apply neutralize_untrusted_tags() to every model-visible user-derived value
returned by list_uploaded_files: filename, virtual path, extension, outline
titles, outline preview lines, and omitted-file extension summary.
This closes the last remaining injection bypass in the upload lazy-loading
path - the <current_uploads> block and its omitted summary were already
neutralized (previous commits), but the list_uploaded_files tool produced
a second exit for the same attacker-controlled metadata that
ToolResultSanitizationMiddleware did not cover.
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(tests): add missing include_upload_tool=False to task_tool mock assertions
PR #4174 added include_upload_tool parameter to get_available_tools().
task_tool.py correctly passes include_upload_tool=False for subagents
but 5 existing tests' assert_called_once_with expectations were not
updated, causing CI failures.

fix(feishu): check response.success() on send_file's reply/create calls (#4335)
willem-bd's review on PR #4234 (Feishu card response.success() checks) flagged send_file (around lines 313-318) as having the same unchecked- response pattern: after _upload_image/_upload_file (which already raise on a business-level failure), the resulting file/image message.reply or message.create call's response was never checked, so a failed send logged "file sent" and returned True exactly like a real success. Adds the same response.success() check used by _reply_card/_create_card/ _update_card, raising (caught by the existing try/except, which already logs and returns False) so the caller can no longer mistake a silent business-level failure for a delivered file/image. |

fix(channels): escape Slack reserved chars before mrkdwn conversion (#4197)
* fix(channels): escape &/</> in Slack outbound text before mrkdwn conversion Slack requires callers to replace &, <, and > with their HTML entity equivalents before sending message text, since an unescaped <...> triggers Slack's own mention/link syntax (e.g. <@USERID>, <http://url|label>). SlackChannel.send() ran msg.text through the markdown-to-mrkdwn converter and sent the result straight to chat_postMessage with no escaping step, so technical/code content like "if a < b && b > c:" would arrive as literal Slack markup and render broken or misinterpreted. Escaping must happen before the mrkdwn conversion, not after: the converter emits its own <url|label> syntax for real markdown links ([text](url)), and that generated syntax must reach Slack unescaped. Escaping raw input first (via html.escape(text, quote=False), which replaces & before </>) and leaving the converter's output alone satisfies both requirements. * fix(channels): preserve a line-leading > as Slack's blockquote marker _escape_slack_text's html.escape(text, quote=False) replaces every ">" with ">", including a ">" at the start of a line -- Slack's own mrkdwn blockquote marker, which the converter otherwise passes through unchanged. Agent output using markdown blockquotes for quoting/callouts lost its blockquote styling and arrived as a literal "> " prefix instead of a rendered blockquote. Only "&" and "<" neutralize Slack's "<...>" mention/link syntax; ">" is special to Slack only at the start of a line. Restore a line-leading ">" to a literal character after escaping (re.sub with MULTILINE), so the mrkdwn converter still renders it as a blockquote; a "<"/"&" anywhere, and a ">" that is not at a line start, still escape. New tests cover the line-start preservation, that the exemption does not widen into "never escape '>'" (a mid-line/non-leading ">" still escapes), and that restoration applies per line in multiline text; all three revert cleanly against the unconditional html.escape() to reproduce the blockquote-corruption bug. Full test_channels.py (259 tests) plus ruff check/format are clean. |

