fix(sandbox): bound E2B output synchronization resources (#4364)
* fix(sandbox): bound E2B output synchronization resources E2B release-time output sync pulled every changed file back from the remote VM with only a per-file size cap and no aggregate bound, so a pathological outputs tree (thousands of files, or many sub-cap files summing to gigabytes, or a slow VM) could make release download unboundedly on a hot path that runs at every agent turn end. Add three aggregate ceilings on top of the per-file cap — total bytes, file count, and a wall-clock deadline — enforced in the sync loop. When a ceiling is hit the pass stops early, logs what it dropped, and defers the rest to the next release. A truncated pass skips stale-manifest pruning so files it never reached are reconciled next time instead of being forgotten and re-downloaded. Closes #4340 * test(sandbox): pin multi-pass convergence of bounded output sync The four truncation tests each exercise a single capped pass. Add a two-pass test that locks in the invariant the design relies on for correctness: already-synced files are skipped before the budget check, so they never consume the cap and the deferred tail drains over successive releases instead of the leading files being re-downloaded every turn. A refactor that let a skipped file consume the cap would pass the single-pass tests but fail this one. |

fix(sandbox): scope e2b grep() glob filter to its directory prefix (#4168)
E2BSandbox.grep()'s glob handling reduced a directory-scoped pattern like "src/*.js" down to just "*.js" before passing it to `grep --include=`, dropping the directory-scoping prefix entirely. GNU grep's `--include` matches by basename only, at any depth, so the search silently broadened to every matching-extension file in the sandbox tree instead of just the directory the caller asked for. Keep the basename portion as a coarse `--include=` pre-filter (a superset of the true match set) and post-filter grep's raw hits through path_matches(), the same helper glob() already uses to enforce directory scoping correctly, so grep and glob agree on what a directory-scoped pattern means. |

feat(browser): add agentic browser control (#4187)
* feat(browser): add agentic browser control
* fix(frontend): format browser view changes
* fix(browser): keep browser optional and isolate sidecar layout
* fix(browser): address PR review security and IME findings
- Nginx: add a browser-stream WebSocket location before the generic
/api/threads regex so Live upgrades instead of downgrading to HTTP
(both nginx.conf and nginx.local.conf).
- Ownership: require an existing owned thread for the WS stream and REST
navigate, and tear down the browser session on thread deletion so a
later caller cannot reuse a retained page/cookies by guessing the id.
- SSRF: enforce the URL policy at the browser request boundary via a
context-level route guard covering redirects, popups, iframes, and
subresources (skipped for CDP-attached Chrome).
- IME: skip key forwarding while a composition is active so confirming a
CJK candidate with Enter no longer submits the remote page form.
Adds regression tests for the request guard, session teardown on delete,
and the composing-Enter key decision.
* fix(frontend): smooth streaming in long tool threads
* Revert "fix(frontend): smooth streaming in long tool threads"
This reverts commit f0462516eabe77f138d4027ea1c714fb226683cf.
* fix(browser): address review security and lifecycle findings
- Reject cross-origin WebSocket upgrades on the live browser stream
(Origin allow-list reuse of CORS/same-origin helpers) to close a
WS-CSRF hole, and fail closed when the ownership store is absent.
- Warn when a CDP-attached session runs with the SSRF request guard
off, and drop the unreachable CDP screencast teardown dead code.
- Read browser session launch config from a single canonical source
(browser_navigate) so it is deterministic regardless of call order.
- Bound per-thread Chromium accumulation with idle-timeout eviction
and an LRU max-sessions cap.
- Reset the Live reconnect counter on a successful open so the stream
can't permanently stall after the cumulative attempt cap.
* fix(frontend): reduce long tool thread render stalls
Reuse stable historical message groups during streaming, defer heavy Markdown and browser previews, and lazy-decode message images.
* fix(browser): keep live control responsive during continuous input
Why: Manual browser control felt laggy — a physical click ran the remote
Playwright click three times and each non-move input synchronously awaited a
JPEG screenshot, so events queued behind capture (queue wait up to ~237ms).
The first async attempt used a trailing-edge debounce, which froze the visible
page until a wheel/keyboard gesture stopped ("scroll finishes, then it jumps").
What:
- Frontend forwards one `click` per physical click instead of also emitting
`down`/`up`, so the remote page is not clicked twice per gesture.
- Backend detaches live-frame capture from input dispatch: non-move actions
start a rate-limited background refresh loop (leading frame + bounded cadence)
that keeps emitting frames while input continues and never blocks dispatch.
- Add regression tests: input dispatch no longer awaits the screenshot, rapid
inputs coalesce, and continuous input keeps refreshing before it stops.
Scenarios: Verified in the live Browser panel — a single click completes in
~57ms (was blocked behind a 171ms capture), and a 1.14s sustained wheel gesture
renders ~7 frames throughout the scroll instead of one frame after it ends.
* fix(browser): harden worker and session lifecycle
* fix(browser): address latest review feedback
* fix(frontend): preserve optimistic new-chat message
* test(e2e): preserve mocked message run ids
* fix(browser): address capability review feedback

fix(sandbox): stop multi-worker orphan reconcile from killing peer sandboxes (#4221)
* fix(sandbox): stop multi-worker orphan reconcile from killing peer sandboxes Docker sandboxes are shared across gateway workers, but each worker kept its own in-memory warm pool. Startup reconciliation adopted every running container, so a peer idle reaper could destroy sandboxes another worker still owned and tool calls hit 502 / Connection refused. Add file-based ownership leases under sandbox-leases/, only adopt true orphans, refuse idle/replica/shutdown destroy while a foreign lease is live, and renew the lease on create/get/release/reclaim. Fixes #4206 * fix(sandbox): close lease fail-open, hot-path IO, and check→destroy race Address review of the multi-worker orphan lease (#4206): - read_lease returns None only for a genuinely-absent lease and raises (CorruptLeaseError/OSError) when a lease is unreadable or corrupt, so the ownership check fails closed instead of mistaking an unprovable peer lease for a free container. clear_lease still removes a stuck/corrupt file. - get() no longer renews the lease (blocking mkdir/fsync/os.replace on the event loop path used by ensure_sandbox_initialized_async); active leases are renewed off the event loop from the idle checker (_renew_active_leases). - The ownership check and container stop run under a per-sandbox flock guard (lease_ownership_guard); every lease write takes the same guard so a peer's touch cannot interleave with a destroy. Same-host multi-worker scope, not a multi-pod distributed lock. Also fixes the ruff format lint on the branch. Adds regression tests: corrupt and unreadable lease fail closed, a tests/blocking_io anchor keeping get() non-blocking on the event loop, and a peer-touch/destroy interleave test. * fix(sandbox): share container ownership across gateway instances Rework of the #4206 fix per review: ownership state is shared through a third-party service instead of being maintained per gateway instance, following the stream_bridge precedent (sandbox.ownership.type: memory | redis). The file lease and its same-host flock guard are deleted, not ported — they only covered workers on one host, while the deployment that hits #4206 is a load-balanced multi-instance gateway. A lease answers "who reaps this container", not "who may use it". Containers are deterministic per (user, thread), so consecutive turns legitimately land on different instances: take() transfers ownership on acquire, while claim() gates every adopt/reap path. Leases carry a state — own: or del: — so a takeover is refused against a teardown in progress. Without it an unconditional take() would overwrite a destroyer's claim and the peer's container stop would land on a sandbox the new owner had already handed to an agent. renew() distinguishes a lapsed lease from one a peer took; only the latter drops the sandbox. Collapsing them meant a Redis restart evicted every in-flight sandbox on every instance at once. Renewal runs on its own thread with a TTL derived from its interval, never from idle_timeout: renewal used to ride the idle checker, which does not start at idle_timeout: 0, so leases silently lapsed on a supported config. Ownership establishment is fail-closed: a sandbox whose ownership cannot be published is never handed out, and a just-created container is destroyed rather than leaked as an adoptable orphan. Every destroy path claims before untracking. The memory store is single-instance only and says so; the resolver reads app_config.stream_bridge and the env var in the bridge's own order, so deployments already using Redis get a redis ownership store without extra config. * fix(sandbox): wait out a recovery grace before adopting a keyless container An absent ownership lease meant two opposite things on two paths. Renewal reads it as LAPSED and re-establishes it: nobody took the lease, so the container is still ours. Reconciliation read the same absent key as "orphan" and adopted on sight. After the store loses its keys (a Redis restart without persistence, or eviction under maxmemory) every owner is alive and merely pre-renewal-tick. Whichever instance reconciled first therefore adopted every live container; each real owner's next renewal reported LOST and dropped a sandbox it was serving mid-turn, leaving it for the adopter to idle-destroy — #4206 through the back door, in the very case the LAPSED handling was added to make safe. Not limited to startup: an already-running instance hits the same window from the idle checker's periodic reconcile. _adoptable_after_grace requires an untracked container to be seen unowned across a full lease TTL before it can be adopted. That rebuilds the delay the state loss erased: a live owner republishes within one renewal interval, shorter than the TTL by construction, while a crashed owner never does, so its containers are still adopted one grace later rather than leaking. A republished lease resets the grace; a pausing-only timer would still expire over a live owner's lease. The peek is read-only — the atomic claim still gates adoption. The grace is skipped when the store cannot coordinate across processes: no peer can hold a lease such a store would show us, so single-instance deployments keep instant orphan cleanup, and a grace could not help a multi-worker gateway on memory anyway. * fix(sandbox): hold the teardown lease for as long as the container stop runs claim(..., for_destroy=True) wrote the del: marker with the ordinary lease TTL and nothing refreshed it. renew() extends only own: and deliberately reports a teardown as LOST, and the destroy paths drop the sandbox from the maps the renewal loop iterates — so a container stop that outlived the TTL let the marker lapse, a peer's take() succeeded against the still-running container, and the stop then landed on the turn that had just been handed it. That is the exact window the del: state exists to close, reopened by its own expiry. The two lease states alone never made the per-sandbox flock redundant, as I claimed when deleting it: a held lock cannot expire, a lease can. The exclusion has to be held deliberately rather than assumed to outlast the work it guards. _held_teardown_lease wraps both _backend.destroy() call sites and re-claims the marker every renewal_interval_seconds until the stop returns. No store change is needed: claim(for_destroy=True) already refreshes an existing del: marker on both backends. Reachable without an abnormal backend. The schema bounds only renewal_interval_seconds (> 0) and ttl_multiplier (>= 2), so a legal config puts the TTL below a normal container stop; and LocalContainerBackend._stop_container passes no timeout to subprocess.run, so a wedged daemon blocks unbounded even at the default 120s TTL. The TTL stays finite on purpose: the heartbeat dies with the process, so a destroyer that crashes mid-stop still releases the container one TTL later instead of marking it undestroyable forever. * fix(sandbox): hold the teardown lease on every del: stop, and pin the claims that had no test 90936b49 said `_held_teardown_lease` wrapped "both" `_backend.destroy()` call sites. There are three. `_drop_unhealthy_sandbox` marks `del:` and then blocks on the same unbounded stop, and it untracks *before* claiming, so `_renew_owned_leases` cannot see the id either — nothing refreshed the marker. Reproduced against a real redis: the peer's `take()` succeeds 1.0s into a 2.5s stop. Same window, third path. That miss came from the habit the rest of this commit addresses: a property asserted in prose, with no test that could falsify it. Auditing every load-bearing claim in this feature — AGENTS.md, the store docstrings, the provider's design comments — against the test that would go red turned up several more, each verified by mutating the code and watching the suite stay green. Tests that could not fail: - `test_reconcile_fails_closed_when_ownership_unknown` reached the grace gate, not the claim. A bare MagicMock answers `owner()` with a truthy mock, so the container read as peer-owned and deferred; `claim()` was never called. It stayed green with `_claim_ownership` failing open. Adding the grace ahead of the claim is what hollowed it out — inserting a gate can silently disarm the tests for the gate behind it. - `test_adoption_grace_restarts_when_a_live_owner_republishes` never distinguished reset from pause. Those diverge only on a *second* lapse, which it never drove, so it passed with the reset deleted. Claims with no test at all, each now pinned (mutation → red, per test): - `destroy()`, `_evict_oldest_warm`, `_reclaim_warm_pool_sandbox`, `_register_created_sandbox` and `shutdown()`'s warm loop were each the one untested sibling of an "every path does X" enumeration. `shutdown()` was never driven with a non-empty warm pool, so a loop bypassing the ownership claim — stopping a live peer's container on our exit — went unnoticed. - Renewal's unknown-is-not-lost rule, the single deliberate exception to fail-closed. Inverting it drops every active and warm sandbox on every instance the moment the store blinks. - Both hops of the stream-bridge redis inference. Deleting either left the suite green while every config.yaml-native multi-instance deployment silently fell back to memory — #4206 reopened on exactly the deployments the inference exists for. Claims narrowed instead, because they promised more than the code delivers: - "run against both backends ... cannot drift" — CI provisions no redis, so the merge gate runs the memory tier only and the Lua never executes there. - "Every destroy path claims before untracking" — `_drop_unhealthy_sandbox` untracks first, deliberately, under its `expected_info` TOCTOU guard. - "Atomic: concurrent claims from different instances cannot both succeed" — true via Lua on redis, vacuous on the single-instance memory store, and pinned by neither, since the contract suite drives sequential calls. A concurrency test against the memory store would make the claim look covered while the mechanism that carries it still never runs in CI. * fix(sandbox): release the teardown marker when a destroy() stop fails The three `del:`-marked stop paths disagreed on failure. `_destroy_warm_entry` releases on both outcomes and says why: the stop failed, so the container is probably still up, and a marker left behind refuses its own thread's `take()` until the TTL lapses. `_drop_unhealthy_sandbox` does the same. `destroy()` had no such guard — a raising backend propagated straight past `_release_ownership`, and the thread could not re-acquire for a full TTL. Fails safe rather than fatal: a stuck marker stops peers from touching the container, it is not the cross-instance kill. But the paths must agree, and this one is the odd one out. Release, then re-raise. Swallowing would be the easier symmetry with `_destroy_warm_entry`'s `return False`, but `destroy()` has no failure return and `shutdown()` logs per sandbox off the exception, so swallowing would silently narrow what callers can see. Found by comparing the three paths after @fancyboi999 asked for release to be handled "consistently with the other destroy paths" on the unhealthy path — which 0d2377b2 already does. This is the sibling that wasn't. * fix(deploy): bump chart config_version to 27 for sandbox.ownership config.example.yaml went to 27 with the new sandbox.ownership section, but the chart embeds its own copy and stayed at 26, so validate-chart failed. A bare bump: the chart already sets stream_bridge.type=redis, which is what resolve_ownership_config infers a redis ownership store from, so no field change is needed. * fix(sandbox): release the teardown lease from its heartbeat, not the caller `_held_teardown_lease` joined its heartbeat only briefly and the caller cleared the `del:` marker right after the stop. A refresh `claim` still in flight (`RedisOwnershipStore` had no socket timeout, so a round trip could block) could land *after* that release and rewrite `del:` on a container whose stop had already completed — refusing a fresh `take()` (or rolling back a fresh create) until the TTL. Move the release into the heartbeat's own `finally`, after its loop stops, so no refresh can run after it. The three destroy paths no longer release after the `with` (`destroy()`'s no-container branch still does, since no lease was held there). Bound every store round trip with a socket timeout so the in-flight refresh — and thus the deferred release — stays finite, and broaden the heartbeat's `except` so an unexpected error cannot strand the marker during a long stop. Also fold in the review follow-ups: stop re-resolving an already-resolved ownership config in the factory, document the Redis-outage-vs-TTL boundary in config.example.yaml, and add a tests/blocking_io anchor pinning that `release()`'s store round trip stays off the event loop. * fix(sandbox): refuse a non-destroy claim that would unwind our own teardown `claim(for_destroy=False)` against our own `del:` lease fell through and overwrote it with `own:`, cancelling a teardown that was already in flight. The container stop cannot be recalled, so downgrading the marker would let a `take()` hand out a container that is about to die -- #4206, self-inflicted. No caller does this today: the two non-destroy callers run against an absent key (the LAPSED re-claim) or an unowned one (post-grace reconcile). The contract has to forbid it rather than rely on that staying true. Fixed in both backends. The redis rule lives in Lua and the memory rule in Python, so fixing one only would let them drift silently -- and the shared contract suite is what is supposed to catch that drift, so it now covers this. Also adds a contention test for `claim`. The suite drove sequential calls only, so it pinned the exclusion predicate but not the atomicity that predicate depends on; eight instances now race for one container and exactly one must win. * fix(sandbox): bound the container stop so it cannot outlive its teardown lease `_stop_container` passed no `timeout` to `subprocess.run`, so a wedged container runtime blocks it forever. The `del:` marker is what keeps a peer from re-acquiring the container while the stop runs, but a marker is a lease and a lease can lapse: a store outage longer than the TTL frees it, a peer's `take()` succeeds against the still-running container, and the stop then lands on the turn that was just handed it -- the exact #4206 failure. The teardown heartbeat already covers the case where the store stays reachable. This bounds the worst case independently of the ownership layer, which is the point: it holds even when the ownership layer is the thing that failed. A timeout is not swallowed like a `CalledProcessError`. That error means the runtime answered "I could not stop it"; a timeout means we do not know, and the container is probably still running -- returning normally would let `_destroy_warm_entry` report a clean stop and drop the warm entry, leaking a running container nothing tracks. * fix(sandbox): exclude this instance's own reapers from its acquire path An ownership lease excludes peers and nothing else. `claim()` and `take()` both succeed against our own `own:` lease by design -- that is what lets a destroy path claim what it already owns -- so `del:` says nothing to this process's other threads. Meanwhile every reaper decides outside `_lock`, because a store round trip must not be held under the lock that guards every acquire. So each reaper acts on a decision its own acquire path may already have invalidated, and the store cannot see the difference. Six paths end in an irreversible act (a container stop, or closing a host-side client) on a decision made outside the lock. All six reproduce: _evict_oldest_warm re-checks warm membership, then releases the lock _reap_expired_warm no re-check at all _cleanup_idle_sandboxes re-verifies idle, then releases the lock _renew_owned_leases acts on a stale renew() -> LOST release() same staleness on its own refresh _drop_unhealthy_sandbox untracks before claiming, opening discovery Both warm reapers are a regression from the deferred pop this branch introduced: `WarmPoolLifecycleMixin` popped under the lock, so a reclaim's membership check failed and the race could not occur. Deferring the pop is still right (popping first loses the container on a refused claim), so the exclusion has to be made explicit instead. The idle path is pre-existing in shape, but this branch widened it from a few instructions to a network round trip by claiming ownership before untracking. Two guards, because the two directions want opposite answers: Reaping -- nothing may promote it. The reaper reserves the id, and every promote path refuses a reserved id exactly as it refuses a peer's `del:` (drop and cold-start). The "is this still reapable?" test travels with the reservation as a predicate and runs in the same critical section, because checking first and reserving second is the window, not a narrower version of it. Forgetting -- the peer legitimately wins, so the promote is what to detect. `_publish_ownership` bumps a per-id acquire epoch; the callers that decide from a store round trip snapshot it first, and the pop is skipped if it moved. Object identity cannot substitute: the reuse path re-publishes ownership while handing out the same tracked `AioSandbox`, so an identity check sees nothing and the pop closes a client mid-turn. `still_reapable` is required rather than defaulting to unconditional -- the safe default is the one that makes a new call site think about it. That diverges from the mixin hook, which is safe because this provider overrides both mixin callers, and loud rather than silent if those are ever dropped. Also closes a client leak on the discover path: "nothing to roll back" was true of the container but not of the HTTP client constructed before the publish, which the sibling create path already closes. The shared-store test view rebound `owner_id` outside the store's lock, so a concurrent claim could execute under the wrong id and read its own lease as a peer's. Serialized, so the heartbeat-hold tests stop flaking. * fix(sandbox): mark acquire intent before the ownership round trip A guard must become visible no later than the transition it guards. The acquire epoch cannot manage that for `take()`: the takeover is durable before `take()` returns -- redis has committed the SET while the reply is still in flight -- and the epoch can only be written afterwards. In that interval the store already says the container is ours while the epoch still reads as it did when a renewal decided `LOST`, so the stale forget walks through, drops the maps and closes the client the acquire is about to hand back. Acquire then returns an id the provider no longer tracks and `get()` answers `None` for the rest of the turn. `_publish_ownership` now publishes an intent mark under `_lock` before the round trip; the epoch keeps covering the other half, "an acquire completed since you decided". `_forget_lost_sandbox` honours the intent mark unconditionally rather than only when an epoch is supplied -- today's epoch-less callers cannot reach the window, but "no epoch" reading as "no guard" is how the next caller of a dangerous primitive gets written. The same invariant had four more instances, all reproduced: reuse returns a decision the forget already invalidated -- before the mark is set a `LOST` is both current and correct, so the forget legitimately runs and the entry reuse decided to hand out is gone. Re-check after publishing and fall through to discovery instead. reclaim installs an entry a reaper reserved after its check -- the warm entry is still visible during the stop, and the reaper's claim succeeds because reclaim's own take() just made the lease ours. Re-check likewise. the reservation was released before the entry was removed -- the pop belonged to the caller, leaving a gap where the container is stopped, the entry is still in `_warm_pool`, and nothing marks it. `_destroy_warm_entry` removes it itself, inside the reservation; the pop stays deferred relative to the stop, just not to the reservation. reconcile adopts a container this instance is tearing down -- adoption is a promote and needs the same reservation check as the others. Neither existing guard excludes it: the claim succeeds because the lease is ours, and on `memory` the recovery grace is skipped outright. The pre-round-trip checks in reuse and reclaim are kept as early-outs, since they skip a health check and a store round trip on a doomed entry, and are pinned to that job rather than to a correctness role they no longer hold. The teardown reservation predicate runs under `_lock`, so it must not touch the lock. Documented rather than engineered around: making the lock reentrant to tolerate it would trade a loud hang for a quiet class of re-entrancy bugs across the rest of the provider. * fix(sandbox): honor local teardown after ownership publish * fix(sandbox): clear a stale warm entry when an id becomes active Active and warm are exclusive states, and the two register paths were the only place that could hold both: they inserted into `_sandboxes` without popping `_warm_pool`, so one container ended up with two reapers. `_reap_expired_warm` judges an entry by its warm timestamp and never consults `_last_activity`, so it stops a container an agent is actively using while `_sandboxes` still hands out its client. Reachable because `_reconcile_orphans` adopts an untracked-but-running container into the warm pool inside the register's publish -> track window, and on the `memory` store it adopts on sight: `_adoptable_after_grace` short-circuits when `supports_cross_process` is False, so an id carrying this process's own lease reads as adoptable. That window is new to this branch -- on main the track was a single locked insert with nothing before it. Both register paths now pop the warm entry inside the same locked section that installs the active one. * fix(sandbox): harden ownership renewal teardown --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> |

