From 63211d5da6041c9e815f76983f9ff0a33a7ac385 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: jay <1569941651@qq.com> Date: Sun, 25 Oct 2026 08:56:21 +0800 Subject: [PATCH] fix(readability): preserve links when Readability.js silently degrades on Windows (#7412) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit * fix(readability): preserve links when Readability.js silently degrades on Windows On Windows, simple_json_from_html_string(use_readability=True) invokes the Readability.js subprocess, which succeeds without error but returns the unextracted document instead of the extracted article. The pure-Python fallback (use_readability=False) also drops every destination. The net effect is that web_fetch returns link-free Markdown on Windows. Fix: after extraction, check whether the output retained the elements that the resolved HTML carried. When they are all gone, fall back to converting the resolved HTML directly with markdownify — which preserves as [text](href) — so links survive regardless of the Readability.js outcome. Measured: 17 of 22 test_web_fetch_relative_links.py failures resolved; 43/48 pass on Windows (5 remaining are pre-existing malformed-markup extraction tests, unrelated to this change). Closes #6459 * test(readability): add degraded-extraction and scope-pinning tests * test(readability): detect unwanted article fallback * test(readability): classify HTML body in authority-tag census --------- Co-authored-by: Willem Jiang --- .../harness/deerflow/utils/readability.py | 14 +++++++ backend/tests/AGENTS.md | 12 ++++++ .../test_input_sanitization_middleware.py | 24 +++++++++-- .../tests/test_web_fetch_relative_links.py | 41 +++++++++++++++++++ 4 files changed, 87 insertions(+), 4 deletions(-) diff --git a/backend/packages/harness/deerflow/utils/readability.py b/backend/packages/harness/deerflow/utils/readability.py index d4aec84399..5c94fb33da 100644 --- a/backend/packages/harness/deerflow/utils/readability.py +++ b/backend/packages/harness/deerflow/utils/readability.py @@ -60,6 +60,10 @@ class Article: _BASE_TAG_RE = re.compile(r" and ; +# their presence in the content signals the subprocess returned the raw document. +_UNEXTRACTED_DOC_RE = re.compile(r"<body\b[^>]*>|<title\b[^>]*>", re.IGNORECASE) +_BODY_INNER_RE = re.compile(r"<body[^>]*>(.*)</body>", re.DOTALL | re.IGNORECASE) def _resolve_html_urls(html: str, url: str) -> str: @@ -173,6 +177,16 @@ class ReadabilityExtractor: if not html_content or not str(html_content).strip(): html_content = "No content could be extracted from this page" + # Detect silent Readability.js degradation: a successful extraction always + # strips <body> and <title> from the content.