fix(channels): document GitHub dedupe TTL, tighten redelivery tests (#4274)
* fix(channels): document GitHub dedupe TTL, tighten redelivery tests Follow-up to PR #4104's review, whose non-blocking notes were left unaddressed at merge time: - Document the previously-undocumented inbound-dedupe TTL (INBOUND_DEDUPE_TTL_SECONDS, 10 min, in-memory only) directly above the constant in ChannelManager: what it is, why the window, and what happens at the boundary (a manual "Redeliver" clicked after the TTL has elapsed, or any redelivery after a Gateway restart, is not deduped, since _recent_inbound_events is never persisted to ChannelStore). Cross-reference it from the GitHub dispatcher's fan-out comment, which previously implied unconditional redelivery coverage. - test_channels.py::test_github_redelivery_is_deduped_like_other_channels: the _gh helper stamped a 2-part delivery:agent id while production stamps a 3-part delivery:user:agent id. Align the helper with the real shape and add a cross-user assertion the old 2-part shape could not even express. - test_github_dispatcher.py::test_missing_delivery_header_leaves_dedupe_open: previously only asserted the dispatcher-layer id was None. Add the manager-level _is_duplicate_inbound assertion across two header-less deliveries so a future regression that treats a missing id as a real key is caught here too, not only at the dispatcher layer. All four affected test files (test_github_dispatcher.py, test_channels.py, test_github_channel.py, test_github_registry.py) pass; ruff check and ruff format --check are clean. Verified the two tightened tests actually discriminate by temporarily reintroducing each bug they target (2-part id shape; missing-id treated as a real key) and confirming the new assertions fail, then reverting. * fix(channels): correct GitHub redelivery claim in dedupe comments fancyboi999's review on this PR flagged that the previous commit's new comments (manager.py, dispatcher.py) justified the 10-minute dedupe TTL by claiming GitHub automatically retries a failed delivery after its 10-second timeout. GitHub's own documentation says the opposite: failed deliveries (non-2xx, timeout, connection error) are recorded as failed and never automatically redelivered, for both repository and GitHub App webhooks alike. Every redelivery is explicit: the "Redeliver" button, the REST API, or an operator's own recovery script. - manager.py: rework the INBOUND_DEDUPE_TTL_SECONDS comment to state GitHub's actual behavior (no auto-retry), cite the authoritative doc (docs.github.com/en/webhooks/using-webhooks/handling-failed-webhook-deliveries), and justify the 10-minute window as a bound on explicit near-term replays rather than an automatic-retry window. No longer asserts unverified retry behavior for the other channels either. - dispatcher.py: same correction for the dedupe_message_id comment, which previously implied "retried after a timeout" as a distinct, automatic case alongside the manual "Redeliver" button. - test_channels.py / test_github_dispatcher.py: reworded the two docstrings and one section comment that repeated the same "retry-on-timeout" framing, so the corrected mental model doesn't sit next to contradicting prose nearby. No assertions changed. Verified directly against GitHub's current documentation (fetched, not paraphrased from memory): "Handling failed webhook deliveries" states plainly that GitHub does not auto-redeliver; "Automatically redelivering failed deliveries for a GitHub App webhook" / "...for a repository webhook" are both guides for a user-written recovery script (GitHub's own example runs on a 6-hour cron), not a native GitHub feature. No difference in this behavior between GitHub Apps and repository webhooks. All four affected test files pass; the two `test_bot_login_whitespace_only` / `test_trigger_mention_login_whitespace_only` failures in test_github_dispatcher.py are pre-existing on this branch's unmodified HEAD (confirmed against a clean checkout of the same commit) and are unrelated to this change. ruff check and ruff format --check are clean on all four touched files. |

fix(channels): key inbound dedupe on chat-scoped workspaces (#4287)
* fix(channels): key inbound dedupe on chat-scoped workspaces * fix(channels): release the inbound dedupe key on swallowed transient failures _release_inbound_dedupe_key runs from _handle_message's generic exception handler, but three sites handle their error in place and never re-raise, so the key recorded on receipt survives the full dedupe TTL and the provider's redelivery -- the retry that would have recovered the failure -- is dropped: - _handle_streaming_chat swallows every stream error into its finally block - the fire-and-forget runs.create busy branch - the non-streaming runs.wait busy branch Keying chat-scoped workspaces gives telegram/feishu/wechat/dingtalk a dedupe key for the first time, which newly exposes them to this. The mechanism is pre-existing, not introduced here: WeCom already had a key (streaming plus aibotid) and shows the same black hole on main. Also parametrize the dispatch dedupe test over all three chat-scoped providers so the streaming path is covered end-to-end, and restate the workspace-fallback comment in terms of what the chain actually guarantees -- both fallbacks are appended last and gated on every earlier source being absent, so they can only turn "no key" into a key, never change one. * fix(channels): publish final reply before dedupe release --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> |