fix(browserless): surface target-page error status in web_fetch_tool (#4239)
* fix(browserless): surface target-page error status in web_fetch_tool Browserless returns HTTP 200 for the render request itself even when the target page responded with a 4xx/5xx or served an anti-bot block page, tagging the real outcome on X-Response-Code/X-Response-Status headers. capture_screenshot/web_capture_tool already reads these headers and surfaces a warning via _target_status_warning. fetch_html only logged them at debug level and web_fetch_tool returned the block/error page's raw text as if it were a normal successful fetch, with no indication anything was wrong. fetch_html now returns a BrowserlessFetchResult carrying the rendered HTML plus the target-status headers (mirroring BrowserlessScreenshotResult), and web_fetch_tool appends the same _target_status_warning used by web_capture_tool when the target page errored. Legitimate 200-target fetches are unaffected. * fix(browserless): keep fetch_html() returning a plain string BrowserlessClient is re-exported from deerflow.community.browserless.__all__, so fetch_html() is public harness API with an established str-only contract: the rendered HTML on success, or an "Error: ..." string on failure. Changing its return type to BrowserlessFetchResult broke that contract for any caller that treats the result as a string (.lower(), concatenation, passing to a parser), even when the fetch itself succeeded. fetch_html() is now a thin wrapper that always unwraps back to the original str contract. The richer, status-aware result (needed to tell a genuine 200 apart from a render-succeeded-but-target-errored response) moves to a new fetch_html_with_status() method, which web_fetch_tool now calls instead so it keeps surfacing the target-page-error warning. Tests: retarget the tool-level mocks onto fetch_html_with_status, add a direct regression asserting fetch_html() returns str on success - including when the target page itself errored under a 200 render response - and keep the status-aware coverage on the new method. |

fix(firecrawl): align tools with installed firecrawl-py v2 SDK surface (#4151)
Replace FirecrawlApp with Firecrawl (v2 unified client) so the map/crawl/interact/extract tools target methods that actually exist: - map_url -> map (with sitemap kwarg instead of ignore_sitemap) - crawl_url -> crawl (keyword args instead of nested params dict) - interact -> scrape+actions (structured action dicts, not NL string) The installed firecrawl-py==4.23.0 has no map_url/crawl_url methods and interact(job_id, code=) does not accept url/actions params. All three tools previously deterministically returned Error:... before making a valid request. Also drop unused Optional import (ruff UP045). Co-authored-by: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(sandbox): the sandbox provisioner api exposes endpoints need to check API KEY (#4116)
* fix: V-001 security vulnerability Automated security fix generated by OrbisAI Security * fix(sandbox): wire provisioner API key through backend client and config RemoteSandboxBackend now accepts an api_key parameter and sends it as X-API-Key on all five provisioner HTTP calls (list, create, destroy, is_alive, discover). AioSandboxProvider reads provisioner_api_key from SandboxConfig and forwards it at construction time. SandboxConfig formally declares the field; config.example.yaml documents it under Option 4; docker-compose-dev.yaml threads PROVISIONER_API_KEY into both the provisioner and gateway containers so a single .env entry covers both sides. Tests: monkeypatch PROVISIONER_API_KEY and send X-API-Key headers in the five parametrized threading tests (previously 401-failing); new test_auth_middleware asserts /health is open, /api/* rejects no-header and wrong-key with 401, and accepts the correct key. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(provisioner): correct fail-closed auth docs and fix test mock signatures The first round of PR #4116 fixes left four blocking issues: - Mock signatures in test_remote_sandbox_backend.py (17) and test_aio_sandbox_provider.py (2) didn't accept the new headers= kwarg, causing TypeError on every provisioner HTTP call test. - sandbox_config.py and config.example.yaml described the auth as optional ("leave unset to disable") but the middleware is fail-closed: an unset PROVISIONER_API_KEY causes 401 on every /api/* request. - .env.example had no PROVISIONER_API_KEY entry, leaving users with an empty value and silent 401s. - No test covered the PROVISIONER_API_KEY="" fail-closed path. Fix all four: add headers=None to all mock signatures, correct the field description and example comment to state that both sides must have the same key set, add PROVISIONER_API_KEY to .env.example with generation guidance, add test_auth_middleware_unset_key, and add a logger.warning on auth rejection for observability. Return the full-resolution image URL from image_search (#3990)
`image_search` set both `image_url` and `thumbnail_url` to the DDGS result's `thumbnail` field, so the tool never returned the full-resolution image even though its docstring/usage_hint promise reference-quality images (and a result with no `thumbnail` returned an empty `image_url`). DDGS `.images()` exposes the full-res source under the separate `image` key — read that for `image_url`, matching the serper/brave providers which keep image vs thumbnail distinct. Adds a regression test. |

perf(boxlite): add benchmark-driven warm-pool reclaim tuning (#4001)
* bench: add provider-agnostic sandbox benchmark with BoxLite warm pool results - scripts/bench_sandbox_provider.py: CLI for measuring acquire/run/release across providers, scenarios, workloads, and concurrency levels - scripts/summarize_bench.py: JSONL aggregation with p50/p95/p99 tables - bench_results.jsonl: 110 turns across 7 scenarios on real BoxLite 0.9.7 Key findings: cold acquire: ~860ms warm reclaim: ~14ms (60x speedup) release: ~0ms warm_hit_rate: 95% (warm_same_thread) * perf(boxlite): skip health check for recently-released warm pool boxes Boxes released within health_check_skip_seconds (default 5.0s) are promoted directly without the ~14ms echo-ok round-trip. A VM alive seconds ago is overwhelmingly likely to still be alive. Add sandbox.health_check_skip_seconds config option. Set to 0 to always health-check (old behaviour). Benchmark (warm_same_thread, noop, 20 iters): acquire p50: 14.9ms → 0.0ms total p50: 29.9ms → 14.0ms * chore: move benchmark scripts into backend/scripts/benchmark/ * fix: address BoxLite benchmark review findings * fix(boxlite): only skip warm reclaim checks for released boxes * fix(benchmark): keep BoxLite shim workaround off the event loop * fix(boxlite): invalidate dead boxes from command path * test(boxlite): cover skip window and invalidation edge cases * fix(boxlite): treat sandbox-has-been-closed as terminal in _exec * fix(boxlite): harden warm-pool reclaim and benchmark accounting * fix(boxlite): validate warm-pool reclaims by default * fix(config): expose boxlite health-check skip setting * fix(boxlite): tighten failure classification and benchmark workaround * Update config_version to 21 in values.yaml --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> |

* feat: add boxlite SDK as harness dependency * test: add fake SimpleBox fixtures for BoxLite warm pool tests * feat: add deterministic sandbox_id and warm pool fields to BoxliteProvider * feat: pass deterministic sandbox_id to SimpleBox name * feat: warm pool lifecycle — park on release, reclaim on acquire - release(): parks VMs in _warm_pool with timestamp instead of closing - _reclaim_warm_pool(): health checks warm boxes via echo ok - acquire(): tries warm pool reclaim before creating new boxes - Deterministic sandbox_id ensures thread isolation * feat(boxlite): idle reaper, replica enforcement, warm-pool shutdown/reset - Task 6: idle reaper daemon thread destroys expired warm-pool boxes - Task 7: replica enforcement evicts oldest warm-pool box when at capacity - Task 8: shutdown() stops idle checker first, destroys all boxes (active+warm); reset() clears warm pool Tests: 17 passed (4 new: idle reaper, replica enforcement, shutdown, reset) * fix(boxlite): harden warm pool lifecycle races * docs(boxlite): document warm pool configuration * fix(sandbox): log warning when evicting oldest warm box is failed Co-authored-by: Copilot Autofix powered by AI <175728472+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(boxlite): stop provider lifecycle on reset * fix(boxlite): make runtime an optional dependency * test(boxlite): remove unused warm pool lookup * docs(boxlite): clarify optional runtime support * refactor: extract shared WarmPoolLifecycleMixin for sandbox warm-pool lifecycle Introduce deerflow.community.warm_pool_lifecycle.WarmPoolLifecycleMixin owning idle-checker loop, warm-pool expiry, oldest-warm eviction, replica counting, and soft-cap logging. Move AioSandboxProvider and BoxliteProvider onto the mixin; keep AIO active-idle cleanup local and delegate only warm-pool expiry to the shared helper. BoxliteProvider also gains: - Prefixed box names (deer-flow-boxlite-*) for startup orphan reconciliation - _reconcile_orphans() adopting surviving boxes from a prior process - Pinned timeout forwarding: command timeout now bounds both BoxLite SDK exec(timeout=...) and the loop bridge .result(timeout) - reset() reworked as lightweight registry clear (boxes -> warm pool, no close, no idle-reaper stop, no loop close) so reset_sandbox_provider() config switches are safe; shutdown() remains the teardown path Backward-compatible: AIO DEFAULT_IDLE_TIMEOUT/DEFAULT_REPLICAS/ IDLE_CHECK_INTERVAL stay importable; Boxlite IDLE_CHECK_INTERVAL stays monkeypatchable. --------- Co-authored-by: Copilot Autofix powered by AI <175728472+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(sandbox): add BoxLite micro-VM sandbox provider (scaffold) (#3940)
* feat(sandbox): add BoxLite micro-VM sandbox provider (scaffold) Community SandboxProvider backed by BoxLite, a daemonless OCI-native micro-VM runtime. execute_command is wired end to end through a private asyncio loop that bridges BoxLite's async SDK to DeerFlow's sync Sandbox contract; the remaining Sandbox methods are stubbed pending approach review. Opt-in via sandbox.use (pip install boxlite); a packaged [boxlite] extra will follow. Existing providers are unchanged. Refs #3936, #3439, #3213 * feat(sandbox): implement full Sandbox contract for BoxLite backend Rename the community BoxLite integration to read as a compute backend rather than "a sandbox": module boxlite_sandbox -> boxlite, BoxliteSandboxProvider -> BoxliteProvider, BoxliteSandbox -> BoxliteBox. Implement the file surface DeerFlow's default tool path assumes -- read_file, write_file, update_file, download_file, list_dir, glob, grep -- as shell commands inside the box (cat/find/grep/chunked base64), reusing deerflow.sandbox.search and busybox-portable flags. Removes the reachable NotImplementedError regression once the provider is selected. download_file keeps the /mnt/user-data prefix + traversal guards; the provider materialises those virtual dirs on box start. Refs #3936, #3940 * fix(sandbox): resolve CI + review findings on BoxLite backend - provider: import DEFAULT_SKILLS_CONTAINER_PATH instead of the "/mnt/skills" literal (backend-unit-tests guard), and drop the redundant env-var re-resolution -- AppConfig.resolve_env_variables already resolves $VARS and raises on missing. - box: grep now passes the raw pattern to grep (-F/-E); it previously handed the re.escape'd pattern to grep -F, so a literal search of e.g. foo.bar looked for foo\.bar and never matched. - box: execute_command now calls _validate_extra_env(env), matching the Sandbox POSIX env-key contract that the local/e2b/aio sandboxes enforce. - add tests/test_boxlite_provider.py (CI-safe, no BoxLite): actionable ImportError on the lazy import, clean acquire-failure + shutdown, the traversal / download-prefix guards, and env-key rejection. feat(channels): add GitHub as a webhook-driven channel (#3754)
* feat(channels): add GitHub event-driven agents (#3754) Add a webhook-driven GitHub channel with fail-closed webhook routing, deterministic per-agent PR/issue threads, mention-gated trigger fan-out, GitHub App token injection for sandboxed gh/git commands, and backend/AGENTS.md documentation. * fix(llm-middleware): classify bare IndexError as transient Upstream chat providers occasionally return 200 OK with an empty generations list (observed against Volces "coding" on ark.cn-beijing.volces.com). When that happens, langchain_core.language_models.chat_models.ainvoke raises ``IndexError: list index out of range`` at ``llm_result.generations[0][0].message`` and kills the run. Treat a bare IndexError reaching the middleware as a transient upstream-payload glitch and route it through the existing retry/backoff path instead of failing the whole agent run. The retry budget and backoff schedule are unchanged. Adds three regression tests covering the classifier and both the recover-on-retry and exhausted-retries paths. * fix(runtime): ignore stale LLM fallback markers from prior runs When a run on a thread ends with the LLM-error-handling middleware emitting a `deerflow_error_fallback`-marked AIMessage (e.g. after the IndexError empty-generations classification fix lands), that message is persisted to the thread's checkpoint as part of the messages channel. LangGraph replays the full message history in `stream_mode="values"` chunks, so every subsequent run on the same thread re-streams the stale fallback marker — and the worker's chunk scanner faithfully picks it up, flipping `RunStatus.success` to `RunStatus.error` for runs that themselves had no LLM failure at all. Snapshot the set of pre-existing message ids from the pre-run checkpoint and thread it through `_extract_llm_error_fallback_message` / `_try_extract_from_message` as a filter. Markers on history messages are ignored; markers on fresh messages produced during this run still trip the error path. Falls back to an empty set when the checkpointer is absent or the snapshot can't be captured, preserving the prior behavior on first-run / no-state paths. Adds unit tests for the new filter (helper-level and `_collect_pre_existing_message_ids`) plus an integration test exercising the full `run_agent` path with a stale history checkpointer. * fix(channels): make github channel fire-and-forget to avoid httpx.ReadTimeout on long runs GitHub agent runs (clone -> edit -> test -> push -> PR) routinely exceed the langgraph_sdk default 300s read deadline. The manager's runs.wait call kept an HTTP stream open for the entire run lifetime, so the long run blew up with httpx.ReadTimeout and the outer except branch then released the dedupe key and emitted a false 'internal error' outbound. The GitHub channel's outbound send is log-only by design: agents post to the issue/PR via the gh CLI in the sandbox when they choose to comment or create a PR. There is nothing for the manager to ferry back, so the long-poll was pure overhead. This change adds ChannelRunPolicy.fire_and_forget (default False) and sets it True for the github channel. When fire_and_forget is True, _handle_chat dispatches via client.runs.create (short POST, returns once the run is pending) instead of client.runs.wait, and skips the response-extraction + outbound-publish block. ConflictError on a busy thread still trips the standard THREAD_BUSY_MESSAGE path so behavior on the busy case is preserved for any future non-github fire-and-forget channel. Other (non-github) channels are unchanged: their policy defaults fire_and_forget=False and they continue to dispatch via runs.wait. Adds 6 regression tests in tests/test_channels.py::TestGithubFireAndForget: - Default ChannelRunPolicy.fire_and_forget is False. - The github policy registers fire_and_forget=True. - github inbound calls runs.create, not runs.wait, with the right kwargs. - github inbound publishes no outbound on success. - ConflictError from runs.create still emits THREAD_BUSY_MESSAGE. - Non-github channels (slack) still dispatch via runs.wait. * test(lead-agent): accept user_id kwarg in skill-policy test stubs The two GitHub-channel tests added in #3754 stubbed _load_enabled_skills_for_tool_policy with a lambda that only accepted `available_skills` and `app_config`, but the real function (and its call site in agent.py) also passes `user_id`. This raised TypeError on every run, failing backend-unit-tests. Add `user_id=None` to match the three sibling stubs in the same file. * refactor(gateway): disambiguate context-key set names The two frozensets _INTERNAL_ONLY_CONTEXT_KEYS and _CONTEXT_ONLY_KEYS shared a confusable "CONTEXT_ONLY" token in different orders, and the first broke the _CONTEXT_<X>_KEYS pattern of its sibling _CONTEXT_CONFIGURABLE_KEYS. Rename to make the distinct axes explicit: _CONTEXT_INTERNAL_CALLER_KEYS - WHO: internal callers (scheduler) only _CONTEXT_RUNTIME_ONLY_KEYS - WHERE: runtime context only, never configurable Pure rename, no behavior change. |

fix(sandbox): fail fast when the AIO image lacks bash.exec for env injection (#3922)
Images older than all-in-one-sandbox 1.9.x have no /v1/bash/* routes, so every env-bearing command (skills declaring required-secrets) surfaced a raw nginx 404 that the model kept retrying. Detect the 404, remember the capability gap per sandbox instance, and return an actionable error that names the minimum image version and the sandbox.image remediation. No fallback through the legacy shell path on purpose: /v1/shell/exec has no env parameter, and every workaround puts the secret values back into the command string or on disk — the exact leak surfaces the request-scoped secrets design closed. feat(skills): request-scoped secrets for skills (closes #3861) (#3871)
* feat(sandbox): per-call env injection + platform-secret scrubbing for skills Add an env parameter to Sandbox.execute_command (abstract + local + AIO) so request-scoped secrets can be injected into skill subprocesses, and scrub platform credentials (*KEY*/*SECRET*/*TOKEN*/*PASSWORD*/*CREDENTIAL*) from the inherited environment by default so scoped injection is not security theatre. LocalSandbox always passes an explicit scrubbed env; AioSandbox routes env-bearing commands through bash.exec(env=) on a fresh session and leaves the legacy persistent-shell path unchanged. Part of #3861. BEHAVIOR CHANGE: execute_command no longer inherits the full os.environ; Windows encoding tests updated to assert the scrubbed dict. * feat(skills): parse required-secrets frontmatter declaration Add SecretRequirement and Skill.required_secrets, and parse the required-secrets SKILL.md frontmatter field (a string list or {name, optional} mappings), dropping malformed entries with a warning so one bad declaration does not invalidate the skill. The declared name is both the context.secrets key and the env var injected at activation. Part of #3861. * feat(runtime): request-scoped secret carrier (context.secrets) Add SECRETS_CONTEXT_KEY + extract_request_secrets, centralising the context.secrets carrier contract. The existing context passthrough (build_run_config -> _build_runtime_context) already carries the sub-key to runtime.context without mirroring it into configurable; characterization tests lock that behaviour. Part of #3861. * feat(skills): inject declared secrets at slash-activation into bash env Binding point A: when a skill is slash-activated, SkillActivationMiddleware resolves its declared required-secrets against the request's context.secrets and writes the per-run injection set to runtime.context. The bash tool forwards that set to execute_command(env=). A skill cannot harvest a host platform credential (is_host_platform_secret guard, cf. GHSA-rhgp-j443-p4rf), and injected values are redacted from bash output (mask_secret_values) so an echoed secret never re-enters the prompt/trace. Part of #3861. * test(skills): lock the five secret leak surfaces + add trace redaction helper Regression tests assert the secret value is absent from all five surfaces: prompt (activation message), checkpoint (graph state vs context separation), audit (journal records names only), trace (metadata builder never copies context; never mirrored to configurable), and stdout (mask_secret_values). Add redact_secret_context_keys as a defensive helper for any context serialization. Part of #3861. * docs(backend): document request-scoped secrets for skills Add Request-Scoped Secrets subsection (Skills) + env policy note (Sandbox) and the execute_command(env=) signature change, per the doc-sync policy. Part of #3861. * fix(skills): close gaps found by end-to-end verification of request-scoped secrets Real-gateway e2e + independent review of #3861 surfaced three defects, now fixed: 1. Slash activation never fired in the live chain. InputSanitizationMiddleware wraps user input in BEGIN/END markers before SkillActivationMiddleware sees it, and the original text was only preserved when an upload or IM channel set it. For a plain text message the slash command became undetectable, so no secret was ever resolved. Fix: the sanitizer now setdefaults the pre-wrap text into ORIGINAL_USER_CONTENT_KEY (additive; sanitization behaviour unchanged), so slash activation works for all messages. Pre-existing latent bug surfaced here. 2. The raw request config (with context.secrets) was persisted to runs.kwargs_json and echoed by the run API (RunResponse.kwargs). Fix: redact_config_secrets() strips secret-bearing context keys from the persisted/echoed copy in start_run; the live config that drives the run keeps them. build_run_config now also sets configurable.thread_id on the context path (the checkpointer requires it). 3. Connection-string credentials (DATABASE_URL, REDIS_URL, SENTRY_DSN, GH_PAT, ...) were not scrubbed from the inherited sandbox env. Fix: env_policy adds a *DSN* pattern plus an explicit connection-string denylist (no blanket *URL* — benign service URLs stay readable). Verified end-to-end via a real gateway run (real LLM + skill activation + bash): the secret reaches the sandbox subprocess and appears in NONE of prompt, trace, checkpoint, audit, stdout, runs.kwargs_json, or the run API. Part of #3861. * docs(backend): document the env scrub, persistence redaction, and sanitizer interaction Sync the Request-Scoped Secrets section with the verification-driven fixes: inherited-env scrub (incl. connection-string denylist), run-record/run-API redaction as the 6th sealed leak surface, and the sanitizer preserving original content so slash activation fires. Part of #3861. * fix(skills): inject caller secret over scrubbed host value; drop redundant host-name guard A real-world demo (a skill calling a third-party cloud API with a request-scoped key) exposed that the is_host_platform_secret guard was both wrong and harmful: it refused to inject a caller-supplied secret whenever a same-named variable existed in the Gateway env — which is exactly the #3861 use case (a per-user key overriding a shared platform key). The guard was also redundant: build_sandbox_env already scrubs secret-looking names from the inherited env before injection, so a skill can never read a host credential — it only ever receives the caller's value. Remove the guard; the injected (caller) value simply wins over the scrubbed host value. Verified end-to-end: the agent called the real cloud API successfully with the caller's key, the host's same-named key was scrubbed and never used, and the caller's key leaked to none of the surfaces. Part of #3861. * fix(skills): address review on request-scoped secrets (#3861) Review fixes from PR #3871: - E2BSandbox.execute_command now accepts env/timeout and routes them to commands.run(envs=, timeout=). The bash tool passes env= unconditionally, so the prior signature (command only) raised TypeError on every e2b bash call and broke e2b deployments entirely. env=None stays backward-compatible. - SkillActivationMiddleware clears the active-secret set before resolving each activation, so a later skill in the same run never inherits an earlier skill's injection set (the #3861 contract: a skill only receives what the caller supplied AND that skill declared). - AioSandbox env path uses a dedicated _DEFAULT_HARD_TIMEOUT — bash.exec exposes no idle/no-change timeout, so the prior reuse of the legacy idle constant conflated wall-clock vs idle semantics. The env path also retries on the ErrorObservation signature now, sharing the legacy persistent-shell recovery contract. - mask_secret_values skips values below a minimum length floor so a short declared secret (e.g. "42") cannot shred unrelated bytes (exit codes, timestamps, sizes) of tool output. The secret is still injected into the subprocess; only the output mask skips it. session_id reuse on the env path is intentionally NOT added: a shared session could let request-scoped secrets ride the session env into later commands, which the SDK does not contractually forbid. The fresh-session choice matches the LocalSandbox model (each call is a fresh subprocess); the trade-off (consecutive env-bearing calls do not share cwd/venv/exports) is documented on _execute_with_env. |

feat(community): add Crawl4AI web_fetch provider (#3821)
* feat(community): add Crawl4AI web_fetch provider
Crawl4AI is a self-hosted, no-API-key web fetcher: it runs headless
Chromium and returns server-cleaned "fit" markdown directly via its
POST /md endpoint, so no client-side readability extraction is needed.
It sits alongside the existing self-hosted Browserless provider.
- deerflow.community.crawl4ai: async Crawl4AiClient + web_fetch_tool
(reads base_url/timeout_s/token/filter from config; "Error:" string
convention; 4096-char cap), mirroring the browserless provider
- tests: 17 unit cases (success, HTTP error, success:false, empty,
timeout, request error, token header, truncation, config reads)
- config.example.yaml: commented web_fetch example
- doctor: register as a no-key (free) web_fetch provider
- setup wizard: add to WEB_FETCH_PROVIDERS (no API key)
- docs: README, CONTRIBUTING, CONFIGURATION, AGENTS provider lists
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(community): address Crawl4AI provider review feedback
- timeout: robust _coerce_timeout (bool / non-numeric -> default) mirroring
jina, so 'timeout: off' no longer becomes 0.0 and times out every request
- read web_fetch config once per invocation and pass values into the client,
so a concurrent hot-reload can't split base_url from filter
- rename config key timeout_s -> timeout to match jina/infoquest (the
default providers); update config.example.yaml + setup wizard
- validate + normalize the markdown filter against {fit,raw,bm25,llm};
unknown values fall back to fit with a warning instead of an opaque HTTP 400
- client: a non-JSON 200 body (reverse proxy / auth wall) now reports the
content-type + snippet instead of a generic JSONDecodeError
- tests: 22 cases (added non-JSON-200, _coerce_timeout, _coerce_filter,
invalid-filter fallback, read-config-once)

feat(community): add Browserless web_capture screenshot tool (#3881)
* feat(community): add Browserless web_capture screenshot tool Add a web_capture tool that renders a page via Browserless /screenshot and presents it through the artifact system, alongside the existing Browserless web_fetch provider. Hardening: - SSRF guard: reject URLs resolving to private/loopback/link-local (incl. the 169.254.169.254 cloud-metadata endpoint)/reserved/multicast/unspecified addresses; opt out via allow_private_addresses for internal targets. - Surface a warning when Browserless renders a target page that itself responded with a non-2xx/3xx status (X-Response-Code), so an error/anti-bot page is not mistaken for valid visual evidence. - Dedupe colliding output filenames instead of silently overwriting prior captures. Docs: comment out token: $BROWSERLESS_TOKEN in tool examples (an unset $VAR fails AppConfig startup) and document allow_private_addresses. * fix(community): format web_capture guard + document local Browserless startup Address PR #3881 review: fix the lint-backend failure (ruff format on browserless/tools.py) and add local Browserless startup instructions to CONFIGURATION.md so reviewers can run the service to try web_fetch/web_capture. |

feat(community): add GroundRoute web search + fetch engine (#3675)
* feat(groundroute): add GroundRoute community web_search + web_fetch tools
GroundRoute is a meta search layer over six engines (Serper, Brave, Exa,
Tavily, Firecrawl, Perplexity) with price-based routing and failover. This
adds a self-contained community engine module (httpx only, no new required
deps) mirroring community/brave + community/tavily:
- web_search: POST /v1/search, normalize to {title,url,snippet,source_engine}.
- web_fetch: fetch a URL via mode=page.
- unit tests covering normalization, auth, clamping, and graceful errors.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(groundroute): register GroundRoute search + fetch in wizard and config
Add GroundRoute to the setup wizard provider lists (SEARCH_PROVIDERS +
WEB_FETCH_PROVIDERS) and as commented web_search + web_fetch examples in
config.example.yaml, mirroring tavily/serper/brave so SEARCH_API can select it.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* style(groundroute): apply repo ruff format (line-length 240)
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(groundroute): add GroundRoute to tools docs and config reference
Adds GroundRoute as a web_search and web_fetch option in the en + zh
tools.mdx pages (new tab alongside Tavily/Brave/Exa/etc.) and documents
GROUNDROUTE_API_KEY in CONFIGURATION.md.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(groundroute): define empty groundroute extra for clean install
The docs install line 'uv add deerflow-harness[groundroute]' (mirroring the
tavily/exa/firecrawl pattern) referenced an undefined extra, which uv accepts
but warns about. GroundRoute needs no extra packages (httpx is a core dep), so
declare an empty 'groundroute' extra in deerflow-harness optional-dependencies
so the documented command resolves without a warning.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(groundroute): per-tool api key + honor caller max_results (review)
Address maintainer review on PR #3675:
- _get_api_key(tool_name): web_fetch now reads the web_fetch config block's key
instead of always web_search, so a flow that pairs GroundRoute fetch with a
different search engine authenticates correctly. Mirrors serper/exa/firecrawl.
- web_search honors a caller-supplied max_results (sentinel default None),
falling back to the configured value only when omitted, so the documented
parameter is no longer silently discarded.
- warn-once is now keyed per tool. Tests cover both fixes (web_fetch key,
agent max_results honored).