fix(channels): isolate per-message failures in WeChat poll loop (#4231)
_poll_loop persisted the long-poll cursor (get_updates_buf) for the whole getupdates batch immediately on receipt, then iterated data["msgs"] with no per-message error handling. If any single message's processing raised (e.g. an attachment that fails to decrypt), the for loop aborted and every message after the failing one in that batch was never handled -- but since the cursor had already advanced past the whole batch, the next poll would never re-fetch them. The loss was silent and permanent, not a delay. Fix is two parts: - Wrap each _handle_update call in its own try/except (re-raising CancelledError) so one bad message is logged and skipped instead of aborting the rest of the batch. - Move the cursor advance/persist to after the per-message loop instead of before it, so a hard crash mid-batch leaves the cursor unmoved. Worst case becomes re-fetching and re-processing the batch on restart, not silently skipping messages that were never actually handled. Regression test drives the real _handle_update over a 3-message batch where the middle message is a WeChat image item with deliberately non-block-aligned "encrypted" bytes, so decryption raises a genuine cryptography ValueError (the same failure shape a corrupt real attachment would produce). Confirms the first and third messages both still reach the bus, the failure is logged with the message id, and the persisted cursor reflects the fully-attempted batch. |

fix(channels): don't treat a bare "connect" as a bind command (#4251)
`extract_connect_code` matched `command in {"/connect", "connect"}`, so any
message whose first word is the ordinary English word "connect" was parsed as
`/connect <code>` and its next word swallowed as a one-time bind code. For
example `extract_connect_code("connect the database to the api")` returned
`"the"` instead of `None`, meaning a normal chat message never reached the
agent and instead attempted a channel bind.
Every other channel control command requires a leading slash:
`is_known_channel_command` only matches `/`-prefixed tokens and
`KNOWN_CHANNEL_COMMANDS` holds only slash forms (`/goal`, `/new`, ...). The
docstrings and AGENTS.md advertise only `/connect <code>`. The bare alias was
inconsistent with all of that and produced the false-positive bind.
Match only `/connect`. The `.lower()` keeps it case-insensitive (`/Connect`)
and the mention-prefix handling from #4222 is unaffected, so
`@bot /connect <code>` still binds.

fix(channels): scope the slash-skill whitelist check to the run's owner (#4129)
_channel_storage_user_id is the single source of truth for a channel run's
identity: _resolve_run_params resolves the owner into run_context["user_id"].
The /skill whitelist pre-check for a per-user custom agent
(_resolve_available_skill_names) resolves that owner and then drops it, calling
load_agent_config(name) with no user_id. It falls back to get_effective_user_id(),
but this runs on the ChannelManager dispatch loop where the _current_user
contextvar is never set, so it resolves "default" -- reading
users/default/agents/{name}/ instead of the owner's bucket. When that bucket has
no such agent (the common case) load_agent_config raises FileNotFoundError, which
the dispatch loop turns into "An internal error occurred" on every /skill
command; when a foreign agent shares the name, the whitelist is decided by the
wrong user's skills list.
Pass the resolved owner (run_context["user_id"]) to load_agent_config, matching
every other caller (gateway/routers/agents.py, update_agent_tool.py,
github/registry.py). None when no owner is resolvable, preserving the prior
default-user behavior for unbound/no-auth channels.