feat(community): add Serper Google Images provider for image_search (#3575)
* feat(community): add Serper Google Images provider for image_search Add a Serper-backed `image_search` tool alongside the existing Serper `web_search` provider, so users with a SERPER_API_KEY can pull Google Images results as reference images for downstream image generation. - Share request/response handling between web_search and image_search via `_serper_post` / `_response_items`, with bounded `max_results` (capped at 10) and query normalization. - Add a best-effort SSRF guard (`_safe_public_url`) that rejects non-http(s), localhost and private/non-global IP image URLs; filtered entries are dropped and never consume the result limit. - doctor: flag literal `api_key` values in config as a warning and steer users toward `.env` + `$SERPER_API_KEY`. - Docs/config: document the Serper image_search provider and SERPER_API_KEY, and discourage committing literal keys to config.yaml. - Tests: cover the provider end-to-end (100% line coverage on tools.py) and the doctor literal-key warning path. * fix(community): block obfuscated IPv4 literals in Serper image SSRF guard The image_search SSRF guard only rejected dotted-decimal IP literals; encoded forms such as decimal (http://2130706433/), hex (0x7f000001) and octal (0177.0.0.1) raised ValueError in ip_address() and were allowed through, even though many HTTP clients resolve them to private addresses like 127.0.0.1. Add _decode_ipv4() to permissively decode these inet_aton-style encodings and apply the same is_global check; hostnames that do not decode to an IP (e.g. cafe.com) are still treated as hosts and left to fetch-time re-validation. Addresses PR review feedback. Tests cover decimal/hex/octal loopback and private encodings plus non-IP edge cases; tools.py stays at 100% line coverage. * test(community): cover IPv4-mapped IPv6 URL filtering * fix(community): address Serper image search review feedback - Block trailing-dot hostname SSRF bypass (localhost./127.0.0.1.) in _safe_public_url by stripping the FQDN root label before checks. - Keep a filtered image/thumbnail URL empty instead of collapsing onto its counterpart, preserving the high-res/preview contract. - Evaluate the SSRF guard once per field rather than twice. - Treat a null-typed organic/images field as "no results" rather than a malformed payload. - doctor.py: when a config $VAR is unset, fall through to the default env var before reporting it as not set. |

fix(sandbox): create shell session before retrying on a fresh id (#3577)
* fix(sandbox): create shell session before retrying on a fresh id The AIO sandbox recovery path generated a UUID and passed it straight to exec_command(id=...). The sandbox image only auto-creates a session when exec_command is called with *no* id; an exec carrying an unknown id returns HTTP 404 "Session not found". So every ErrorObservation recovery itself 404'd, turning a transient session lapse into an unrecoverable tool error that looped the run up to the LangGraph recursion limit. Explicitly create_session(id=fresh_id) before targeting that id on retry. create_session is idempotent (returns the existing session if the id already exists), so this is safe under the serializing lock. Updated the regression test to assert the retry targets exactly the created session id rather than a fabricated, uncreated one. * fix(sandbox): release the one-shot recovery session after retry The fresh session created on the ErrorObservation recovery path is used for exactly one command -- the next execute_command runs with no id and returns to the default session. Under persistent session corruption every command would create another session that is never reused or released, accumulating sessions on the container. Release it best-effort with cleanup_session() in a finally, swallowing any cleanup error so it never masks a successful retry. feat(community): add Brave Search web search tool (#3528)
* feat(community): add Brave Search web search tool Add a community web_search provider backed by the official Brave Search API (https://api.search.brave.com/res/v1/web/search). API key is read from the tool config (inline api_key) or the BRAVE_SEARCH_API_KEY env var. Output schema (title/url/content) matches existing search tools. No new dependencies (uses the existing httpx). Also wires up the setup wizard, doctor health check, config example, and EN/ZH docs. * refactor(community): drop redundant [:count] slice in Brave search The Brave API already caps results via the `count` request param, so client-side slicing was redundant. Tests now simulate the API honoring `count` instead of relying on the slice. Addresses PR review nit. * style(tests): apply ruff format to test_doctor.py Collapse multiline write_text calls onto single lines to satisfy the CI ruff formatter (lint-backend was failing on format --check). |

feat(community): add SearXNG and Browserless web search/fetch tools (#3451)
* feat(community): add SearXNG and Browserless web search/fetch tools - SearXNG web_search: privacy-focused meta search engine integration with configurable base_url via config.yaml tool settings - Browserless web_fetch: headless browser page fetching with readability article extraction - Both tools are fully configurable through tool config section - No external API keys required for basic operation * fix: address PR review feedback and add unit tests - Guard config.model_extra against None values (review #1, #2) - Coerce max_results to int when reading from config (review #2) - Fix web_fetch_tool to use direct HTTP fetch instead of reusing the web_search client config (review #3) - Fix misleading docstring for SearxngClient.fetch (review #4) - Remove unused target_url variable to pass Ruff lint (review #5) - Normalize bool config values with _normalize_bool helper to handle env-resolved string values correctly (review #6) - Add unit tests for both SearXNG and Browserless client classes and their tool functions with mocked httpx (review #7, #8) * fix: convert to async httpx to avoid blocking I/O on event loop - Replace httpx.Client with httpx.AsyncClient in both client classes - Convert tool functions to async def - Wrap readability_extractor calls in asyncio.to_thread() - Update all tests to use pytest.mark.asyncio and async mocks - Fix import sorting to pass Ruff lint * fix(browserless): replace deprecated waitUntil with waitForEvent The Browserless API has deprecated the waitUntil parameter. Replace with waitForEvent which accepts values like 'networkidle'. Default is empty (no wait), configurable via config.yaml. * fix(browserless): remove deprecated gotoTimeout and bestAttempt params The Browserless /content API does not accept gotoTimeout or bestAttempt as top-level payload keys. These were being sent unconditionally, causing 400 Bad Request errors on current Browserless versions. Changes: - Remove goto_timeout_ms parameter and 'gotoTimeout' from payload - Remove best_attempt parameter and 'bestAttempt' from payload - Remove _normalize_bool helper (no longer needed) - Remove goto_timeout_ms and best_attempt config reading in tools.py - Add tests for waitForSelector and reject params - Verify no deprecated params are sent in test_fetch_html_success * refactor(searxng): remove web_fetch_tool, decouple from web_search config SearXNG is a search engine — it should only provide web_search_tool. The web_fetch responsibility belongs to Browserless (headless Chrome) or Jina AI, not SearXNG. Changes: - Remove web_fetch_tool from SearXNG tools.py and __init__.py - Remove SearxngClient.fetch() method (no longer needed) - Remove unused asyncio/readability imports from SearXNG tools.py - Add test for max_results string-to-int coercion from config - Add test for search with categories parameter - Add test for httpx.RequestError handling - Apply ruff format fixes to browserless_client.py and test files |

[codex] Fix stale AIO sandbox cache reuse (#3494)
* Fix stale AIO sandbox cache reuse * Address AIO sandbox review feedback * Distinguish sandbox health check failures * Keep local discovery recoverable when the runtime check fails LocalContainerBackend.discover() shares _is_container_running, which now raises on transient daemon errors instead of returning False. Discovery has no exception handling in _discover_or_create_with_lock(_async), so a brief Docker hiccup turned a recoverable "could not verify, create instead" into a hard acquire failure. Catch the check failure inside discover() and return None so an unverifiable container is simply not adopted, restoring the pre-change fall-through while keeping raise-on-unknown semantics protecting the destroy path. Reported by fancy-agent on PR #3494. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Narrow the not-found match in container inspect error handling A bare "not found" substring also matches transient failures like "command not found" or "context not found", which would misclassify a check error as "container definitely gone" and bypass the raise-on-unknown contract. Keep Docker's specific "No such object"/"No such container" phrases, and only trust a generic "not found" (Apple Container) when the message names the inspected container or refers to a container/object. fix(web_fetch): support proxy for Jina reader in restricted networks (#3418) (#3430)
* fix(web_fetch): support proxy for Jina reader in restricted networks The web_fetch tool built a bare httpx.AsyncClient() with no proxy awareness, so users behind a corporate proxy / in Docker / WSL could not reach https://r.jina.ai and web_fetch timed out. - Add optional `proxy` / `trust_env` params to JinaClient.crawl and wire them from the `web_fetch` tool config (with type coercion for YAML string values). - Pass internal service hostnames through NO_PROXY in both compose files so proxy env inherited via env_file does not break in-cluster calls (gateway/provisioner/etc). - Load proxy vars from .env into the shell in scripts/docker.sh so the NO_PROXY interpolation can merge user-provided values on `make` path. - Document proxy/trust_env options in config.example.yaml. fix(sandbox): close AioSandbox HTTP client during provider teardown (#2872) (#3245)
* fix(sandbox): close AioSandbox HTTP client during provider teardown (#2872) AioSandbox allocates a host-side agent_sandbox client (wrapping an httpx.Client) in __init__, but AioSandboxProvider.release/destroy/shutdown only popped provider state and tore down the backend container — the client/transport owned by each cached AioSandbox was never explicitly closed, accumulating unreclaimed sockets in long-running services. - Add AioSandbox.close(): best-effort, idempotent close of the wrapped httpx_client (falls back to top-level client.close()); errors are logged but never raised so backend cleanup is never blocked. - AioSandboxProvider.release()/destroy() now close the cached AioSandbox before dropping it; shutdown() inherits this via destroy(). * fix(sandbox): close the real httpx.Client owned by AioSandbox (#2872) The previous close() only walked one level (wrapper.httpx_client), which resolves to the Fern-generated HttpClient wrapper that has no close(). The real socket-owning httpx.Client lives one level deeper at _client_wrapper.httpx_client.httpx_client, so the close path never fired and host-side sockets still leaked. Resolve the real httpx.Client with graceful degradation; clear self._client under the lock for use-after-close and concurrent double-close safety; mark provider release()/destroy() try/except as defense-in-depth; rewrite TestClose against the real nested structure to lock down the original no-op bug. |

feat(community): add Serper web search provider (#2630)
* feat(community): add Serper web search provider Add a new community search provider backed by the Serper Google Search API (https://serper.dev). Serper returns real-time Google results via a simple JSON API and requires only an API key — no extra Python package. Changes: - backend/packages/harness/deerflow/community/serper/__init__.py - backend/packages/harness/deerflow/community/serper/tools.py Implements web_search_tool using httpx (already a project dependency). API key is read from config.yaml `api_key` field or SERPER_API_KEY env var. Follows the same interface / output shape as the existing ddg_search provider. Exposes max_results parameter (default 5) with config override logic. - backend/tests/test_serper_tools.py Unit tests covering API key resolution, config overrides, HTTP errors, empty results, and parameter passing. - config.example.yaml: add commented-out Serper example alongside other providers - .env.example: add SERPER_API_KEY placeholder Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * Fix the lint error * Fix the lint error --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> |

fix(sandbox): pass no_change_timeout to exec_command to prevent 120s premature termination (#2685)
* fix(sandbox): pass no_change_timeout to exec_command to prevent 120s premature termination The agent_sandbox library's shell API defaults no_change_timeout to 120 seconds. When AioSandbox.execute_command() called exec_command() without this parameter, commands producing no output for 120s would return with NO_CHANGE_TIMEOUT status even though the script was still running. Pass no_change_timeout=600 to all exec_command calls (matching the client-level HTTP timeout) so long-running commands are not cut short. Fixes #2668 * test(sandbox): add assertions for no_change_timeout in execute_command and list_dir Agent-Logs-Url: https://github.com/bytedance/deer-flow/sessions/2f37bc72-0826-4443-a6ba-e5b78c22fb5a Co-authored-by: WillemJiang <219644+WillemJiang@users.noreply.github.com> --------- Co-authored-by: copilot-swe-agent[bot] <198982749+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(persistence): per-user filesystem isolation, run-scoped APIs, and state/history simplification (#2153)
* feat(persistence): add unified persistence layer with event store, token tracking, and feedback (#1930) * feat(persistence): add SQLAlchemy 2.0 async ORM scaffold Introduce a unified database configuration (DatabaseConfig) that controls both the LangGraph checkpointer and the DeerFlow application persistence layer from a single `database:` config section. New modules: - deerflow.config.database_config — Pydantic config with memory/sqlite/postgres backends - deerflow.persistence — async engine lifecycle, DeclarativeBase with to_dict mixin, Alembic skeleton - deerflow.runtime.runs.store — RunStore ABC + MemoryRunStore implementation Gateway integration initializes/tears down the persistence engine in the existing langgraph_runtime() context manager. Legacy checkpointer config is preserved for backward compatibility. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(persistence): add RunEventStore ABC + MemoryRunEventStore Phase 2-A prerequisite for event storage: adds the unified run event stream interface (RunEventStore) with an in-memory implementation, RunEventsConfig, gateway integration, and comprehensive tests (27 cases). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(persistence): add ORM models, repositories, DB/JSONL event stores, RunJournal, and API endpoints Phase 2-B: run persistence + event storage + token tracking. - ORM models: RunRow (with token fields), ThreadMetaRow, RunEventRow - RunRepository implements RunStore ABC via SQLAlchemy ORM - ThreadMetaRepository with owner access control - DbRunEventStore with trace content truncation and cursor pagination - JsonlRunEventStore with per-run files and seq recovery from disk - RunJournal (BaseCallbackHandler) captures LLM/tool/lifecycle events, accumulates token usage by caller type, buffers and flushes to store - RunManager now accepts optional RunStore for persistent backing - Worker creates RunJournal, writes human_message, injects callbacks - Gateway deps use factory functions (RunRepository when DB available) - New endpoints: messages, run messages, run events, token-usage - ThreadCreateRequest gains assistant_id field - 92 tests pass (33 new), zero regressions Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(persistence): add user feedback + follow-up run association Phase 2-C: feedback and follow-up tracking. - FeedbackRow ORM model (rating +1/-1, optional message_id, comment) - FeedbackRepository with CRUD, list_by_run/thread, aggregate stats - Feedback API endpoints: create, list, stats, delete - follow_up_to_run_id in RunCreateRequest (explicit or auto-detected from latest successful run on the thread) - Worker writes follow_up_to_run_id into human_message event metadata - Gateway deps: feedback_repo factory + getter - 17 new tests (14 FeedbackRepository + 3 follow-up association) - 109 total tests pass, zero regressions Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * test+config: comprehensive Phase 2 test coverage + deprecate checkpointer config - config.example.yaml: deprecate standalone checkpointer section, activate unified database:sqlite as default (drives both checkpointer + app data) - New: test_thread_meta_repo.py (14 tests) — full ThreadMetaRepository coverage including check_access owner logic, list_by_owner pagination - Extended test_run_repository.py (+4 tests) — completion preserves fields, list ordering desc, limit, owner_none returns all - Extended test_run_journal.py (+8 tests) — on_chain_error, track_tokens=false, middleware no ai_message, unknown caller tokens, convenience fields, tool_error, non-summarization custom event - Extended test_run_event_store.py (+7 tests) — DB batch seq continuity, make_run_event_store factory (memory/db/jsonl/fallback/unknown) - Extended test_phase2b_integration.py (+4 tests) — create_or_reject persists, follow-up metadata, summarization in history, full DB-backed lifecycle - Fixed DB integration test to use proper fake objects (not MagicMock) for JSON-serializable metadata - 157 total Phase 2 tests pass, zero regressions Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * config: move default sqlite_dir to .deer-flow/data Keep SQLite databases alongside other DeerFlow-managed data (threads, memory) under the .deer-flow/ directory instead of a top-level ./data folder. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(persistence): remove UTFJSON, use engine-level json_serializer + datetime.now() - Replace custom UTFJSON type with standard sqlalchemy.JSON in all ORM models. Add json_serializer=json.dumps(ensure_ascii=False) to all create_async_engine calls so non-ASCII text (Chinese etc.) is stored as-is in both SQLite and Postgres. - Change ORM datetime defaults from datetime.now(UTC) to datetime.now(), remove UTC imports. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(gateway): simplify deps.py with getter factory + inline repos - Replace 6 identical getter functions with _require() factory. - Inline 3 _make_*_repo() factories into langgraph_runtime(), call get_session_factory() once instead of 3 times. - Add thread_meta upsert in start_run (services.py). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(docker): add UV_EXTRAS build arg for optional dependencies Support installing optional dependency groups (e.g. postgres) at Docker build time via UV_EXTRAS build arg: UV_EXTRAS=postgres docker compose build Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(journal): fix flush, token tracking, and consolidate tests RunJournal fixes: - _flush_sync: retain events in buffer when no event loop instead of dropping them; worker's finally block flushes via async flush(). - on_llm_end: add tool_calls filter and caller=="lead_agent" guard for ai_message events; mark message IDs for dedup with record_llm_usage. - worker.py: persist completion data (tokens, message count) to RunStore in finally block. Model factory: - Auto-inject stream_usage=True for BaseChatOpenAI subclasses with custom api_base, so usage_metadata is populated in streaming responses. Test consolidation: - Delete test_phase2b_integration.py (redundant with existing tests). - Move DB-backed lifecycle test into test_run_journal.py. - Add tests for stream_usage injection in test_model_factory.py. - Clean up executor/task_tool dead journal references. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): widen content type to str|dict in all store backends Allow event content to be a dict (for structured OpenAI-format messages) in addition to plain strings. Dict values are JSON-serialized for the DB backend and deserialized on read; memory and JSONL backends handle dicts natively. Trace truncation now serializes dicts to JSON before measuring. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(events): use metadata flag instead of heuristic for dict content detection Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(converters): add LangChain-to-OpenAI message format converters Pure functions langchain_to_openai_message, langchain_to_openai_completion, langchain_messages_to_openai, and _infer_finish_reason for converting LangChain BaseMessage objects to OpenAI Chat Completions format, used by RunJournal for event storage. 15 unit tests added. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(converters): handle empty list content as null, clean up test Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): human_message content uses OpenAI user message format Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): ai_message uses OpenAI format, add ai_tool_call message event - ai_message content now uses {"role": "assistant", "content": "..."} format - New ai_tool_call message event emitted when lead_agent LLM responds with tool_calls - ai_tool_call uses langchain_to_openai_message converter for consistent format - Both events include finish_reason in metadata ("stop" or "tool_calls") Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): add tool_result message event with OpenAI tool message format Cache tool_call_id from on_tool_start keyed by run_id as fallback for on_tool_end, then emit a tool_result message event (role=tool, tool_call_id, content) after each successful tool completion. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): summary content uses OpenAI system message format Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): replace llm_start/llm_end with llm_request/llm_response in OpenAI format Add on_chat_model_start to capture structured prompt messages as llm_request events. Replace llm_end trace events with llm_response using OpenAI Chat Completions format. Track llm_call_index to pair request/response events. Add get_run_context() in deps.py to build the base context from app.state singletons. start_run() uses dataclasses.replace() to enrich per-run fields before passing ctx to run_agent. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(gateway): move sanitize_log_param to app/gateway/utils.py Extract the log-injection sanitizer from routers/threads.py into a shared utils module and rename to sanitize_log_param (public API). Eliminates the reverse service → router import in services.py. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * perf: use SQL aggregation for feedback stats and thread token usage Replace Python-side counting in FeedbackRepository.aggregate_by_run with a single SELECT COUNT/SUM query. Add RunStore.aggregate_tokens_by_thread abstract method with SQL GROUP BY implementation in RunRepository and Python fallback in MemoryRunStore. Simplify the thread_token_usage endpoint to delegate to the new method, eliminating the limit=10000 truncation risk. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs: annotate DbRunEventStore.put() as low-frequency path Add docstring clarifying that put() opens a per-call transaction with FOR UPDATE and should only be used for infrequent writes (currently just the initial human_message event). High-throughput callers should use put_batch() instead. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(threads): fall back to Store search when ThreadMetaRepository is unavailable When database.backend=memory (default) or no SQL session factory is configured, search_threads now queries the LangGraph Store instead of returning 503. Returns empty list if neither Store nor repo is available. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(persistence): introduce ThreadMetaStore ABC for backend-agnostic thread metadata Add ThreadMetaStore abstract base class with create/get/search/update/delete interface. ThreadMetaRepository (SQL) now inherits from it. New MemoryThreadMetaStore wraps LangGraph BaseStore for memory-mode deployments. deps.py now always provides a non-None thread_meta_repo, eliminating all `if thread_meta_repo is not None` guards in services.py, worker.py, and routers/threads.py. search_threads no longer needs a Store fallback branch. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(history): read messages from checkpointer instead of RunEventStore The /history endpoint now reads messages directly from the checkpointer's channel_values (the authoritative source) instead of querying RunEventStore.list_messages(). The RunEventStore API is preserved for other consumers. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(persistence): address new Copilot review comments - feedback.py: validate thread_id/run_id before deleting feedback - jsonl.py: add path traversal protection with ID validation - run_repo.py: parse `before` to datetime for PostgreSQL compat - thread_meta_repo.py: fix pagination when metadata filter is active - database_config.py: use resolve_path for sqlite_dir consistency Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * Implement skill self-evolution and skill_manage flow (#1874) * chore: ignore .worktrees directory * Add skill_manage self-evolution flow * Fix CI regressions for skill_manage * Address PR review feedback for skill evolution * fix(skill-evolution): preserve history on delete * fix(skill-evolution): tighten scanner fallbacks * docs: add skill_manage e2e evidence screenshot * fix(skill-manage): avoid blocking fs ops in session runtime --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> * fix(config): resolve sqlite_dir relative to CWD, not Paths.base_dir resolve_path() resolves relative to Paths.base_dir (.deer-flow), which double-nested the path to .deer-flow/.deer-flow/data/app.db. Use Path.resolve() (CWD-relative) instead. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * Feature/feishu receive file (#1608) * feat(feishu): add channel file materialization hook for inbound messages - Introduce Channel.receive_file(msg, thread_id) as a base method for file materialization; default is no-op. - Implement FeishuChannel.receive_file to download files/images from Feishu messages, save to sandbox, and inject virtual paths into msg.text. - Update ChannelManager to call receive_file for any channel if msg.files is present, enabling downstream model access to user-uploaded files. - No impact on Slack/Telegram or other channels (they inherit the default no-op). * style(backend): format code with ruff for lint compliance - Auto-formatted packages/harness/deerflow/agents/factory.py and tests/test_create_deerflow_agent.py using `ruff format` - Ensured both files conform to project linting standards - Fixes CI lint check failures caused by code style issues * fix(feishu): handle file write operation asynchronously to prevent blocking * fix(feishu): rename GetMessageResourceRequest to _GetMessageResourceRequest and remove redundant code * test(feishu): add tests for receive_file method and placeholder replacement * fix(manager): remove unnecessary type casting for channel retrieval * fix(feishu): update logging messages to reflect resource handling instead of image * fix(feishu): sanitize filename by replacing invalid characters in file uploads * fix(feishu): improve filename sanitization and reorder image key handling in message processing * fix(feishu): add thread lock to prevent filename conflicts during file downloads * fix(test): correct bad merge in test_feishu_parser.py * chore: run ruff and apply formatting cleanup fix(feishu): preserve rich-text attachment order and improve fallback filename handling * fix(docker): restore gateway env vars and fix langgraph empty arg issue (#1915) Two production docker-compose.yaml bugs prevent `make up` from working: 1. Gateway missing DEER_FLOW_CONFIG_PATH and DEER_FLOW_EXTENSIONS_CONFIG_PATH environment overrides. Added in fb2d99f (#1836) but accidentally reverted by ca2fb95 (#1847). Without them, gateway reads host paths from .env via env_file, causing FileNotFoundError inside the container. 2. Langgraph command fails when LANGGRAPH_ALLOW_BLOCKING is unset (default). Empty $${allow_blocking} inserts a bare space between flags, causing ' --no-reload' to be parsed as unexpected extra argument. Fix by building args string first and conditionally appending --allow-blocking. Co-authored-by: cooper <cooperfu@tencent.com> * fix(frontend): resolve invalid HTML nesting and tabnabbing vulnerabilities (#1904) * fix(frontend): resolve invalid HTML nesting and tabnabbing vulnerabilities Fix `<button>` inside `<a>` invalid HTML in artifact components and add missing `noopener, noreferrer` to `window.open` calls to prevent reverse tabnabbing. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(frontend): address Copilot review on tabnabbing and double-tab-open Remove redundant parent onClick on web_fetch ChainOfThoughtStep to prevent opening two tabs on link click, and explicitly null out window.opener after window.open() for defensive tabnabbing hardening. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(persistence): organize entities into per-entity directories Restructure the persistence layer from horizontal "models/ + repositories/" split into vertical entity-aligned directories. Each entity (thread_meta, run, feedback) now owns its ORM model, abstract interface (where applicable), and concrete implementations under a single directory with an aggregating __init__.py for one-line imports. Layout: persistence/thread_meta/{base,model,sql,memory}.py persistence/run/{model,sql}.py persistence/feedback/{model,sql}.py models/__init__.py is kept as a facade so Alembic autogenerate continues to discover all ORM tables via Base.metadata. RunEventRow remains under models/run_event.py because its storage implementation lives in runtime/events/store/db.py and has no matching repository directory. The repositories/ directory is removed entirely. All call sites in gateway/deps.py and tests are updated to import from the new entity packages, e.g.: from deerflow.persistence.thread_meta import ThreadMetaRepository from deerflow.persistence.run import RunRepository from deerflow.persistence.feedback import FeedbackRepository Full test suite passes (1690 passed, 14 skipped). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(gateway): sync thread rename and delete through ThreadMetaStore The POST /threads/{id}/state endpoint previously synced title changes only to the LangGraph Store via _store_upsert. In sqlite mode the search endpoint reads from the ThreadMetaRepository SQL table, so renames never appeared in /threads/search until the next agent run completed (worker.py syncs title from checkpoint to thread_meta in its finally block). Likewise the DELETE /threads/{id} endpoint cleaned up the filesystem, Store, and checkpointer but left the threads_meta row orphaned in sqlite, so deleted threads kept appearing in /threads/search. Fix both endpoints by routing through the ThreadMetaStore abstraction which already has the correct sqlite/memory implementations wired up by deps.py. The rename path now calls update_display_name() and the delete path calls delete() — both work uniformly across backends. Verified end-to-end with curl in gateway mode against sqlite backend. Existing test suite (1690 passed) and focused router/repo tests pass. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(gateway): route all thread metadata access through ThreadMetaStore Following the rename/delete bug fix in PR1, migrate the remaining direct LangGraph Store reads/writes in the threads router and services to the ThreadMetaStore abstraction so that the sqlite and memory backends behave identically and the legacy dual-write paths can be removed. Migrated endpoints (threads.py): - create_thread: idempotency check + write now use thread_meta_repo.get/create instead of dual-writing the LangGraph Store and the SQL row. - get_thread: reads from thread_meta_repo.get; the checkpoint-only fallback for legacy threads is preserved. - patch_thread: replaced _store_get/_store_put with thread_meta_repo.update_metadata. - delete_thread_data: dropped the legacy store.adelete; thread_meta_repo.delete already covers it. Removed dead code (services.py): - _upsert_thread_in_store — redundant with the immediately following thread_meta_repo.create() call. - _sync_thread_title_after_run — worker.py's finally block already syncs the title via thread_meta_repo.update_display_name() after each run. Removed dead code (threads.py): - _store_get / _store_put / _store_upsert helpers (no remaining callers). - THREADS_NS constant. - get_store import (router no longer touches the LangGraph Store directly). New abstract method: - ThreadMetaStore.update_metadata(thread_id, metadata) merges metadata into the thread's metadata field. Implemented in both ThreadMetaRepository (SQL, read-modify-write inside one session) and MemoryThreadMetaStore. Three new unit tests cover merge / empty / nonexistent behaviour. Net change: -134 lines. Full test suite: 1693 passed, 14 skipped. Verified end-to-end with curl in gateway mode against sqlite backend (create / patch / get / rename / search / delete). Router code is unchanged — isolation is enforced at the storage layer so that any caller that forgets to pass owner_id still gets filtered results, and new routes cannot accidentally leak data. Core infrastructure ------------------- - deerflow/runtime/user_context.py (new): - ContextVar[CurrentUser | None] with default None - runtime_checkable CurrentUser Protocol (structural subtype with .id) - set/reset/get/require helpers - AUTO sentinel + resolve_owner_id(value, method_name) for sentinel three-state resolution: AUTO reads contextvar, explicit str overrides, explicit None bypasses the filter (for migration/CLI) Repository changes ------------------ - ThreadMetaRepository: create/get/search/update_*/delete gain owner_id=AUTO kwarg; read paths filter by owner, writes stamp it, mutations check ownership before applying - RunRepository: put/get/list_by_thread/delete gain owner_id=AUTO kwarg - FeedbackRepository: create/get/list_by_run/list_by_thread/delete gain owner_id=AUTO kwarg - DbRunEventStore: list_messages/list_events/list_messages_by_run/ count_messages/delete_by_thread/delete_by_run gain owner_id=AUTO kwarg. Write paths (put/put_batch) read contextvar softly: when a request-scoped user is available, owner_id is stamped; background worker writes without a user context pass None which is valid (orphan row to be bound by migration) Schema ------ - persistence/models/run_event.py: RunEventRow.owner_id = Mapped[ str | None] = mapped_column(String(64), nullable=True, index=True) - No alembic migration needed: 2.0 ships fresh, Base.metadata.create_all picks up the new column automatically Middleware ---------- - auth_middleware.py: after cookie check, call get_optional_user_from_ request to load the