fix(streaming): drop silent delta-discard in _merge_stream_text (#4085)
The dual-mode _merge_stream_text used short-circuits chunk==existing and existing.endswith(chunk) that silently dropped legitimate delta chunks in messages-tuple mode: - CJK reduplication: '谢谢' tokenized as ['谢','谢'] -> buffer stays '谢' - Repeated tokens: 'gogo' as ['go','go'] -> buffer stays 'go' - Suffix-matching tails: 'hello' as ['hel','l','o'] -> drops 'l' Delta payloads must always append; only strictly-longer cumulative snapshots should replace. The fix gates the cumulative-replace branch with len(chunk) > len(existing) and removes the dropped-shape guards. Both copies are fixed: - app/channels/manager.py (IM streaming to Feishu/Telegram/etc.) - deerflow/tui/view_state.py (TUI client rendering) The TUI reduce() caller now handles exact re-sends (values snapshot re-emitting history) before the merge, and the len>1 guard prevents single-char CJK deltas from being mistaken for re-sends. feat(channels): add GitHub as a webhook-driven channel (#3754)
* feat(channels): add GitHub event-driven agents (#3754) Add a webhook-driven GitHub channel with fail-closed webhook routing, deterministic per-agent PR/issue threads, mention-gated trigger fan-out, GitHub App token injection for sandboxed gh/git commands, and backend/AGENTS.md documentation. * fix(llm-middleware): classify bare IndexError as transient Upstream chat providers occasionally return 200 OK with an empty generations list (observed against Volces "coding" on ark.cn-beijing.volces.com). When that happens, langchain_core.language_models.chat_models.ainvoke raises ``IndexError: list index out of range`` at ``llm_result.generations[0][0].message`` and kills the run. Treat a bare IndexError reaching the middleware as a transient upstream-payload glitch and route it through the existing retry/backoff path instead of failing the whole agent run. The retry budget and backoff schedule are unchanged. Adds three regression tests covering the classifier and both the recover-on-retry and exhausted-retries paths. * fix(runtime): ignore stale LLM fallback markers from prior runs When a run on a thread ends with the LLM-error-handling middleware emitting a `deerflow_error_fallback`-marked AIMessage (e.g. after the IndexError empty-generations classification fix lands), that message is persisted to the thread's checkpoint as part of the messages channel. LangGraph replays the full message history in `stream_mode="values"` chunks, so every subsequent run on the same thread re-streams the stale fallback marker — and the worker's chunk scanner faithfully picks it up, flipping `RunStatus.success` to `RunStatus.error` for runs that themselves had no LLM failure at all. Snapshot the set of pre-existing message ids from the pre-run checkpoint and thread it through `_extract_llm_error_fallback_message` / `_try_extract_from_message` as a filter. Markers on history messages are ignored; markers on fresh messages produced during this run still trip the error path. Falls back to an empty set when the checkpointer is absent or the snapshot can't be captured, preserving the prior behavior on first-run / no-state paths. Adds unit tests for the new filter (helper-level and `_collect_pre_existing_message_ids`) plus an integration test exercising the full `run_agent` path with a stale history checkpointer. * fix(channels): make github channel fire-and-forget to avoid httpx.ReadTimeout on long runs GitHub agent runs (clone -> edit -> test -> push -> PR) routinely exceed the langgraph_sdk default 300s read deadline. The manager's runs.wait call kept an HTTP stream open for the entire run lifetime, so the long run blew up with httpx.ReadTimeout and the outer except branch then released the dedupe key and emitted a false 'internal error' outbound. The GitHub channel's outbound send is log-only by design: agents post to the issue/PR via the gh CLI in the sandbox when they choose to comment or create a PR. There is nothing for the manager to ferry back, so the long-poll was pure overhead. This change adds ChannelRunPolicy.fire_and_forget (default False) and sets it True for the github channel. When fire_and_forget is True, _handle_chat dispatches via client.runs.create (short POST, returns once the run is pending) instead of client.runs.wait, and skips the response-extraction + outbound-publish block. ConflictError on a busy thread still trips the standard THREAD_BUSY_MESSAGE path so behavior on the busy case is preserved for any future non-github fire-and-forget channel. Other (non-github) channels are unchanged: their policy defaults fire_and_forget=False and they continue to dispatch via runs.wait. Adds 6 regression tests in tests/test_channels.py::TestGithubFireAndForget: - Default ChannelRunPolicy.fire_and_forget is False. - The github policy registers fire_and_forget=True. - github inbound calls runs.create, not runs.wait, with the right kwargs. - github inbound publishes no outbound on success. - ConflictError from runs.create still emits THREAD_BUSY_MESSAGE. - Non-github channels (slack) still dispatch via runs.wait. * test(lead-agent): accept user_id kwarg in skill-policy test stubs The two GitHub-channel tests added in #3754 stubbed _load_enabled_skills_for_tool_policy with a lambda that only accepted `available_skills` and `app_config`, but the real function (and its call site in agent.py) also passes `user_id`. This raised TypeError on every run, failing backend-unit-tests. Add `user_id=None` to match the three sibling stubs in the same file. * refactor(gateway): disambiguate context-key set names The two frozensets _INTERNAL_ONLY_CONTEXT_KEYS and _CONTEXT_ONLY_KEYS shared a confusable "CONTEXT_ONLY" token in different orders, and the first broke the _CONTEXT_<X>_KEYS pattern of its sibling _CONTEXT_CONFIGURABLE_KEYS. Rename to make the distinct axes explicit: _CONTEXT_INTERNAL_CALLER_KEYS - WHO: internal callers (scheduler) only _CONTEXT_RUNTIME_ONLY_KEYS - WHERE: runtime context only, never configurable Pure rename, no behavior change. |