real User, stamp it into request.state.user AND the contextvar via set_current_user, reset in a try/finally. Public paths and unauthenticated requests continue without contextvar, and @require_auth handles the strict 401 path Test infrastructure ------------------- - tests/conftest.py: @pytest.fixture(autouse=True) _auto_user_context sets a default SimpleNamespace(id="test-user-autouse") on every test unless marked @pytest.mark.no_auto_user. Keeps existing 20+ persistence tests passing without modification - pyproject.toml [tool.pytest.ini_options]: register no_auto_user marker so pytest does not emit warnings for opt-out tests - tests/test_user_context.py: 6 tests covering three-state semantics, Protocol duck typing, and require/optional APIs - tests/test_thread_meta_repo.py: one test updated to pass owner_id= None explicitly where it was previously relying on the old default Test results ------------ - test_user_context.py: 6 passed - test_auth*.py + test_langgraph_auth.py + test_ensure_admin.py: 127 - test_run_event_store / test_run_repository / test_thread_meta_repo / test_feedback: 92 passed - Full backend suite: 1905 passed, 2 failed (both @requires_llm flaky integration tests unrelated to auth), 1 skipped * feat(auth): extend orphan migration to 2.0-rc persistence tables _ensure_admin_user now runs a three-step pipeline on every boot: Step 1 (fatal): admin user exists / is created / password is reset Step 2 (non-fatal): LangGraph store orphan threads → admin Step 3 (non-fatal): SQL persistence tables → admin - threads_meta - runs - run_events - feedback Each step is idempotent. The fatal/non-fatal split mirrors PR #1728's original philosophy: admin creation failure blocks startup (the system is unusable without an admin), whereas migration failures log a warning and let the service proceed (a partial migration is recoverable; a missing admin is not). Key helpers ----------- - _iter_store_items(store, namespace, *, page_size=500): async generator that cursor-paginates across LangGraph store pages. Fixes PR #1728's hardcoded limit=1000 bug that would silently lose orphans beyond the first page. - _migrate_orphaned_threads(store, admin_user_id): Rewritten to use _iter_store_items. Returns the migrated count so the caller can log it; raises only on unhandled exceptions. - _migrate_orphan_sql_tables(admin_user_id): Imports the 4 ORM models lazily, grabs the shared session factory, runs one UPDATE per table in a single transaction, commits once. No-op when no persistence backend is configured (in-memory dev). Tests: test_ensure_admin.py (8 passed) * test(auth): port AUTH test plan docs + lint/format pass - Port backend/docs/AUTH_TEST_PLAN.md and AUTH_UPGRADE.md from PR #1728 - Rename metadata.user_id → metadata.owner_id in AUTH_TEST_PLAN.md (4 occurrences from the original PR doc) - ruff auto-fix UP037 in sentinel type annotations: drop quotes around "str | None | _AutoSentinel" now that from __future__ import annotations makes them implicit string forms - ruff format: 2 files (app/gateway/app.py, runtime/user_context.py) Note on test coverage additions: - conftest.py autouse fixture was already added in commit 4 (had to be co-located with the repository changes to keep pre-existing persistence tests passing) - cross-user isolation E2E tests (test_owner_isolation.py) deferred — enforcement is already proven by the 98-test repository suite via the autouse fixture + explicit _AUTO sentinel exercises - New test cases (TC-API-17..20, TC-ATK-13, TC-MIG-01..07) listed in AUTH_TEST_PLAN.md are deferred to a follow-up PR — they are manual-QA test cases rather than pytest code, and the spec-level coverage is already met by test_user_context.py + the 98-test repository suite. Final test results: - Auth suite (test_auth*, test_langgraph_auth, test_ensure_admin, test_user_context): 186 passed - Persistence suite (test_run_event_store, test_run_repository, test_thread_meta_repo, test_feedback): 98 passed - Lint: ruff check + ruff format both clean * test(auth): add cross-user isolation test suite 10 tests exercising the storage-layer owner filter by manually switching the user_context contextvar between two users. Verifies the safety invariant: After a repository write with owner_id=A, a subsequent read with owner_id=B must not return the row, and vice versa. Covers all 4 tables that own user-scoped data: TC-API-17 threads_meta — read, search, update, delete cross-user TC-API-18 runs — get, list_by_thread, delete cross-user TC-API-19 run_events — list_messages, list_events, count_messages, delete_by_thread (CRITICAL: raw conversation content leak vector) TC-API-20 feedback — get, list_by_run, delete cross-user Plus two meta-tests verifying the sentinel pattern itself: - AUTO + unset contextvar raises RuntimeError - explicit owner_id=None bypasses the filter (migration escape hatch) Architecture note ----------------- These tests bypass the HTTP layer by design. The full chain (cookie → middleware → contextvar → repository) is covered piecewise: - test_auth_middleware.py: middleware sets contextvar from cookies - test_owner_isolation.py: repositories enforce isolation when contextvar is set to different users Together they prove the end-to-end safety property without the ceremony of spinning up a full TestClient + in-memory DB for every router endpoint. Tests pass: 231 (full auth + persistence + isolation suite) Lint: clean * refactor(auth): migrate user repository to SQLAlchemy ORM Move the users table into the shared persistence engine so auth matches the pattern of threads_meta, runs, run_events, and feedback — one engine, one session factory, one schema init codepath. New files --------- - persistence/user/__init__.py, persistence/user/model.py: UserRow ORM class with partial unique index on (oauth_provider, oauth_id) - Registered in persistence/models/__init__.py so Base.metadata.create_all() picks it up Modified -------- - auth/repositories/sqlite.py: rewritten as async SQLAlchemy, identical constructor pattern to the other four repositories (def __init__(self, session_factory) + self._sf = session_factory) - auth/config.py: drop users_db_path field — storage is configured through config.database like every other table - deps.py/get_local_provider: construct SQLiteUserRepository with the shared session factory, fail fast if engine is not initialised - tests/test_auth.py: rewrite test_sqlite_round_trip_new_fields to use the shared engine (init_engine + close_engine in a tempdir) - tests/test_auth_type_system.py: add per-test autouse fixture that spins up a scratch engine and resets deps._cached_* singletons * refactor(auth): remove SQL orphan migration (unused in supported scenarios) The _migrate_orphan_sql_tables helper existed to bind NULL owner_id rows in threads_meta, runs, run_events, and feedback to the admin on first boot. But in every supported upgrade path, it's a no-op: 1. Fresh install: create_all builds fresh tables, no legacy rows 2. No-auth → with-auth (no existing persistence DB): persistence tables are created fresh by create_all, no legacy rows 3. No-auth → with-auth (has existing persistence DB from #1930): NOT a supported upgrade path — "有 DB 到有 DB" schema evolution is out of scope; users wipe DB or run manual ALTER So the SQL orphan migration never has anything to do in the supported matrix. Delete the function, simplify _ensure_admin_user from a 3-step pipeline to a 2-step one (admin creation + LangGraph store orphan migration only). LangGraph store orphan migration stays: it serves the real "no-auth → with-auth" upgrade path where a user's existing LangGraph thread metadata has no owner_id field and needs to be stamped with the newly-created admin's id. Tests: 284 passed (auth + persistence + isolation) Lint: clean * security(auth): write initial admin password to 0600 file instead of logs CodeQL py/clear-text-logging-sensitive-data flagged 3 call sites that logged the auto-generated admin password to stdout via logger.info(). Production log aggregators (ELK/Splunk/etc) would have captured those cleartext secrets. Replace with a shared helper that writes to .deer-flow/admin_initial_credentials.txt with mode 0600, and log only the path. New file -------- - app/gateway/auth/credential_file.py: write_initial_credentials() helper. Takes email, password, and a "initial"/"reset" label. Creates .deer-flow/ if missing, writes a header comment plus the email+password, chmods 0o600, returns the absolute Path. Modified -------- - app/gateway/app.py: both _ensure_admin_user paths (fresh creation + needs_setup password reset) now write to file and log the path - app/gateway/auth/reset_admin.py: rewritten to use the shared ORM repo (SQLiteUserRepository with session_factory) and the credential_file helper. The previous implementation was broken after the earlier ORM refactor — it still imported _get_users_conn and constructed SQLiteUserRepository() without a session factory. No tests changed — the three password-log sites are all exercised via existing test_ensure_admin.py which checks that startup succeeds, not that a specific string appears in logs. CodeQL alerts 272, 283, 284: all resolved. * security(auth): strict JWT validation in middleware (fix junk cookie bypass) AUTH_TEST_PLAN test 7.5.8 expects junk cookies to be rejected with 401. The previous middleware behaviour was "presence-only": check that some access_token cookie exists, then pass through. In combination with my Task-12 decision to skip @require_auth decorators on routes, this created a gap where a request with any cookie-shaped string (e.g. access_token=not-a-jwt) would bypass authentication on routes that do not touch the repository (/api/models, /api/mcp/config, /api/memory, /api/skills, …). Fix: middleware now calls get_current_user_from_request() strictly and catches the resulting HTTPException to render a 401 with the proper fine-grained error code (token_invalid, token_expired, user_not_found, …). On success it stamps request.state.user and the contextvar so repository-layer owner filters work downstream. The 4 old "_with_cookie_passes" tests in test_auth_middleware.py were written for the presence-only behaviour; they asserted that a junk cookie would make the handler return 200. They are renamed to "_with_junk_cookie_rejected" and their assertions flipped to 401. The negative path (no cookie → 401 not_authenticated) is unchanged. Verified: no cookie → 401 not_authenticated junk cookie → 401 token_invalid (the fixed bug) expired cookie → 401 token_expired Tests: 284 passed (auth + persistence + isolation) Lint: clean * security(auth): wire @require_permission(owner_check=True) on isolation routes Apply the require_permission decorator to all 28 routes that take a {thread_id} path parameter. Combined with the strict middleware (previous commit), this gives the double-layer protection that AUTH_TEST_PLAN test 7.5.9 documents: Layer 1 (AuthMiddleware): cookie + JWT validation, rejects junk cookies and stamps request.state.user Layer 2 (@require_permission with owner_check=True): per-resource ownership verification via ThreadMetaStore.check_access — returns 404 if a different user owns the thread The decorator's owner_check branch is rewritten to use the SQL thread_meta_repo (the 2.0-rc persistence layer) instead of the LangGraph store path that PR #1728 used (_store_get / get_store in routers/threads.py). The inject_record convenience is dropped — no caller in 2.0 needs the LangGraph blob, and the SQL repo has a different shape. Routes decorated (28 total): - threads.py: delete, patch, get, get-state, post-state, post-history - thread_runs.py: post-runs, post-runs-stream, post-runs-wait, list_runs, get_run, cancel_run, join_run, stream_existing_run, list_thread_messages, list_run_messages, list_run_events, thread_token_usage - feedback.py: create, list, stats, delete - uploads.py: upload (added Request param), list, delete - artifacts.py: get_artifact - suggestions.py: generate (renamed body parameter to avoid conflict with FastAPI Request) Test fixes: - test_suggestions_router.py: bypass the decorator via __wrapped__ (the unit tests cover parsing logic, not auth — no point spinning up a thread_meta_repo just to test JSON unwrapping) - test_auth_middleware.py 4 fake-cookie tests: already updated in the previous commit (745bf432) Tests: 293 passed (auth + persistence + isolation + suggestions) Lint: clean * security(auth): defense-in-depth fixes from release validation pass Eight findings caught while running the AUTH_TEST_PLAN end-to-end against the deployed sg_dev stack. Each is a pre-condition for shipping release/2.0-rc that the previous PRs missed. Backend hardening - routers/auth.py: rate limiter X-Real-IP now requires AUTH_TRUSTED_PROXIES whitelist (CIDR/IP allowlist). Without nginx in front, the previous code honored arbitrary X-Real-IP, letting an attacker rotate the header to fully bypass the per-IP login lockout. - routers/auth.py: 36-entry common-password blocklist via Pydantic field_validator on RegisterRequest + ChangePasswordRequest. The shared _validate_strong_password helper keeps the constraint in one place. - routers/threads.py: ThreadCreateRequest + ThreadPatchRequest strip server-reserved metadata keys (owner_id, user_id) via Pydantic field_validator so a forged value can never round-trip back to other clients reading the same thread. The actual ownership invariant stays on the threads_meta row; this closes the metadata-blob echo gap. - authz.py + thread_meta/sql.py: require_permission gains a require_existing flag plumbed through check_access(require_existing=True). Destructive routes (DELETE/PATCH/state-update/runs/feedback) now treat a missing thread_meta row as 404 instead of "untracked legacy thread, allow", closing the cross-user delete-idempotence gap where any user could successfully DELETE another user's deleted thread. - repositories/sqlite.py + base.py: update_user raises UserNotFoundError on a vanished row instead of silently returning the input. Concurrent delete during password reset can no longer look like a successful update. - runtime/user_context.py: resolve_owner_id() coerces User.id (UUID) to str at the contextvar boundary so SQLAlchemy String(64) columns can bind it. The whole 2.0-rc isolation pipeline was previously broken end-to-end (POST /api/threads → 500 "type 'UUID' is not supported"). - persistence/engine.py: SQLAlchemy listener enables PRAGMA journal_mode=WAL, synchronous=NORMAL, foreign_keys=ON on every new SQLite connection. TC-UPG-06 in the test plan expects WAL; previous code shipped with the default 'delete' journal. - auth_middleware.py: stamp request.state.auth = AuthContext(...) so @require_permission's short-circuit fires; previously every isolation request did a duplicate JWT decode + users SELECT. Also unifies the 401 payload through AuthErrorResponse(...).model_dump(). - app.py: _ensure_admin_user restructure removes the noqa F821 scoping bug where 'password' was referenced outside the branch that defined it. New _announce_credentials helper absorbs the duplicate log block in the fresh-admin and reset-admin branches. * fix(frontend+nginx): rollout CSRF on every state-changing client path The frontend was 100% broken in gateway-pro mode for any user trying to open a specific chat thread. Three cumulative bugs each silently masked the next. LangGraph SDK CSRF gap (api-client.ts) - The Client constructor took only apiUrl, no defaultHeaders, no fetch interceptor. The SDK's internal fetch never sent X-CSRF-Token, so every state-changing /api/langgraph-compat/* call (runs/stream, threads/search, threads/{tid}/history, ...) hit CSRFMiddleware and got 403 before reaching the auth check. UI symptom: empty thread page with no error message; the SPA's hooks swallowed the rejection. - Fix: pass an onRequest hook that injects X-CSRF-Token from the csrf_token cookie per request. Reading the cookie per call (not at construction time) handles login / logout / password-change cookie rotation transparently. The SDK's prepareFetchOptions calls onRequest for both regular requests AND streaming/SSE/reconnect, so the same hook covers runs.stream and runs.joinStream. Raw fetch CSRF gap (7 files) - Audit: 11 frontend fetch sites, only 2 included CSRF (login/setup + account-settings change-password). The other 7 routed through raw fetch() with no header — suggestions, memory, agents, mcp, skills, uploads, and the local thread cleanup hook all 403'd silently. - Fix: enhance fetcher.ts:fetchWithAuth to auto-inject X-CSRF-Token on POST/PUT/DELETE/PATCH from a single shared readCsrfCookie() helper. Convert all 7 raw fetch() callers to fetchWithAuth so the contract is centrally enforced. api-client.ts and fetcher.ts share readCsrfCookie + STATE_CHANGING_METHODS to avoid drift. nginx routing + buffering (nginx.local.conf) - The auth feature shipped without updating the nginx config: per-API explicit location blocks but no /api/v1/auth/, /api/feedback, /api/runs. The frontend's client-side fetches to /api/v1/auth/login/local 404'd from the Next.js side because nginx routed /api/* to the frontend. - Fix: add catch-all `location /api/` that proxies to the gateway. nginx longest-prefix matching keeps the explicit blocks (/api/models, /api/threads regex, /api/langgraph/, ...) winning for their paths. - Fix: disable proxy_buffering + proxy_request_buffering for the frontend `location /` block. Without it, nginx tries to spool large Next.js chunks into /var/lib/nginx/proxy (root-owned) and fails with Permission denied → ERR_INCOMPLETE_CHUNKED_ENCODING → ChunkLoadError. * test(auth): release-validation test infra and new coverage Test fixtures and unit tests added during the validation pass. Router test helpers (NEW: tests/_router_auth_helpers.py) - make_authed_test_app(): builds a FastAPI test app with a stub middleware that stamps request.state.user + request.state.auth and a permissive thread_meta_repo mock. TestClient-based router tests (test_artifacts_router, test_threads_router) use it instead of bare FastAPI() so the new @require_permission(owner_check=True) decorators short-circuit cleanly. - call_unwrapped(): walks the __wrapped__ chain to invoke the underlying handler without going through the authz wrappers. Direct-call tests (test_uploads_router) use it. Typed with ParamSpec so the wrapped signature flows through. Backend test additions - test_auth.py: 7 tests for the new _get_client_ip trust model (no proxy / trusted proxy / untrusted peer / XFF rejection / invalid CIDR / no client). 5 tests for the password blocklist (literal, case-insensitive, strong password accepted, change-password binding, short-password length-check still fires before blocklist). test_update_user_raises_when_row_concurrently_deleted: closes a shipped-without-coverage gap on the new UserNotFoundError contract. - test_thread_meta_repo.py: 4 tests for check_access(require_existing=True) — strict missing-row denial, strict owner match, strict owner mismatch, strict null-owner still allowed (shared rows survive the tightening). - test_ensure_admin.py: 3 tests for _migrate_orphaned_threads / _iter_store_items pagination, covering the TC-UPG-02 upgrade story end-to-end via mock store. Closes the gap where the cursor pagination was untested even though the previous PR rewrote it. - test_threads_router.py: 5 tests for _strip_reserved_metadata (owner_id removal, user_id removal, safe-keys passthrough, empty input, both-stripped). - test_auth_type_system.py: replace "password123" fixtures with Tr0ub4dor3a / AnotherStr0ngPwd! so the new password blocklist doesn't reject the test data. * docs(auth): refresh TC-DOCKER-05 + document Docker validation gap - AUTH_TEST_PLAN.md TC-DOCKER-05: the previous expectation ("admin password visible in docker logs") was stale after the simplify pass that moved credentials to a 0600 file. The grep "Password:" check would have silently failed and given a false sense of coverage. New expectation matches the actual file-based path: 0600 file in DEER_FLOW_HOME, log shows the path (not the secret), reverse-grep asserts no leaked password in container logs. - NEW: docs/AUTH_TEST_DOCKER_GAP.md documents the only un-executed block in the test plan (TC-DOCKER-01..06). Reason: sg_dev validation host has no Docker daemon installed. The doc maps each Docker case to an already-validated bare-metal equivalent (TC-1.1, TC-REENT-01, TC-API-02 etc.) so the gap is auditable, and includes pre-flight reproduction steps for whoever has Docker available. --------- Co-authored-by: greatmengqi <chenmengqi.0376@bytedance.com> * refactor(persistence): unify SQLite to single deerflow.db and move checkpointer to runtime Merge checkpoints.db and app.db into a single deerflow.db file (WAL mode handles concurrent access safely). Move checkpointer module from agents/checkpointer to runtime/checkpointer to better reflect its role as a runtime infrastructure concern. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(persistence): rename owner_id to user_id and thread_meta_repo to thread_store Rename owner_id to user_id across all persistence models, repositories, stores, routers, and tests for clearer semantics. Rename thread_meta_repo to thread_store for consistency with run_store/run_event_store naming. Add ThreadMetaStore return type annotation to get_thread_store(). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(persistence): unify ThreadMetaStore interface with user isolation and factory Add user_id parameter to all ThreadMetaStore abstract methods. Implement owner isolation in MemoryThreadMetaStore with _get_owned_record helper. Add check_access to base class and memory implementation. Add make_thread_store factory to simplify deps.py initialization. Add memory-backend isolation tests. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(feedback): add UNIQUE(thread_id, run_id, user_id) constraint Add UNIQUE constraint to FeedbackRow to enforce one feedback per user per run, enabling upsert behavior in Task 2. Update tests to use distinct user_ids for multiple feedback records per run, and pass user_id=None to list_by_run for admin-style queries that bypass user isolation. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(feedback): add upsert() method with UNIQUE enforcement Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(feedback): add delete_by_run() and list_by_thread_grouped() Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(feedback): add PUT upsert and DELETE-by-run endpoints Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(feedback): enrich messages endpoint with per-run feedback data Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(feedback): add frontend feedback API client Adds upsertFeedback and deleteFeedback API functions backed by fetchWithAuth, targeting the /api/threads/{id}/runs/{id}/feedback endpoint. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(feedback): wire feedback data into message rendering for history echo Adds useThreadFeedback hook that fetches run-level feedback from the messages API and builds a runId->FeedbackData map. MessageList now calls this hook and passes feedback and runId to each MessageListItem so previously-submitted thumbs are pre-filled when revisiting a thread. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(feedback): correct run_id mapping for feedback echo The feedbackMap was keyed by run_id but looked up by LangGraph message ID. Fixed by tracking AI message ordinal index to correlate event store run_ids with LangGraph SDK messages. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(feedback): use real threadId and refresh after stream - Pass threadId prop to MessageListItem instead of reading "new" from URL params - Invalidate thread-feedback query on stream finish so buttons appear immediately - Show feedback buttons always visible, copy button on hover only Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * style(feedback): group copy and feedback buttons together on the left Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * style(feedback): always show toolbar buttons without hover Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(persistence): stream hang when run_events.backend=db DbRunEventStore._user_id_from_context() returned user.id without coercing it to str. User.id is a Pydantic UUID, and aiosqlite cannot bind a raw UUID object to a VARCHAR column, so the INSERT for the initial human_message event silently rolled back and raised out of the worker task. Because that put() sat outside the worker's try block, the finally-clause that publishes end-of-stream never ran and the SSE stream hung forever. jsonl mode was unaffected because json.dumps(default=str) coerces UUID objects transparently. Fixes: - db.py: coerce user.id to str at the context-read boundary (matches what resolve_user_id already does for the other repositories) - worker.py: move RunJournal init + human_message put inside the try block so any failure flows through the finally/publish_end path instead of hanging the subscriber Defense-in-depth: - engine.py: add PRAGMA busy_timeout=5000 so checkpointer and event store wait for each other on the shared deerflow.db file instead of failing immediately under write-lock contention - journal.py: skip fire-and-forget _flush_sync when a previous flush task is still in flight, to avoid piling up concurrent put_batch writes on the same SQLAlchemy engine during streaming; flush() now waits for pending tasks before draining the buffer - database_config.py: doc-only update clarifying WAL + busy_timeout keep the unified deerflow.db safe for both workloads Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore(persistence): drop redundant busy_timeout PRAGMA Python's sqlite3 driver defaults to a 5-second busy timeout via the ``timeout`` kwarg of ``sqlite3.connect``, and aiosqlite + SQLAlchemy's aiosqlite dialect inherit that default. Setting ``PRAGMA busy_timeout=5000`` explicitly was a no-op — verified by reading back the PRAGMA on a fresh connection (it already reports 5000ms without our PRAGMA). Concurrent stress test (50 checkpoint writes + 20 event batches + 50 thread_meta updates on the same deerflow.db) still completes with zero errors and 200/200 rows after removing the explicit PRAGMA. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(journal): unwrap Command tool results in on_tool_end Tools that update graph state (e.g. ``present_files``) return ``Command(update={'messages': [ToolMessage(...)], 'artifacts': [...]})``. LangGraph later unwraps the inner ``ToolMessage`` into checkpoint state, but ``RunJournal.on_tool_end`` was receiving the ``Command`` object directly via the LangChain callback chain and storing ``str(Command(update={...}))`` as the tool_result content. This produced a visible divergence between the event-store and the checkpoint for any thread that used a Command-returning tool, blocking the event-store-backed history fix in the follow-up commit. Concrete example from thread ``6d30913e-dcd4-41c8-8941-f66c716cf359`` (seq=48): checkpoint had ``'Successfully presented files'`` while event_store stored the full Command repr. The fix detects ``Command`` in ``on_tool_end``, extracts the first ``ToolMessage`` from ``update['messages']``, and lets the existing ToolMessage branch handle the ``model_dump()`` path. Legacy rows still containing the Command repr are separately cleaned up by the history helper in the follow-up commit. Tests: - ``test_tool_end_unwraps_command_with_inner_tool_message`` — unit test of the unwrap branch with a constructed Command - ``test_tool_invoke_end_to_end_unwraps_command`` — end-to-end via ``CallbackManager`` + ``tool.invoke`` to exercise the real LangChain dispatch path that production uses, matching the repro shape from ``present_files`` - Counter-proof: temporarily reverted the patch, both tests failed with the exact ``Command(update={...})`` repr that was stored in the production SQLite row at seq=48, confirming LangChain does pass the ``Command`` through callbacks (the unwrap is load-bearing) Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(threads): load history messages from event store, immune to summarize ``get_thread_history`` and ``get_thread_state`` in Gateway mode read messages from ``checkpoint.channel_values["messages"]``. After SummarizationMiddleware runs mid-run, that list is rewritten in-place: pre-summarize messages are dropped and a synthetic summary-as-human message takes position 0. The frontend then renders a chat history that starts with ``"Here is a summary of the conversation to date:..."`` instead of the user's original query, and all earlier turns are gone. The event store (``RunEventStore``) is append-only and never rewritten, so it retains the full transcript. This commit adds a helper ``_get_event_store_messages`` that loads the event store's message stream and overrides ``values["messages"]`` in both endpoints; the checkpoint fallback kicks in only when the event store is unavailable. Behavior contract of the helper: - **Full pagination.** ``list_messages`` returns the newest ``limit`` records when no cursor is given, so a fixed limit silently drops older messages on long threads. The helper sizes the read from ``count_messages()`` and pages forward with ``after_seq`` cursors. - **Copy-on-read.** Each content dict is copied before ``id`` is patched so the live store object (``MemoryRunEventStore`` returns references) is never mutated. - **Stable ids.** Messages with ``id=None`` (human + tool_result, which don't receive an id until checkpoint persistence) get a deterministic ``uuid5(NAMESPACE_URL, f"{thread_id}:{seq}")`` so React keys stay stable across requests. AI messages keep their LLM-assigned ``lc_run--*`` ids. - **Legacy ``Command`` repr sanitization.** Rows captured before the ``journal.py`` ``on_tool_end`` fix (previous commit) stored ``str(Command(update={'messages': [ToolMessage(content='X', ...)]}))`` as the tool_result content. ``_sanitize_legacy_command_repr`` regex-extracts the inner text so old threads render cleanly. - **Inline feedback.** When loading the stream, the helper also pulls ``feedback_repo.list_by_thread_grouped`` and attaches ``run_id`` to every message plus ``feedback`` to the final ``ai_message`` of each run. This removes the frontend's need to fetch a second endpoint and positional-index-map its way back to the right run. When the feedback subsystem is unavailable, the ``feedback`` field is left absent entirely so the frontend hides the button rather than rendering it over a broken write path. - **User context.** ``DbRunEventStore`` is user-scoped by default via ``resolve_user_id(AUTO)``. The helper relies on the ``@require_permission`` decorator having populated the user contextvar on both callers; the docstring documents this dependency explicitly so nobody wires it into a CLI or migration script without passing ``user_id=None``. Real data verification against thread ``6d30913e-dcd4-41c8-8941-f66c716cf359``: checkpoint showed 12 messages (summarize-corrupted), event store had 16. The original human message ``"最新伊美局势"`` was preserved as seq=1 in the event store and correctly restored to position 0 in the helper output. Helper output for AI messages was byte-identical to checkpoint for every overlapping message; only tool_result ids differed (patched to uuid5) and the legacy Command repr at seq=48 was sanitized. Tests: - ``test_thread_state_event_store.py`` — 18 tests covering ``_sanitize_legacy_command_repr`` (passthrough, single/double-quote extraction, unparseable fallback), helper happy path (all message types, stable uuid5, store non-mutation), multi-page pagination, summarize regression (recovers pre-summarize messages), feedback attachment (per-run, multi-run threads, repo failure graceful), and dependency failure fallback to ``None``. Docs: - ``docs/superpowers/plans/2026-04-10-event-store-history.md`` — the implementation plan this commit realizes, with Task 1 revised after the evaluation findings (pagination, copy-on-read, Command wrap already landed in journal.py, frontend feedback pagination in the follow-up commit, Standard-mode follow-up noted). - ``docs/superpowers/specs/2026-04-11-runjournal-history-evaluation.md`` — the Claude + second-opinion evaluation document that drove the plan revisions (pagination bug, dict-mutation bug, feedback hidden bug, Command bug). - ``docs/superpowers/specs/2026-04-11-summarize-marker-design.md`` — design for a follow-up PR that visually marks summarize events in history, based on a verified ``adispatch_custom_event`` experiment (``trace=False`` middleware nodes can still forward the Pregel task config via explicit signature injection). Scope: Gateway mode only (``make dev-pro``). Standard mode (``make dev``) hits LangGraph Server directly and bypasses these endpoints; the summarize symptom is still present there and is tracked as a separate follow-up in the plan. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(feedback): inline feedback on history and drop positional mapping The old ``useThreadFeedback`` hook loaded ``GET /api/threads/{id}/messages?limit=200`` and built two parallel lookup tables: ``runIdByAiIndex`` (an ordinal array of run_ids for every ``ai_message``-typed event) and ``feedbackByRunId``. The render loop in ``message-list.tsx`` walked the AI messages in order, incrementing ``aiMessageIndex`` on each non-human message, and used that ordinal to look up the run_id and feedback. This shape had three latent bugs we could observe on real threads: 1. **Fetch was capped at 200 messages.** Long or tool-heavy threads silently dropped earlier entries from the map, so feedback buttons could be missing on messages they should own. 2. **Ordinal mismatch.** The render loop counted every non-human message (including each intermediate ``ai_tool_call``), but ``runIdByAiIndex`` only pushed entries for ``event_type == "ai_message"``. A run with 3 tool_calls + 1 final AI message would push 1 entry while the render consumed 4 positions, so buttons mapped to the wrong positions across multi-run threads. 3. **Two parallel data paths.** The ``/history`` render path and the ``/messages`` feedback-lookup path could drift in-between an ``invalidateQueries`` call and the next refetch, producing transient mismaps. The previous commit moved the authoritative message source for history to the event store and added ``run_id`` + ``feedback`` inline on each message dict returned by ``_get_event_store_messages``. This commit aligns the frontend with that contract: - **Delete** ``useThreadFeedback``, ``ThreadFeedbackData``, ``runIdByAiIndex``, ``feedbackByRunId``, and ``fetchAllThreadMessages``. - **Introduce** ``useThreadMessageEnrichment`` that fetches ``POST /history?limit=1`` once, indexes the returned messages by ``message.id`` into a ``Map<id, {run_id, feedback?}>``, and invalidates on stream completion (``onFinish`` in ``useThreadStream``). Keying by ``message.id`` is stable across runs, tool_call chains, and summarize. - **Simplify** ``message-list.tsx`` to drop the ``aiMessageIndex`` counter and read ``enrichment?.get(msg.id)`` at each render step. - **Rewire** ``message-list-item.tsx`` so the feedback button renders when ``feedback !== undefined`` rather than when the message happens to be non-human. ``feedback`` is ``undefined`` for non-eligible messages (humans, non-final AI, tools), ``null`` for the final ai_message of an unrated run, and a ``FeedbackData`` object once rated — cleanly distinguishing "not eligible" from "eligible but unrated". ``/api/threads/{id}/messages`` is kept as a debug/export surface; no frontend code calls it anymore but the backend router is untouched. Validation: - ``pnpm check`` clean (0 errors, 1 pre-existing unrelated warning) - Live test on thread ``3d5dea4a`` after gateway restart confirmed the original user query is restored to position 0 and the feedback button behaves correctly on the final AI message. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(rebase): remove duplicate definitions and update stale module paths Rebase left duplicate function blocks in worker.py (triple human_message write causing 3x user messages in /history), deps.py, and prompt.py. Also update checkpointer imports from the old deerflow.agents.checkpointer path to deerflow.runtime.checkpointer, and clean up orphaned feedback props in the frontend message components. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(rebase): restore FeedbackButtons component and enrichment lost during rebase The FeedbackButtons component (defined inline in message-list-item.tsx) was introduced in commit 95df8d13 but lost during rebase. The previous rebase cleanup commit incorrectly removed the feedback/runId props and enrichment hook as "orphaned code" instead of restoring the missing component. This commit restores: - FeedbackButtons component with thumbs up/down toggle and optimistic state - FeedbackData/upsertFeedback/deleteFeedback imports - feedback and runId props on MessageListItem - useThreadMessageEnrichment hook and entry lookup in message-list.tsx Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(user-context): add DEFAULT_USER_ID and get_effective_user_id helper Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(paths): add user-aware path methods with optional user_id parameter Add _validate_user_id(), user_dir(), user_memory_file(), user_agent_memory_file() and optional keyword-only user_id parameter to all thread-related path methods. When user_id is provided, paths resolve under users/{user_id}/threads/{thread_id}/; when omitted, legacy layout is preserved for backward compatibility. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(memory): add user_id to MemoryStorage interface for per-user isolation Thread user_id through MemoryStorage.load/reload/save abstract methods and FileMemoryStorage, re-keying the in-memory cache from bare agent_name to a (user_id, agent_name) tuple to prevent cross-user cache collisions. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(memory): thread user_id through memory updater layer Add `user_id` keyword-only parameter to all public updater functions (_save_memory_to_file, get_memory_data, reload_memory_data, import_memory_data, clear_memory_data, create/delete/update_memory_fact) and regular keyword param to MemoryUpdater.update_memory + update_memory_from_conversation, propagating it to every storage load/save/reload call. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(memory): capture user_id at enqueue time for async-safe thread isolation Add user_id field to ConversationContext and MemoryUpdateQueue.add() so the user identity is stored explicitly at request time, before threading.Timer fires on a different thread where ContextVar values do not propagate. MemoryMiddleware.after_agent() now calls get_effective_user_id() at enqueue time and passes the value through to updater.update_memory(). Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(isolation): wire user_id through all Paths and memory callsites Pass user_id=get_effective_user_id() at every callsite that invokes Paths methods or memory functions, enabling per-user filesystem isolation throughout the harness and app layers. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(migration): add idempotent script for per-user data migration Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs: update CLAUDE.md and config docs for per-user isolation * feat(events): add pagination to list_messages_by_run on all store backends Replicates the existing before_seq/after_seq/limit cursor-pagination pattern from list_messages onto list_messages_by_run across the abstract interface, MemoryRunEventStore, JsonlRunEventStore, and DbRunEventStore. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(api): add GET /api/runs/{run_id}/messages with cursor pagination New endpoint resolves thread_id from the run record and delegates to RunEventStore.list_messages_by_run for cursor-based pagination. Ownership is enforced implicitly via RunStore.get() user filtering. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(api): add GET /api/runs/{run_id}/feedback Delegates to FeedbackRepository.list_by_run via the existing _resolve_run helper; includes tests for success, 404, empty list, and 503 (no DB). Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(api): retrofit cursor pagination onto GET /threads/{tid}/runs/{rid}/messages Replace bare list[dict] response with {data: [...], has_more: bool} envelope, forwarding limit/before_seq/after_seq query params to the event store. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs: add run-level API endpoints to CLAUDE.md routers table * refactor(threads): remove event-store message loader and feedback from state/history endpoints State and history endpoints now return messages purely from the checkpointer's channel_values. The _get_event_store_messages helper (which loaded the full event-store transcript with feedback attached) is removed along with its tests. Frontend will use the dedicated GET /api/runs/{run_id}/messages and /feedback endpoints instead. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(persistence): add unified persistence layer with event store, token tracking, and feedback (#1930) * feat(persistence): add SQLAlchemy 2.0 async ORM scaffold Introduce a unified database configuration (DatabaseConfig) that controls both the LangGraph checkpointer and the DeerFlow application persistence layer from a single `database:` config section. New modules: - deerflow.config.database_config — Pydantic config with memory/sqlite/postgres backends - deerflow.persistence — async engine lifecycle, DeclarativeBase with to_dict mixin, Alembic skeleton - deerflow.runtime.runs.store — RunStore ABC + MemoryRunStore implementation Gateway integration initializes/tears down the persistence engine in the existing langgraph_runtime() context manager. Legacy checkpointer config is preserved for backward compatibility. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(persistence): add RunEventStore ABC + MemoryRunEventStore Phase 2-A prerequisite for event storage: adds the unified run event stream interface (RunEventStore) with an in-memory implementation, RunEventsConfig, gateway integration, and comprehensive tests (27 cases). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(persistence): add ORM models, repositories, DB/JSONL event stores, RunJournal, and API endpoints Phase 2-B: run persistence + event storage + token tracking. - ORM models: RunRow (with token fields), ThreadMetaRow, RunEventRow - RunRepository implements RunStore ABC via SQLAlchemy ORM - ThreadMetaRepository with owner access control - DbRunEventStore with trace content truncation and cursor pagination - JsonlRunEventStore with per-run files and seq recovery from disk - RunJournal (BaseCallbackHandler) captures LLM/tool/lifecycle events, accumulates token usage by caller type, buffers and flushes to store - RunManager now accepts optional RunStore for persistent backing - Worker creates RunJournal, writes human_message, injects callbacks - Gateway deps use factory functions (RunRepository when DB available) - New endpoints: messages, run messages, run events, token-usage - ThreadCreateRequest gains assistant_id field - 92 tests pass (33 new), zero regressions Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(persistence): add user feedback + follow-up run association Phase 2-C: feedback and follow-up tracking. - FeedbackRow ORM model (rating +1/-1, optional message_id, comment) - FeedbackRepository with CRUD, list_by_run/thread, aggregate stats - Feedback API endpoints: create, list, stats, delete - follow_up_to_run_id in RunCreateRequest (explicit or auto-detected from latest successful run on the thread) - Worker writes follow_up_to_run_id into human_message event metadata - Gateway deps: feedback_repo factory + getter - 17 new tests (14 FeedbackRepository + 3 follow-up association) - 109 total tests pass, zero regressions Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * test+config: comprehensive Phase 2 test coverage + deprecate checkpointer config - config.example.yaml: deprecate standalone checkpointer section, activate unified database:sqlite as default (drives both checkpointer + app data) - New: test_thread_meta_repo.py (14 tests) — full ThreadMetaRepository coverage including check_access owner logic, list_by_owner pagination - Extended test_run_repository.py (+4 tests) — completion preserves fields, list ordering desc, limit, owner_none returns all - Extended test_run_journal.py (+8 tests) — on_chain_error, track_tokens=false, middleware no ai_message, unknown caller tokens, convenience fields, tool_error, non-summarization custom event - Extended test_run_event_store.py (+7 tests) — DB batch seq continuity, make_run_event_store factory (memory/db/jsonl/fallback/unknown) - Extended test_phase2b_integration.py (+4 tests) — create_or_reject persists, follow-up metadata, summarization in history, full DB-backed lifecycle - Fixed DB integration test to use proper fake objects (not MagicMock) for JSON-serializable metadata - 157 total Phase 2 tests pass, zero regressions Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * config: move default sqlite_dir to .deer-flow/data Keep SQLite databases alongside other DeerFlow-managed data (threads, memory) under the .deer-flow/ directory instead of a top-level ./data folder. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(persistence): remove UTFJSON, use engine-level json_serializer + datetime.now() - Replace custom UTFJSON type with standard sqlalchemy.JSON in all ORM models. Add json_serializer=json.dumps(ensure_ascii=False) to all create_async_engine calls so non-ASCII text (Chinese etc.) is stored as-is in both SQLite and Postgres. - Change ORM datetime defaults from datetime.now(UTC) to datetime.now(), remove UTC imports. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(gateway): simplify deps.py with getter factory + inline repos - Replace 6 identical getter functions with _require() factory. - Inline 3 _make_*_repo() factories into langgraph_runtime(), call get_session_factory() once instead of 3 times. - Add thread_meta upsert in start_run (services.py). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(docker): add UV_EXTRAS build arg for optional dependencies Support installing optional dependency groups (e.g. postgres) at Docker build time via UV_EXTRAS build arg: UV_EXTRAS=postgres docker compose build Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(journal): fix flush, token tracking, and consolidate tests RunJournal fixes: - _flush_sync: retain events in buffer when no event loop instead of dropping them; worker's finally block flushes via async flush(). - on_llm_end: add tool_calls filter and caller=="lead_agent" guard for ai_message events; mark message IDs for dedup with record_llm_usage. - worker.py: persist completion data (tokens, message count) to RunStore in finally block. Model factory: - Auto-inject stream_usage=True for BaseChatOpenAI subclasses with custom api_base, so usage_metadata is populated in streaming responses. Test consolidation: - Delete test_phase2b_integration.py (redundant with existing tests). - Move DB-backed lifecycle test into test_run_journal.py. - Add tests for stream_usage injection in test_model_factory.py. - Clean up executor/task_tool dead journal references. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): widen content type to str|dict in all store backends Allow event content to be a dict (for structured OpenAI-format messages) in addition to plain strings. Dict values are JSON-serialized for the DB backend and deserialized on read; memory and JSONL backends handle dicts natively. Trace truncation now serializes dicts to JSON before measuring. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(events): use metadata flag instead of heuristic for dict content detection Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(converters): add LangChain-to-OpenAI message format converters Pure functions langchain_to_openai_message, langchain_to_openai_completion, langchain_messages_to_openai, and _infer_finish_reason for converting LangChain BaseMessage objects to OpenAI Chat Completions format, used by RunJournal for event storage. 15 unit tests added. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(converters): handle empty list content as null, clean up test Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): human_message content uses OpenAI user message format Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): ai_message uses OpenAI format, add ai_tool_call message event - ai_message content now uses {"role": "assistant", "content": "..."} format - New ai_tool_call message event emitted when lead_agent LLM responds with tool_calls - ai_tool_call uses langchain_to_openai_message converter for consistent format - Both events include finish_reason in metadata ("stop" or "tool_calls") Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): add tool_result message event with OpenAI tool message format Cache tool_call_id from on_tool_start keyed by run_id as fallback for on_tool_end, then emit a tool_result message event (role=tool, tool_call_id, content) after each successful tool completion. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): summary content uses OpenAI system message format Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): replace llm_start/llm_end with llm_request/llm_response in OpenAI format Add on_chat_model_start to capture structured prompt messages as llm_request events. Replace llm_end trace events with llm_response using OpenAI Chat Completions format. Track llm_call_index to pair request/response events. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): add record_middleware method for middleware trace events Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * test(events): add full run sequence integration test for OpenAI content format Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(events): align message events with checkpoint format and add middleware tag injection - Message events (ai_message, ai_tool_call, tool_result, human_message) now use BaseMessage.model_dump() format, matching LangGraph checkpoint values.messages - on_tool_end extracts tool_call_id/name/status from ToolMessage objects - on_tool_error now emits tool_result message events with error status - record_middleware uses middleware:{tag} event_type and middleware category - Summarization custom events use middleware:summarize category - TitleMiddleware injects middleware:title tag via get_config() inheritance - SummarizationMiddleware model bound with middleware:summarize tag - Worker writes human_message using HumanMessage.model_dump() Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(threads): switch search endpoint to threads_meta table and sync title - POST /api/threads/search now queries threads_meta table directly, removing the two-phase Store + Checkpointer scan approach - Add ThreadMetaRepository.search() with metadata/status filters - Add ThreadMetaRepository.update_display_name() for title sync - Worker syncs checkpoint title to threads_meta.display_name on run completion - Map display_name to values.title in search response for API compatibility Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(threads): history endpoint reads messages from event store - POST /api/threads/{thread_id}/history now combines two data sources: checkpointer for checkpoint_id, metadata, title, thread_data; event store for messages (complete history, not truncated by summarization) - Strip internal LangGraph metadata keys from response - Remove full channel_values serialization in favor of selective fields Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: remove duplicate optional-dependencies header in pyproject.toml Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(middleware): pass tagged config to TitleMiddleware ainvoke call Without the config, the middleware:title tag was not injected, causing the LLM response to be recorded as a lead_agent ai_message in run_events. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: resolve merge conflict in .env.example Keep both DATABASE_URL (from persistence-scaffold) and WECOM credentials (from main) after the merge. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(persistence): address review feedback on PR #1851 - Fix naive datetime.now() → datetime.now(UTC) in all ORM models - Fix seq race condition in DbRunEventStore.put() with FOR UPDATE and UNIQUE(thread_id, seq) constraint - Encapsulate _store access in RunManager.update_run_completion() - Deduplicate _store.put() logic in RunManager via _persist_to_store() - Add update_run_completion to RunStore ABC + MemoryRunStore - Wire follow_up_to_run_id through the full create path - Add error recovery to RunJournal._flush_sync() lost-event scenario - Add migration note for search_threads breaking change - Fix test_checkpointer_none_fix mock to set database=None Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore: update uv.lock Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(persistence): address 22 review comments from CodeQL, Copilot, and Code Quality Bug fixes: - Sanitize log params to prevent log injection (CodeQL) - Reset threads_meta.status to idle/error when run completes - Attach messages only to latest checkpoint in /history response - Write threads_meta on POST /threads so new threads appear in search Lint fixes: - Remove unused imports (journal.py, migrations/env.py, test_converters.py) - Convert lambda to named function (engine.py, Ruff E731) - Remove unused logger definitions in repos (Ruff F841) - Add logging to JSONL decode errors and empty except blocks - Separate assert side-effects in tests (CodeQL) - Remove unused local variables in tests (Ruff F841) - Fix max_trace_content truncation to use byte length, not char length Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * style: apply ruff format to persistence and runtime files Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * Potential fix for pull request finding 'Statement has no effect' Co-authored-by: Copilot Autofix powered by AI <223894421+github-code-quality[bot]@users.noreply.github.com> * refactor(runtime): introduce RunContext to reduce run_agent parameter bloat Extract checkpointer, store, event_store, run_events_config, thread_meta_repo, and follow_up_to_run_id into a frozen RunContext dataclass. Add get_run_context() in deps.py to build the base context from app.state singletons. start_run() uses dataclasses.replace() to enrich per-run fields before passing ctx to run_agent. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(gateway): move sanitize_log_param to app/gateway/utils.py Extract the log-injection sanitizer from routers/threads.py into a shared utils module and rename to sanitize_log_param (public API). Eliminates the reverse service → router import in services.py. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * perf: use SQL aggregation for feedback stats and thread token usage Replace Python-side counting in FeedbackRepository.aggregate_by_run with a single SELECT COUNT/SUM query. Add RunStore.aggregate_tokens_by_thread abstract method with SQL GROUP BY implementation in RunRepository and Python fallback in MemoryRunStore. Simplify the thread_token_usage endpoint to delegate to the new method, eliminating the limit=10000 truncation risk. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs: annotate DbRunEventStore.put() as low-frequency path Add docstring clarifying that put() opens a per-call transaction with FOR UPDATE and should only be used for infrequent writes (currently just the initial human_message event). High-throughput callers should use put_batch() instead. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(threads): fall back to Store search when ThreadMetaRepository is unavailable When database.backend=memory (default) or no SQL session factory is configured, search_threads now queries the LangGraph Store instead of returning 503. Returns empty list if neither Store nor repo is available. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(persistence): introduce ThreadMetaStore ABC for backend-agnostic thread metadata Add ThreadMetaStore abstract base class with create/get/search/update/delete interface. ThreadMetaRepository (SQL) now inherits from it. New MemoryThreadMetaStore wraps LangGraph BaseStore for memory-mode deployments. deps.py now always provides a non-None thread_meta_repo, eliminating all `if thread_meta_repo is not None` guards in services.py, worker.py, and routers/threads.py. search_threads no longer needs a Store fallback branch. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(history): read messages from checkpointer instead of RunEventStore The /history endpoint now reads messages directly from the checkpointer's channel_values (the authoritative source) instead of querying RunEventStore.list_messages(). The RunEventStore API is preserved for other consumers. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(persistence): address new Copilot review comments - feedback.py: validate thread_id/run_id before deleting feedback - jsonl.py: add path traversal protection with ID validation - run_repo.py: parse `before` to datetime for PostgreSQL compat - thread_meta_repo.py: fix pagination when metadata filter is active - database_config.py: use resolve_path for sqlite_dir consistency Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * Implement skill self-evolution and skill_manage flow (#1874) * chore: ignore .worktrees directory * Add skill_manage self-evolution flow * Fix CI regressions for skill_manage * Address PR review feedback for skill evolution * fix(skill-evolution): preserve history on delete * fix(skill-evolution): tighten scanner fallbacks * docs: add skill_manage e2e evidence screenshot * fix(skill-manage): avoid blocking fs ops in session runtime --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang <willem.jiang@gmail.com> * fix(config): resolve sqlite_dir relative to CWD, not Paths.base_dir resolve_path() resolves relative to Paths.base_dir (.deer-flow), which double-nested the path to .deer-flow/.deer-flow/data/app.db. Use Path.resolve() (CWD-relative) instead. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * Feature/feishu receive file (#1608) * feat(feishu): add channel file materialization hook for inbound messages - Introduce Channel.receive_file(msg, thread_id) as a base method for file materialization; default is no-op. - Implement FeishuChannel.receive_file to download files/images from Feishu messages, save to sandbox, and inject virtual paths into msg.text. - Update ChannelManager to call receive_file for any channel if msg.files is present, enabling downstream model access to user-uploaded files. - No impact on Slack/Telegram or other channels (they inherit the default no-op). * style(backend): format code with ruff for lint compliance - Auto-formatted packages/harness/deerflow/agents/factory.py and tests/test_create_deerflow_agent.py using `ruff format` - Ensured both files conform to project linting standards - Fixes CI lint check failures caused by code style issues * fix(feishu): handle file write operation asynchronously to prevent blocking * fix(feishu): rename GetMessageResourceRequest to _GetMessageResourceRequest and remove redundant code * test(feishu): add tests for receive_file method and placeholder replacement * fix(manager): remove unnecessary type casting for channel retrieval * fix(feishu): update logging messages to reflect resource handling instead of image * fix(feishu): sanitize filename by replacing invalid characters in file uploads * fix(feishu): improve filename sanitization and reorder image key handling in message processing * fix(feishu): add thread lock to prevent filename conflicts during file downloads * fix(test): correct bad merge in test_feishu_parser.py * chore: run ruff and apply formatting cleanup fix(feishu): preserve rich-text attachment order and improve fallback filename handling * fix(docker): restore gateway env vars and fix langgraph empty arg issue (#1915) Two production docker-compose.yaml bugs prevent `make up` from working: 1. Gateway missing DEER_FLOW_CONFIG_PATH and DEER_FLOW_EXTENSIONS_CONFIG_PATH environment overrides. Added in fb2d99f (#1836) but accidentally reverted by ca2fb95 (#1847). Without them, gateway reads host paths from .env via env_file, causing FileNotFoundError inside the container. 2. Langgraph command fails when LANGGRAPH_ALLOW_BLOCKING is unset (default). Empty $${allow_blocking} inserts a bare space between flags, causing ' --no-reload' to be parsed as unexpected extra argument. Fix by building args string first and conditionally appending --allow-blocking. Co-authored-by: cooper <cooperfu@tencent.com> * fix(frontend): resolve invalid HTML nesting and tabnabbing vulnerabilities (#1904) * fix(frontend): resolve invalid HTML nesting and tabnabbing vulnerabilities Fix `<button>` inside `<a>` invalid HTML in artifact components and add missing `noopener, noreferrer` to `window.open` calls to prevent reverse tabnabbing. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(frontend): address Copilot review on tabnabbing and double-tab-open Remove redundant parent onClick on web_fetch ChainOfThoughtStep to prevent opening two tabs on link click, and explicitly null out window.opener after window.open() for defensive tabnabbing hardening. --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(persistence): organize entities into per-entity directories Restructure the persistence layer from horizontal "models/ + repositories/" split into vertical entity-aligned directories. Each entity (thread_meta, run, feedback) now owns its ORM model, abstract interface (where applicable), and concrete implementations under a single directory with an aggregating __init__.py for one-line imports. Layout: persistence/thread_meta/{base,model,sql,memory}.py persistence/run/{model,sql}.py persistence/feedback/{model,sql}.py models/__init__.py is kept as a facade so Alembic autogenerate continues to discover all ORM tables via Base.metadata. RunEventRow remains under models/run_event.py because its storage implementation lives in runtime/events/store/db.py and has no matching repository directory. The repositories/ directory is removed entirely. All call sites in gateway/deps.py and tests are updated to import from the new entity packages, e.g.: from deerflow.persistence.thread_meta import ThreadMetaRepository from deerflow.persistence.run import RunRepository from deerflow.persistence.feedback import FeedbackRepository Full test suite passes (1690 passed, 14 skipped). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(gateway): sync thread rename and delete through ThreadMetaStore The POST /threads/{id}/state endpoint previously synced title changes only to the LangGraph Store via _store_upsert. In sqlite mode the search endpoint reads from the ThreadMetaRepository SQL table, so renames never appeared in /threads/search until the next agent run completed (worker.py syncs title from checkpoint to thread_meta in its finally block). Likewise the DELETE /threads/{id} endpoint cleaned up the filesystem, Store, and checkpointer but left the threads_meta row orphaned in sqlite, so deleted threads kept appearing in /threads/search. Fix both endpoints by routing through the ThreadMetaStore abstraction which already has the correct sqlite/memory implementations wired up by deps.py. The rename path now calls update_display_name() and the delete path calls delete() — both work uniformly across backends. Verified end-to-end with curl in gateway mode against sqlite backend. Existing test suite (1690 passed) and focused router/repo tests pass. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(gateway): route all thread metadata access through ThreadMetaStore Following the rename/delete bug fix in PR1, migrate the remaining direct LangGraph Store reads/writes in the threads router and services to the ThreadMetaStore abstraction so that the sqlite and memory backends behave identically and the legacy dual-write paths can be removed. Migrated endpoints (threads.py): - create_thread: idempotency check + write now use thread_meta_repo.get/create instead of dual-writing the LangGraph Store and the SQL row. - get_thread: reads from thread_meta_repo.get; the checkpoint-only fallback for legacy threads is preserved. - patch_thread: replaced _store_get/_store_put with thread_meta_repo.update_metadata. - delete_thread_data: dropped the legacy store.adelete; thread_meta_repo.delete already covers it. Removed dead code (services.py): - _upsert_thread_in_store — redundant with the immediately following thread_meta_repo.create() call. - _sync_thread_title_after_run — worker.py's finally block already syncs the title via thread_meta_repo.update_display_name() after each run. Removed dead code (threads.py): - _store_get / _store_put / _store_upsert helpers (no remaining callers). - THREADS_NS constant. - get_store import (router no longer touches the LangGraph Store directly). New abstract method: - ThreadMetaStore.update_metadata(thread_id, metadata) merges metadata into the thread's metadata field. Implemented in both ThreadMetaRepository (SQL, read-modify-write inside one session) and MemoryThreadMetaStore. Three new unit tests cover merge / empty / nonexistent behaviour. Net change: -134 lines. Full test suite: 1693 passed, 14 skipped. Verified end-to-end with curl in gateway mode against sqlite backend (create / patch / get / rename / search / delete). --------- Co-authored-by: greatmengqi <chenmengqi.0376@bytedance.com> * fix(persistence): stream hang when run_events.backend=db DbRunEventStore._user_id_from_context() returned user.id without coercing it to str. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(rebase): remove duplicate definitions and update stale module paths Rebase left duplicate function blocks in worker.py (triple human_message write causing 3x user messages in /history), deps.py, and prompt.py. Also update checkpointer imports from the old deerflow.agents.checkpointer path to deerflow.runtime.checkpointer, and clean up orphaned feedback props in the frontend message components. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(user-context): add DEFAULT_USER_ID and get_effective_user_id helper Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(paths): add user-aware path methods with optional user_id parameter Add _validate_user_id(), user_dir(), user_memory_file(), user_agent_memory_file() and optional keyword-only user_id parameter to all thread-related path methods. Frontend will use the dedicated GET /api/runs/{run_id}/messages and /feedback endpoints instead. fix(jina): log transient failures at WARNING without traceback (#2484) (#2485)
The exception handler in JinaClient.crawl used logger.exception, which emits an ERROR-level record with the full httpx/httpcore/anyio traceback for every transient network failure (timeout, connection refused). Other search/crawl providers in the project log the same class of recoverable failures as a single line. One offline/slow-network session could produce dozens of multi-frame ERROR stack traces, drowning out real problems. Switch to logger.warning with a concise message that includes the exception type and its str, matching the style used elsewhere for recoverable transient failures (aio_sandbox, ddg, etc.). The exception type now also surfaces into the returned "Error: ..." string so callers retain diagnostic signal. Adds a regression test that asserts the log record is WARNING, carries no exc_info, and includes the exception class name.