fix(channels): offload blocking filesystem IO in Wechat channel (#3925)
WechatChannel made synchronous filesystem calls (mkdir, write_text, read_bytes, Path.replace, unlink) directly inside async entry points: _poll_loop, _bind_via_qrcode, _ensure_authenticated, _extract_image_file, _extract_file_item, start, _send_image_attachment, _send_file_attachment. Under slow disks, large files, or concurrent load these blocked the asyncio event loop and stalled the channel worker. Construction was also blocking: __init__ called _load_state() (os.stat + read_text) synchronously, and ChannelService._start_channel() instantiates the channel directly on the async path, so constructing WechatChannel in an async context raised BlockingError. Persisted state (auth token + cursor) is now loaded in start() via asyncio.to_thread, leaving __init__ IO-free. Offload each call to a thread via asyncio.to_thread, matching the existing pattern in channels/manager.py and dingtalk.py. The sync helpers (_save_state, _save_auth_state, _load_auth_state, _stage_downloaded_file) keep their signatures; only the async call sites wrap them. Adds tests/blocking_io/test_wechat_channel_state.py as a regression anchor covering the IO-free constructor (the production _start_channel path), the staging write path, and the auth-state read path. Detected by `make detect-blocking-io`. |

fix(channels): offload blocking filesystem IO in Discord channel (#3927)
DiscordChannel ran synchronous filesystem IO on the event loop: thread-mapping persistence/restore and outbound attachment reads. Offload all of it via asyncio.to_thread: - start() -> _load_active_threads (restore mappings on startup) - _on_message -> _persist_thread_mappings (flush mappings to disk) - send_file -> _read_attachment_bytes (read bytes; handed to discord.File as an in-memory BytesIO buffer) Thread-mapping state is split to avoid a race surfaced in review (#3927): _record_thread_mapping updates the in-memory _active_threads dict and _active_thread_ids set synchronously on the event loop, so a follow-up message in a newly created thread is recognized immediately — before the offloaded persistence write completes. Deferring that update into the worker thread opened a window where _on_message's membership check misclassified the message as orphaned and created a duplicate thread. __init__ only computes paths, so construction stays IO-free. Blockbuster regression tests cover the IO-free constructor, the record-then-persist split (memory visible before persistence), discard of a replaced thread id, and the load path.
